"Skill Based"
I have over 7k hours in DBD, devotion 33 and you're genuinely telling me that I am on the same level as this guy?
Here is some feedback for SBMM. Remove it. Its garbage. Ranks literally mean nothing in this party game.

I have 2.7k hours and I have plenty of screenshots like that one. I can often verify that they're solo players. It doesn't matter if I'm killer of survivor.
The system is only namely skill based, but:
- They outright told us it doesn't measure skill;
- The matching is made so on average 2k2e is the outcome. Have you been escaping too often? Here, play with this guy who just installed, so results look good on our spreadsheet. Have you been dying too much? Let you get carried by this team;
- The best part is that, because the system only cares about kills and escapes, it's manipulating itself by doing bulletpoint 2 to artificially attain its target. Giga brain, honestly.

We all know, including the devs, that it isn't "skill based" matchmaking its escape based matchmaking and its a horrible system for determining individual skill but apparently its making "better" matches for the majority of the playerbase so expect it to stay

agreed, mmr doesn't work, some games i get 3 hrs survs, other games - 6k hrs; whatever system they had in mind is garbage in practice

I was already sceptical about SBMM, like, how would it measure skill in a different way than rank system does, but when they told us that only escapes and kills matter, I laughed so hard.
Imagine working 2 years on it, for something that is as simple as "did you died this game ? / How many surv did you kill ?", AND someone thought "Hey, it would be a better matchmaking than the current one, that is measure how much were you altruistic, .....".
I just can't understand how it happened. It is such non sense and foolishness.

They have a real SBMM but they got lazy and didn't use it.
Had this system been used for their SBMM the matches would be amazingly better but you know it's easier to code "escaping" "kill counts" to "balance" a game.

The old emblem system, while not perfect, definitely made much more sense to measure someone's skill\decision making. Unfortunately, the system didn't work because it just tossed everyone with everyone.

To be fair, matchmaking was never based on emblem results. If emblems determined MMR, rather than kills/escapes, the MMR system might work better.

Well emblems made you pip right? And matching people with similar ranks together was the intention.
The problem is it was rainbow ranks a lot of the time for some reason.

Emblems made you pip, but black pips were still valued, and the matchmaking increased rank range every minute or so.
Having MMR be directly based on the scoring events within emblems, making MMR be based on game interaction/engagement rather than rewarding non-interactive play - it'd be better than what we have, and would allow people to have better environments which compliment and contrast their skillsets and playstyles.

I agree.
Edit: Altough, some killers are not really equal when it comes to emblems so that would need adjusting.
Some other stuff too.

While I agree, I think the 'emblem MMR' system would also give more reliable data as to which killers needed more universal buffs/reworks than the current one, and even provide insight onto which parts of the game each killer struggles with.
Emblems have never been perfect. I still stubbornly think it'd be better as a basis for MMR :P
