Is this true? Do Survivors only have to escape to gain MMR?

Take the hypothetical presented in the video at 3:23. If a Survivor loops the Killer for 5 gens and then dies due to NOED, but another Survivor, who didn't do much except hide, escapes the trial, the Survivor who hid gets a higher MMR than the one who interacted with the Killer the whole match? Is that correct?

I am not casting judgment on the system, regardless of the answer. I am merely trying to understand it better. Once I do, then I can form a more educated opinion.
