Why people are whining about Dead hard?
Few months ago people were outraged/meme'd about how it worked like 1% of the time.
Now somehow its the most broken perk in the game without any changes to it.
Sprint burst is waaaaaaaaaaaay better, majority of the time.

Because it gives survivors a free health state, and that is a problem. Perk definitely needs to be addressed.
36 -
Well it gives survivor a free health state IF killer tries to hit them and survivor manages to hit E faster.
Besides it has always been like this.
5 -
How is it free when you need to time it perfectly or you just go on the ground?
To op, because after ds complaints its the turn of dh, after dh it will be for adrenaline and after adrenaline bt
4 -
i-frames.
And the fact it extends chases in really frustrating ways.
26 -
because thats not how you make use of the perk to its full potential, you use it to reach a window and extend a chase by at least 15 seconds more than it should have been.
24 -
Dead Hard for Distance:tm: is the bit people complain about, not the use of it for invincibility frames for a small moment.
11 -
Are you implying that running 99% sprint burst during a chase doesnt extend the chase?
4 -
Then its not a free health state but just extending chases and i can do the exact same thing with sb 99d and a flashlight, even while healthy to counter exposed while with dh gl using it while exposed or instadown
3 -
Then how about you make it endurance on demand.
0 -
That's my favourite play as a vigil using surv lol it's disgusting
0 -
If a survivor makes that much distance in a chase it's usually better to just stop chasing them. Dead hard gives slight distance which means you shouldn't drop the chase but that slight distance can extend the chase by a long time.
3 -
That's worse. Applying deep wound in a chase and having a three second cooldown is worse than just missing.
1 -
Well you cant make it press a button to die with exhaustion on top of it.
1 -
How is it a "press a button to die"?
2 -
Well you don't want it to have i-frames and you also don't like how it gives distance in chase. If you remove both that's what you are left with.
1 -
Sprint burst takes skill to 99 and means that if you want to use it during chase you have to keep running.
Dead hard is literally the only exhaustion perk that you can activate at will.
Lithe needs fast <or medium vault>
Sprint burst makes it so you cant run <without triggering perk>
Balanced is already nerferd and still makes me sad <lol haddenfield ruined this perk>.
Imagine if the killer had a button <other than their power> that literally stopped survivors from moving for three seconds, it activates anytime the killers gets pallet stunned or brakes two pallets <similar to injuring>, it would be broken.
6 -
I'm not saying they should just remove those aspects im saying that's what makes it a frustrating perk. The problem i have with it is that it's supposed to be a dodge, but it's not really used that way, because basic attacks are too fast.
1 -
You dont? You bind use item to mouse wheel down and spam it with flashlight to use 99d sprint burst exactly like dh
0 -
Even if they made it so that if killer hits you evade it, no one would run it since any other exhaustion would give you more distance.
0 -
So it requires using an exploit to make sprint burst work even a little like dead hard, thanks for telling me that!
3 -
I am more surprised that they targeted Dead Hard before Borrowed Time.
Regardless the complaining is only going to fall on deaf ears.
0 -
Ofc its an exploit that has been in the game forever and everybody knows about it.
1 -
If they cry out loud devs will eventually nerf dh. I've mentally prepared myself to just play with only lightweight while the killers will use nurse with double range corrupt ruin pop and undying
2 -
Dev's don't listen to Killer players.
1 -
They do, they just decided to listen survivors more
2 -
Sprint burst is good, but not better. At least with sprint burst, killer can make the survivor use it and not engage in a chase. Dead hard becomes a factor after the killer has already committed to a chase, and there is absolutely nothing that can be done to stop the survivor from making a pallet or vault. That can often decide the match, especially if there is more than one survivor with dh.
2 -
it can be irritating to play against
1 -
Have you ever heard of a dead hard for distance? It still technically is a free health state as in you would have gone down without it. But for real survivor perks need some serious rebalancing before they can even begin to touch killer perks.
1 -
So heres the thing whilst sprint bursting (which is still arguably a more powerful perk in comp) is strong you are not invincible. Using dead hard pr9perly guarrantees you can loop take longer route with zero risk. If the killer calls your bluff they will have to contend with a dead hard for distance or towards pallets.
Then theres the fact it can evade all manner of projectiles traps and killer powers something sprint burst doesent. It super forgiving I frame timing and lack of actual motion required basically makes it so standing still dead hards are possible which is kinda silly tbh.
Much like a lot of top tier perk its so ubiquitous its crazy. Once you get past a certain point as killer its everywhere whilst most exhaustion perks see virtually no use. Whilst I agree dead hard is overtuned im not ogong to pretend other perks like ruin, unbreakable and tinkerer is reasonable either.
A common thread amoung players is a desire to see new builds and varied sertups from both killer and survivor. But people naturally want to play competitive builds to give them a better chance. As of now most meta perks are too strong for some potential perks to shine and add some variance.
3 -
I've heard about that and i've also heard about sprint burst for distance

Huntress, slinger, trickster, nemsis, plague. Special attacks are only avoidable via dead hard if the shot is accurate. I cant count the mumber of times i caught a sprint burster with a hatchet or spear. Dead hard completely negates that. It does not get around viktor lunge or pinheads chains oddly.
Then theres trapper where dead hard is soul crushingly strong. Putting an obstacle in the way of trapper and bypassing a trapped position.
5 -
To have that at the exact moment you need it means you were being useless and not doing generators or you were lucky.
Or cheating.. I had a survivor with sb always ready to the point i timed it and they were getting it back before the 40 second requirement.

I think the main difference is the effort-reward ratio. 99ing Sprint Burst isn't that easy and you can easily waste it when not needed, unlike Dead Hard which is "Ounga bunga press E for safety". Kind of when people get triggered by dying to a Spirit but not to a Nurse even though the latter is stronger.
Edit: also Sprint Burst is most of the time used in the beginning of the chase, unlike Dead Hard which is used when the killer is about to get you, so it adds to the triggering factor.

I think the main problem people have with it is you can use it to get to a window or pallet that you probably would’ve gotten hit and it extends the chase.
0 -
As a person who uses dead hard on all my builds its a strong perk with almost no downsides besides dead hard not activating and the killer downs you. If you get mindgamed at a loop it doesn't matter cuz you'll just dead hard. It extends loops by getting to windows and pallets safely and can dodge abilities like huntress hatchets it does need a rework.
3 -
Play nurse, blink on top of a survivor and try to m1. You will know why i hate dh
3 -
Survivors use it because it's fun. Killers consider it obnoxious because survivors use it in their face, so they feel they've been robbed. But honestly, killers should be glad DH is meta. If it gets nerfed, and survivors would use SB instead every game, killers would wish to have DH back.

Personally I think Sprint Burst is overrated. Only the top tier use it properly. Everyone else? It’s a handicap for your teammates. A lot of players donn’t even know how to properly 99 it. And then you have those that don’t pair it with fixated, and take forever to get you off hook or approach a gen to help you, because they’re conserving it. No sense of urgency. Timing is always bad because the killer comes back to hook after being gone for 5 hours, or comes to PGTW the 99 gen that could have been finished 7 seconds ago. Then off runs the Sprint Burst user leaving you at the gen with your dick in your hand.
Dead Hard is fine as is. It doesn’t need a nerf. DS nerf was too harsh. It shouldn’t go away if your heal was interrupted or if you pull someone off hook. That’s stupid.
0 -
Because I don't like getting screwed over by someone pressing E.
1 -
I think killers don't like dead hard in the same reason survivors don't like Death Slinger shots -- because he can shot survivors with almost no warning signal. Sprint Burst is more honest: Okay you have run away from the gen, but now you are exhausted and now your chase outcome depends on your skill or the help from your teammates. If you make a mistake -- you cannot fix it. Dead Hard let's you sometimes fix the mistake by gaining distance. 99ned Sprint Burst is also more honest, so yes, you can use it to surprise killer in mid-chase, but you cannot do gens when you have 99ned Sprint Burst. Dead Hard is a free jump to the pallet when you need it, just by pressing E
1 -
Same reason people complain about noed. It gives a second chance
0 -
Because most killers are lazy to try to brain DH even if its easy , as a main killer i dont have any problem with DH
1 -
hey the tutorial is still up if you need easier games with no perk survs!
1 -
It doesn't feel very good to finally mindgame a very good survivor only for them to negate your play by pressing a button and getting to safety. They rarely fall for any mindgames as it is. They then extend the chase to another strong structure. That can cost you the game. I've lost games due to one Dead Hard before. It feels bad man.
1 -
Agreed. On both sides its just a matter of going down the list of any meta perks and complaining until they are nerfed.SB is next. One thing we don't talk about here is another free, non-perk, in the game for killers. Its called Bloodlust. You know that thing that shortens chases with absolutely no input from the killer?
Also, the standing still DH ' was' nerfed. It won't even light up as active until you run.
0 -
It gives free invincibility regardless of skill. Dodge moves are supposed to require you to dodge away from the enemy's attack, not INTO it. That's absurd. It's just a bailout button.
0 -
I will preface this by saying that Sprint Burst and Dead Hard are equally problematic perks since they have different ways to achieve the same end. They are free chase extension. Everything that can be said about the killers that are getting nerfed this patch can be said about these 2 perks.
The reason why Dead Hard is the more hated perk is how it plays out. Dead Hard just yoinks a potential hit away from you right after the killer earned it. This can come from Dead Hard for distance, or it could be how it ruins a good number of killer powers, forcing them into a cooldown for something that can't realistically played around. There's also the fact that Dead Hard's second-chance nature emboldens survivors to take risky plays that they otherwise wouldn't that may pay off more for them. Ever notice when Dead Hard users are super confident in their looping until they use Dead Hard and immediately crumble afterwards?
2 -
DH is easily the most powerful perk in the game. Not only does it give you a free health state but it can dramatically extend chases at the mere press of a button. With how fast gens fly by in conjunction with how many pallets are on most maps, DH can take that well fought, hard earned chase from the killer and turn it into a game losing chase, simply by pressing a button. It’s pretty broken when used correctly.
0 -
ez counter to deadhard just keep chasing til you are in the range where you can tap m1 and hit them instead of lunging and most of the time they will deadhard and you won't lose distance
