Save The Best For Last promotes camping.
This perk is very good, it can shorten chases by quite a bit. You mostly see it on Killers with a special attack, the most common being Demogorgon, which they can use on the obsession to keep their stacks. While it's a cool perk and all, and most of the time isn't a huge issue, there are two problems with it:
- It promotes camping. Due to the extremely quick recovery time at 8 tokens, it can render saving someone who is being camped impossible. Imagine trying to save the obsession from a facecamping Killer with 8 stacks. You'll attempt to trade with them, but you'll get downed before you can even unhook them. Camping on it's own does not bother me, but I don't like things in the game that promote it, such as this.
- The fact that you can use special attacks on the obsession to keep stacks, completely ruins the name of the perk, "Save The Best For Last." Because you aren't saving them for last, you just aren't hitting them with basic attacks. This isn't the biggest issue with the perk, but it could be made to where you lose stacks when hurting the obsession with any sort of attack. Grabs are fine, though.
I'm not exactly sure what could be done about the first issue, except making it not work near a hooked person, but I couldn't really see the devs doing that to the perk. But, it makes it far too easy for the Killer to camp, and I think something needs to be done about that.

Survivors really want to see only ruin undying tinkerer every game.

I don't get it...
And how is this relevant??

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaah... We mad about power-perk synergies? Why?

The second issue isn't that big of an issue. The first one is. Please state your opinion on that one.

Being a build up perk STBFL doesn't necessarily encourage camping. You can theoretically get maximum 3 stacks from a single survivor in a single chase. Because it caps at 8 and the average is 2 per chase it actually discourages camping. If you hit an unhooked survivor you only get 1 more stack which is lackluster and slows your power creep. If the obsession is the one unhooking you run the risk of losing half your max stacks just for a hook exchange.
If you consistently run across a camping STBFL killer then its on your gameplay style honestly. Majority of the time by 8 full stacks (either ignoring or using special abilities on obsession) the game should be ending or very close to it. Which means the killer is going for a 1k to get a +/-0 pip in a losing match.
As for the second part.... no BHVR won't ever do something like that. The killers it would impact are to small to justify changing the perks power creep mechanic. Killers affected by it would only be, Billy, Bubba, Demopuppy, Nemesis, Trickster, Huntress, Twins. Out of those Trickster and Huntress wouldnt/shouldn't be running STBFL anyways, Twins power is to slow and clunky to justify it in any mid/high mmr game and the buzz saw boys usually never run it anyways.

That's not a perk issue, that's a camping issue.
If Save the Best for Last, Insidious, NOED, and Bubba were all completely removed from the game, camping would still happen.

Personally never had a problem with STBFL. Very good perk but definitely doesn't need a nerf.
Would prefer to see killers run this than a bunch of other perks.
2 -
That's correct, but I don't think a perk that helps the Killer camp so much is a great idea. They can camp all they wish, but having a perk that helps them do it? Nah.

You've never seen a camper using STBFL? It's not a common issue, but I've seen it.

It is not, you have to intentionally use your power against the obsession instead of m1 or entirely ignore him for sbtfl to be worth, and doing that you lose pressure. It's a good perk on some killers, but sometimes the buildup is not worth it. You only see the results of it, not all the work put into getting the stacks. Demogorgon is the best STBFL killer and even with him i find that i better put another slowdown perk because it's not worth the hassle of the extra time you have to spend trying to shred the obsession and maybe missing when you could just hit him.

It´s good because it makes m1 chases somewhat viable for killers lol, nowhere near op!

I've seen it used in camping plenty of times. This is more a camping issue than perk issue. Here's why:
- Insidious
- MYC + Mint Rag Hag
There perks don't need changed because they aren't that strong, but they are very good for campers.
STBFL is a very good perk. I've seen it single handedly win killers matches. Thing is I'd rather see this than another slowdown perk.

Not a problem, survivors should be avoiding the killer in the first place. If your gonna linger on gens or force interaction by attempting to run loops on them, your also running the risk of granting advantages if you fail.

None of these are relevant to the actual issue I explained in the post.

Insidious is countered by SWF. That only helps you camp in solo q. STBFL helps you camp regardless.

How is explaining "why this perk is actually not op" not relevant to the post? I've told you that you have to do a lot of work to get to the point to be able to get 2 downs on hook and yet it's still not relevant? And according to that logic Bubba is the most op killer because he can down the entire team under hook and he doesn't even have to work towards it.

The perk is only OP in this one specific situation, camping. It is otherwise fine.
I've already made a post about how easy it is for Bubba to camp. That's a separate issue.

Well then maybe you shouldn't put in the title "HOW OP STBFL IS" if you think it's only op in this specific situation, and tbh i think it's completly fine for it to work as it is.

Seemed to address your concern.
It takes effort on the killer's part and multiple failures by survivors to reach max stacks. Feeding the killer's advantage to the point that a save is to difficult without perks is a consequence of engaging with them and failing.
Saves aren't something to be given freely. If the killer uses what they have to defend a kill, cut the loss and get out.

Sure, I will edit the title, thank you for the feedback.

1. It does not promote camping, it promotes spreading pressure and chasing survivors. If you camp survivors asap, you will not get any stacks. However it does make camping stronger, which hardly ever comes in to play when using this perk since it is encouraging you to chase survivors.
2. Does.. does it really matter? It is not op for a killer like pig to use even if she can preserve stacks with her ambush attack. And it is also not op for Demogorgon to save stacks with his shred attack. They just happen to utilize the perk better than other killers, and I see no issue with that. Just about every killer has a perk they can use better than others as well. For example, Myers and monitor and abuse. Or franklin's Demise and hag.
Overall, weak bait with a weak argument.
2 -
- No, it does. Camping the first Survivor, maybe, it won't help, but I'm talking about once you have your stacks.
- No, not really. It doesn't matter all that much and as I said issue 1 is the main concern here.
People like you love to call posts they don't like "bait" just because you have nothing else to say.
0 -
Lol I mean there is nothing else to say.
A killer with stbfl will use those stacks to shorten their chases, therefore promoting chases rather than camping.
And btw no killer has ever gone out of their way to get 8 stacks of stbfl JUST so they could camp. They would just play Leatherface.

Fair point with that last sentence, however, I did not say it was a common issue. It is quite uncommon, but I have seen it.
0 -
actually, removing buba would probably remove half the campers
0 -
Bodyblocking and protection hits promote Save the Best for Last.
Do not change Save the Best for Last until killers are able to counter bodyblocking and protection hits some other way, like pushing survivors out of their way.
0 -
and removing Hag would remove the other half
0 -
Bubba and Hag are the gods of camping. I've already made posts about them though lol.
