But it is cheating? If you really think this isn't just blatant cheating, here the literal definition of cheating is "act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination." The stretched resolution gives an unfair advantage to a few players that wasn't intended at all.
Also at least give me reasons why you think it isn't the case or anything instead of just constantly refuting everything without even explaining why. Because all you are doing is allowing people to think that it's Okie Doki to use stretched resolution, same as the people who defended mods that made traps super visible it's why this is so frustrating honestly clearly this is cheating you are only fueling the people who use this exploit.
Like do you want me to wait until the October stream where they explicitly reply to a question that asks if it's cheating to come back and tell you I told you so? Like I see no other way this is going to go when clearly they have declared similar things like the mod thing as cheating and clearly this is the same situation.

There's one group of people who makes the rules: the developers. We players have no ability to proclaim something is cheating. That's just how games work: they make it and set all the rules, we play it. Therefore, whether or not I, personally, would consider it cheating is irrelevant to whether or not it is cheating, and no argument based on dictionary definitions is going to change that.
Think about it: who decides what's fair in a game? The devs do. So why would our opinions on what's fair be relevant?

Because, there's a precedent against what you're claiming. Look no further than the community surrounding Super Smash Bros., where the entire community has the power to make the rules, and the developers do not whatsoever.
In many games, players can actually decide what is fair and what isn't fair in a game, and one of two things often happens with that. One, and most common nowadays, the unfair thing is patched out to be more fair. Two, and this is what occurs when games can't be patched, the unfair thing in question is often times banned.
The developers of Dead by Daylight should hold little to no weight in deciding what is or isn't fair for the game. The community is the one that should be deciding these based on any and all factors and evidence involved.
What is considered fair and unfair by the developers is often times moot to the reality, as the developers only look to one part of the spectrum and not the other parts of it, and thus they don't get a legitimately clear picture of what is or isn't fair unless it was just an unintended bug or glitch that occurs because of their mistakes.
When the community can agree on whether something is fair or not is what should matter, and it's what creates an actual competitive philosophy that can be followed by everyone.
Basically, who decides what's fair in a competitive game should be its community. So it's time you and everyone here rip any semblance of power you give the developers and start making your own choices. You do not need your parents (in this case, the developers) to tell you what is or isn't fair. Make your own decisions, make a competitive philosophy and make an actual ruleset that is both neutral and can be followed by most of the community.
All it takes is getting knowledgeable people into a backroom and setting the rules based on next-to-pure neutrality, reasoning and evidence.
That's how other games have done it, that's how games should continue to do it. Giving any value to the developers on whether or not something is fair in a game only makes things harder for everyone involved.

You realize all the flaws of Tru3's vid right? He didnt actually use it while looping which is what most people complain about. Like sure you can see the killer when you arent hugging the wall but at that point you should already be running.

But you are saying it's okay if it's not explicitly stated to be cheating in the rules your point is as long as the developers don't say it's cheating it's not cheating, so if there is something in the game that offers an unfair advantage to a small number of players to let them benefit from and heavily skews the balance towards them, it's okay for them to continue using that even if it wasn't intended in the first place.
Whether you like it or not what you said is implying that you are okay with these exploits as long as it wasn't said in the rules, that it's cheating, so if hacks weren't in the rules that would make it okay to use against other players. It's a silly argument to make that player shouldn't be able to point out unintended things and call them out as being cheating and it's incidentally defending all these other things and the only thing you are doing is allowing people justification to use these things, just because it's not officially stated by the devs.
And no I wouldn't know that because honestly the way you are saying these things just makes it confusing and muddled, not trying to be rude, but this is what I am getting from you because that is how you stated it.

I disagree. Developers can and should take input from players regarding what the players feel is fair/unfair, but, ultimately, the developers themselves are the ones who make the rules. You're probably referring to community-made tournaments or whatever when you bring up SSB, which is not the case in DbD.

If you use it solely for FPS like you say then why deny the objective advantage it gives you at loops as survivor or the FOV increase on nurse fatigue? Yes, there are loops that you can see people over without stretched res but it's undeniable that you gain an advantage with a larger visual when having to focus and be situationally aware of pallets and vaults while looping.

Im not denying its not giving an advantage. Im saying that the advantage it gives is so minimal its useless to complain about. People are glorifying it when they've only seen people play with it and never saw it from the native perspective.

cool idea. If you made a poll with that, I'd check it out. maybe it could use a range limit for the glowing effect though? (I'm pretty sure that's the particle effect that happens when you can see auras as well)

That video didn’t mention how it allows you to see killers in the distance where there’s gens with no Los into the distance or doesn’t like at Jungle Gyms and how it allows for easy vision at loops otherwise you wouldn’t make.Which matters with shorter killers also

Giving developers the full power is what causes things like this to happen in the first place.
If the developers had no control over what is or isn't fair in Dead by Daylight, we would have most likely already made them patch the game so that stretched resolution couldn't occur whatsoever.
The Smash Bros. community has no input from the developers as to what is fair and what isn't fair; its ruleset is made by people who are knowledgeable enough in the competitive aspect of the games that their word holds more solid ground. The developers themselves have even tried to make tournaments with their own rulesets, but they had ended miserably for a reason. It didn't work.
The developers should have little to no input on what is or isn't fair in a competitive sense, or hell, in this game's case, in any sense. BHVR simply needs to be put on the sidelines while the community itself gets its [redacted] figured out and actually gets somewhere. Only then should BHVR be consulted so that either a) tournaments and streamers are not allowed to use these or b) the developers patch out the ability to exploit the game through these methods, with option B being the better of the two.

Idk about you but without stretched I could path just fine. Plus other than maybe stealth killers what use would be seeing across the map serve? Most killers already have a 32 meter terror radius which is a big warning

Lets be honest using a stealth killers stealth on an autohaven map is basically useless unless you're a wraith. Plus huntress already has a lullaby so you should be more aware for that, spirit is spirit, death slinger is getting a tr nerf, hag you have to watch out for traps... Plus if you know the killer has tink then you should always be aware whenever a gen is 70%. Plus its incredibly easy to keep track of where the killer is so you should know which direction they're coming from. Stop acting like stretch is this almighty buff while ignoring just common sense.

I already commented about that. Plus again what are you trying to show here? If you're talking about the ghost face reveal mechanic thats entirely on bhvr for making how reveal not work on multiple resolutions.

But it isn’t just autohaven you admitted it gives an unfair advantage against stealth killers and the assumption the killer will loose off the map is simply just wrong. When they can push through but stretched resolution can eliminate their power’s effectiveness. And this also will negate perks like M&A or Tinkerer allowing for sneak ups

Stealth is still possible on those maps there’s still places for sneak possibilities this isn’t old autohaven. There shouldn’t be an option outsiders of native which you said is an advantage against killers. Where it can shutdown an entire killer play style and this goes for other realms. You’re saying that this playstyle is weaker on this map so it’s fine that I use something that gives an advantage against killers. Or survivors if you’re running this with Nurse.

Once again a terrible example...(Tru3 does that a lot btw) He fatigued in a wide open area where there was only 2 possible options where the survivor could go so once the fatigue was up it would take a half a second to look where they went which even with double recharge is before both blinks come back up

I mean i can't remember a time where a stealth killer actually surprised me on auto haven because.... I dont know THE ENTIRE MAP IS OPEN. Literally without stretched you can shutdown a stealth killers power

Except it doesn't make the game easy mode. The reality is that if you suck without stretched res you'll suck with it on just as much.
Get better and stop blaming your pitfalls and losses on someone's resolution. This community is so lame that they have to gatekeep what resolution players use and cherrypick what is and what isn't cheating or an exploit. yikes.
