Please help me learn how to run away from Killer. at least more than 10 seconds.

I am really bad at evading killer. As soon as I am spotted, I get hit and then knocked down. Sometimes immediately. On Oct 1st seems like all the killers were letting survivors win and I got too high of a rank way past my skill level. Any tips? Thanks everyone.

I'm not a great survivor by any means, but one quick tip is never to run to the edges of the map. There's nothing there for you and you'll go down quickly.

There is a VOD for that.

In all seriousness , I suggest Windows of Opportunity if you have it or can get it. And watch some Youtube videos. Then, don't play immersed, do gens, when the killer finds you, start the chase and work on getting better. Leave the genny earlier, if you are not a great looper, to give yourself some distance.

Looping takes time, and honestly, I am still only average and I have 4 years in game. So don't be too hard on yourself, remember, killers are good too and they work on ending chases quickly.

And, patience at corners as well. Good luck!

run dead hard, iron will, windows of opportunity, and lucky break to have a huge advantage is your chases. dead hard to give you a second chance. iron will to be quieter, windows to see pallets and windows easier. and lucky break to make it harder for the killer to track you around tall loops/tall grass

    Its just practice.

At the start of the match when you're about to get on a gen, try to map out any pallets in the vicinity just in case the killer finds you first and that way you won't be caught off guard.

Realizing the strengths and weaknesses of the killer you're going against and using said weaknesses against them - but that comes with just more playtime. Ex. You can lengthen a chase with Leatherface by forcing him to M1 you by playing around windows.

Knowing the difference between weak and god pallets and comboing loops together.

Try not to throw pallets down prematurely, a lot of survivors do that and end up hurting their team the longer the match goes on.

Bring WoO if you have trouble finding pallets during chases. Start getting used to Dead Hard as well as that can reset chases.

^ Windows of Opportunity is awesome. I constantly run it. Because pallet and vault spawns are RNG, and you can't know which pallets your teammates have already used, WoO is always useful.

yes increased speed and less ways to track you are a nightmare for the killer to deal with and it's worse when they are together so the killer will be forced to attempt to mind game and if you think they are just run away or if you run object which you can replace iron will with if you want. then the killer has nothing besides there power (if it's a chasing power) and bloodlust. (just lose line of sight for 5 seconds) so looping killers like legion is easy because there is nothing they can do to stop the 40 minute chase and endless pallets. (I always run any means neccesary and openhanded to help my chasing team member out even though I am usually the chaser)

I'm a killer main, so I can tell you what NOT to do.

    1. Don't camp pallets

By doing this you are allowing the killer to walk right up to you and force you to either drop the pallet, get hit, or both. Loop instead depending on who the killer is.

    2. Don't keep your camera forward in chase, Look behind you

This should go without saying, but....it doesn't. You should know how much distance the killer has from you so you know whether or not you can make another loop or if you are just going to have to take a hit instead of risking wasting a pallet in addition etc. Just glance behind you every now and again and make sure you don't run into anything.

    3. Don't do the same thing over and over again.

The killer will realize that you're a one trick pony and capitalize on it. We aren't idiots...well not usually. One thing I see a lot of survivors do a lot is vault shack window from inside to outside coming in from the pallet entrance. Usually I just keep walking to the window on the outside and I get a free hit, but once in a while I'll get a little smartass who fakes the vault and gains extra distance. It's all in the mindgames. When they do something like that it tells me I need to pay more attention to them in chase. Just don't do the same things over again unless you're looping a very safe loop in which case have at it. You might piss the killer off though.

Learn how to loop at Killer Shack and different jungle gyms. As others are saying, Windows of Opportunity is a great perk for learning where vaults and pallets spawn, when you memorize them you can take the perk off and know where to go. Other perks like Spine Chill can help with running early if a Killer it coming (especially stealth killers) and Exhaustion perks like Dead Hard or Sprint Burst are pretty good if you learn how to use them well. What will help the most however is watching VODs on how to run specific jungle gyms, knowing how to identify strong vs weak loops and how to loop each Killer (running a Huntress on Killer Shack is very different than running Spirit on it).

I have this perk build: Iron will, Dance with me, Lithe, Quick and quiet.

Try to vault when out of Killer's sight. And suddenly you see Killer mind game himself at gym from far behind.

it can be difficult to realise what you can run though and what you can't on that map - so don't worry about that! Pretty sure we all made mistakes like that our first few times on the map

Playing killer is definitely helpful. It helps you to see what the killer sees. Pay lots of attention to when, as killer, you are locked into looking a certain direction - like with stuns or pallet kicks. You want to be able to capitalize on this when playing the other side.

It's also good to know what the killer can really see. A lot of people think they are hiding or have escaped when they've left scratch marks all over vertical walls or whatever.

When you repairing a gen, look around for your escape route (pallets, windows) if the killer is coming to you.

    This is important.

Try to look behind you while in chase to track where the killer is. If you're looking straight forward, the killer will mindgame you and down you in a heartbeat.

Also, try to remember every map layout. That will help you to find pallets and gens easily.

Perks for evanding the killer: Sprint burst, Iron will, Windows of opportunity and Lucky Break. Bring a good medkit with you to heal up quick.

If you mean more than 10 sec litteraly, then just hold w, unless the killer has a dash or a ranged attack, it will take 20 to 30s for them to hit you twice. Talking about dash and ranged attack, learn the specific of each killer.

Other than that we can't help a lot without seeing you play, but i would say always check your escape route while you move or when doing any action. Depending on the layout of the map you can sometime see tiles that can be linked together that you would not see during a chase because you are busy (even more if you are not confident), or the opposite, you can see where dead zone were made in order to avoid them later.

In any aspect of the game, information is key. If you prepare for the chase BEFORE it happen, it will help you a lot for when the killer find you.

Did the killer found you while you were moving? Well that's okay, because you searched your surrounding 5 sec ago and saw that there is a usable tiles on your left.

If you weak point isn't information gathering but the looping part, unfortunatly, i think that you can only play and hope you improve with experience, try to catch some patern in the killer movement, does he often moon walk, how often does he double back? For both side, looping can be difficult because you never know how your opponent will play before you go against them. I sometimes play worse againt a killer that just hold W because i expect them to do mindgames and end up mindgaming myself.

The other made great point so if you combine a bit of everything here you should have the basics covered.

Don't run meta perks. Take Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, ds, etc. And throw them in the trash. You'll become reliant on them before you even become good at looping.

Always try to keep an idea of where the killer is. Constantly look behind and keep check of where they are. You don't want to take your eyes off the killer in a chase, turn a corner, and immediately run into the killer because they pathed around the wall.

I suggest playing killer and surv back n forth. Imitate how the killer's are catching you in chases. See how survivor players are countering you there and then go back on surv and implement those techniques into your play. Rinse and repeat.

Best thing to suggest is to try and get into chases. You'll learn quickly on what works, mind games, etc.

Don't run all dark clothes, try to attract some attention.

Watch out for dead zones and be aware of ways out. 1 pallet isn't bad, but pallet and then vaulting a window with Lithe is great

    Rule nr.1 distance distance distance.

If you have an oppertunity to create more distance between you and a killer then 9/10 it's worth it.

Don't do fancy spins after getting hit but use the speed boost to run in a straight line from the killer.

Killer breaking a pallet? Straight line away from them.

Rule nr 2 learn the maps.

Once you learned how to make effective distance then you just need to learn to run towards tiles that you can use.

This requires knowledge. After playing for a while you'll learn to recognise these at a distance. Using the perk Windows of Oppertunity (which is getting buffed soon) will make this learning process easier and make sure you don't run into death zones.

Rule nr 3. If you want to beat them, join them.

As with everything in life, learning how things are from the other side will allow you to learn to deal with them much more effective.

Play killer too and look at what the survivors you go up against do .

The more you learn of your opposition the better you can go against them

The biggest tip I have is to run early when you can't finish a gen if the killer patrols to you. Players, especially newer ones, don't do this enough. But it happens at all skill levels.

If someone is in a chase near you, just got hooked nearby, etc, leave your gen and run the other way. Especially when there's 1 gen left. The killer literally has 3 places to patrol.

So often I see survivors take a hit near a gen that has 50% progress. Why? What are we accomplishing here? If you hold W away from the gen early, you force the killer to make a choice: spend 20 seconds just to catch up to you, or don't chase you at all.

What helped me the most was watching high skilled streamers like probzz and ayrun. I learned how to loop from them. As for perks I recommend Decisive strike, deadhard, iron will and you can pick the 4th perk yourself, I usually alternate between plunderer and hope.

Decisive strike so you don’t get tunneled out of the game in 2 mins.

Deadhard to dodge hits or if a window or pallet is barely out of your reach because the killer will hit you, you can use deadhard for distance and reach it.

Iron will helps with looping and stealth, it’s one of the best perks in the game. With it, the killer doesn’t know if you’re camping a pallet or if you just ran away from the loop. Almost every killer has headphones on so I highly recommend this.

There are more tricks you can pull off at high ranks like vacuum pallets and 360s but you shouldn’t worry about them yet.

Another tip I can give you is to almost never drop an unsafe pallet when you’re looping it with the killer chasing you because the killer wants you to drop it for an easy hit. The moment you drop one without a stun you will 100% get hit.

And my last general tip is to take hits if someone that’s on deathhook is about to go down. If someone dies at 3 or 4 gens remaining, the game is pretty much over. Survivors have to spread out hooks or you will lose. If everyone is on deathhook but you haven’t been hooked yet, take aggro so your teammates can do gens while you waste the killers time.

    Look behind whenever you can.

But not as often, to avoid situations you run into objects and stop running for a sec.

Try using stable perks that help you get informations.

Like Bond, Spine Chill, Kindred, Empathy. Windows. I used to run Spine Chill most of time under 800h.

Look around where killer is coming and focus on volume of terror radius.

If you start to run and TR noise is getting bigger and bigger, you accidentally ran into killer.

(Of course, indoor maps can be delusional.)

Get familiar with tiles design and maps. Like TL walls, single pallet gym, junglegym, shack, indoor map room & building.

Maps will be hard for you memorize but try to think what main building looks like and where is shack.

(Soon) Buffed Windows of Opportunity could be helpful too.

Also try to calculate or observe generator spot.

If adjacent generators are all done, then other generators will be far from you, right?

Remembering these will certainly help you.

There are so many things you need to know to get used to. Don't be hard on yourself and enjoy!

At this point, I'd say try different ones and just play what's fun for you.

I would suggest one that's not that complicated. But the deeper corolllary is that every killer you play, you will come to understand a little more about anything you use, starting with the killer's power, even if you don't spend a single bloodpoint on them.

But.. Killkers earn say more BP per sweat-minute for every match you play, so just pick one that looks fun and go for it...

I want to report that I took everyone's advice and actually escaped 3 killers! that has never happened.

Here is the advice summary that helped me.

    1. I stopped running across the map out of fear and instead stayed close to the action.
    2. used perks designed to help escape. I used feather foot to not leave tracks. It will take some time to earn the ones mentioned but:
    3. I used premonition to know when killer is looking my way.
    4. I used Acrobat so I can jump and run
    5. I used "see killer when gens are done"
    6. I ran away much sooner and not for the corner but rather to a good spot to hide very near the hookings
    7. I played the killer to see what they see OMG you cant hide behind a tree. but also the killer has poor peripheral vision.
    8. I cut his line of sight as much as possible and vaulted as much as possible. I learned the maps by looking at them on wiki. (is that cheating? felt like it)

Amazingly 3 killers stopped chasing me. Ghost face, Chainsawm and and get this. The wraith actually gave up in the cornfield.

Thank you so very much. At midwitch elementary, I got let go by the killer because I was the last alive. Never has that happened.

    Thank you
