Let Me choose where i put a hex

title. Mikaela is a prime example of why we should be able to:

A: Activate the hex on our terms on a dull totem

B: actually get use from the hex without it 90% of the time spawning next to the survivors and i get 0 benefit and minus a perk slot.

C: The fact that they gave survivors the ability to do this over killers just screams survivor sided devs even louder to me but thats my opinion.

D: As someone mentioned, another idea is having us choose where the hex spawns on the map before a match

  • Common opinions | Hexes are global and affect everyone, Boons are limited to a smaller radius and have a limited effect to their radius and take time to set up. Whether or not these are good reasons depend on your stance but these are some common things to keep in mind. Additionally, always remember that perks are subject to change and they could always make adjustments at anytime.

Secondly, Hexes are High Risk\High Reward <you can shift the game using these easily> while boons are moderate risk\moderate reward <takes time to set up and use and can be snuffed in a couple seconds>.

<Important note> I think hexes, like any other perk could use some updates but I just want to give a little perspective on things.

The random nature of the hex spawn plays into the risk/reward of such powerful perks. I dont think that will be changed. In my opinion the real problem is how powerful the meta survivor perks are considering they have little or no down side, and how lackluster the vast majority of non hex killer perks are.

While I don't mind this, now as Killer you have to spend time in the match finding a hidden totem to put it on. Good luck if you have multiple hexes. And if a survivor sees you, it's useless.

The only way to avoid the issues above is to let you choose the hex spawns before the game starts. But now survivors have an extra queue to wait in. No thanks to that.

How would you want to do this? Like a boon - walk up to a dull totem and hex it?

If so, you would have to spend time at the start of a trial looking for a good totem to hex. Until you do that, you're getting no benefit from having it at all. And do you just ignore survivors until then?

And what if the hex collects tokens...

And what about undying? You have to place two hexes before you get any benefit?

Personally, I'm happy with the randomness of hexes. It's high risk/high reward.

If the devs could tweak totem spawns one more time to prevent those awful 'in the open with no cover' totems that would be amazing ^^ or make it so hex totems don't light up for the first 60 sec of match... (that could bea good perk idea) ^^

Besides that I think hexes are fine as is. I would hate wasting time looking for a totem to light my hex ;_; plus cheeky survivors would just go find the killer first thing and watch to see if the light a hex.

Honestly I think Hexes need a complete rework into being a built in passive but massively nerfed

Ruin being 25% regression but no totem. Something along those lines.

I feel like the people pretending this would be a nerf to killer are secret spy survivor mains...

This would be nothing short of a massive buff.

what the ######### does it matter if it effects everyone or the distance, if it turns off in the first 10 seconds of it spawning next to someone

Wasting time to find totem, wasting time setting up totem just to risk survivor seeing you and cleansing right after 30 seconds yeah I think I like current state

Most of that is poor development issues, Survivors on the flip side can still hide and get rid of the hex and make it a bless. So The power still heavily lies in survivor teams

You like the current state of losing a perk in under 20 seconds or even less? okay buddy

    Addition:

There are 4 Survivors that each can interact with Totems throughout the Trial.

Thats 4 pairs of eyes and hands, that can be all over the map, vs 1 of those for the Killer that can be in only one place at a time and has very limited time in addition to his other Killer time use requirements.

The universal effect of Killer Hexes is arbitrary vs the local effect of Boons, because there are 4 seeking the Killers Hexes, but just one 1 Killer for the 4 Boons of Survivors, and the imabalance in that is obvious, as well as the magnitude/mechanics of these proposed Boons.

They are a very, very, bad idea as now proposed.

This is, again, an issue where the 4v1 aspect of this game is both ingenious but also problematic to balance.

Its crucial to bear on mind, that the Killer is ALONE vs 4 other players, and that the Killer cant do more than 1 person can.

Today I played 5 matches as killer so far 2 out 5 my hex got cleansed mid game and 3 out of 5 they stayed till very end of game so thats very situational also hex totems are high risk high reward you're not supposed to be having an option to place hex on urself imagine killer being on 1 gen till doors are powered and he goes like "oh look lemme quickly place noed at the end of game"

I wouldn't want this as a killer. It would benefit Survivors because they can watch you set up your Hex and then cleanse it. As Survivor, I love when The Killer loads into the Trial and immediately goes to check their Totem, which tells me the location to investigate and cleanse. I often see it with The Trapper and The Hag; they put traps in unusual and random places, a giveaway. I'm not sure you want to see Boons and Hexes be mirror images of each other. Imagine some powerful and global perk ideas for Boons!

    Boon: Everyone Escapes Death!

Once the Exit Gates are powered, and there is at least one Dull Totem remaining in the Trial Grounds, Boon: Everyone Escapes Death activates and blesses the Totem:

    • The Movement speed of every Survivor is increased by 2/3/4 %.
    • Survivors benefit from a permanent Impervious Status Effect.

The Impervious Status Effect provides Survivors with great refuge, allowing them to withstand any hits.

Have fun looking for EED while the gates are being opened, lol
