Green key
Since keys have been nerfed in successive measures in both a) needing charge to open hatch, and soon b) hatch won't even spawn until you are the literal last survivor in the trial as well as c) hatch opening animation to be implemented which lasts 2.5 seconds.
Why not finally allow green keys to open hatch? This change is mostly just to make finding a green key in trial without ace in the hole feel less like a gut punch that one of your chests was literally wasted on spawning such garbage.

Hatch shouldn't be a ln easier way to escape for survivor.
Sure on some maps escape through door as last surv is almost impossible. But hey killer killed

As I said, its less to do with the hatch itself and moreso to reduce how awful it feels to find a green key in trial.

Well, you don't need great items in every chest search. I'd hope for at least a medkit and I'd be happy.
Otherwise just don't look though chests

Green keys need some sort of use but not to open hatch tho.

The green key is called a "Broken Key" though. So it kinda HAS to be useless.
It's like the teddy bear in call of duty zombies, it's supposed to make you say "God damn it" the moment you see it.

If you want survivors to remain a chance of escaping, the hatch needs to remain in the game. Either that, or gates need to be hardcoded to not be easy to patrol.
Because that 1 survivor cannot be expected to do all the gens on his own, meaning he needs teammates to finish gens. That 1 survivor cannot be expected to heal up and unhook all his teammates, meaning he needs teammates. That 1 survivor often cannot heal on his own, meaning he needs teammates.
The hatch is essentially there to give players a reason to not hold the game hostage. Because really, what are you going to expect when the 3rd survivor is killed but there are 2 gens left? That survivor to give away his or her location? Or hide all game untill they can maybe touch a generator? But what if there is a 3 gen, might aswell never touch a generator because otherwise the killer knows you're there, meaning you cannot escape. So you might aswell keep on hiding untill the killer goes AFK. The hatch is a really important mechanic in DBD.

Personally, the changes I would make, would be:
Pink key
30 charges15 chargesGreen key
10 charges45 chargesI always felt like the green key's main purpose should be aura reading, the dull key's main purpose should be opening hatch, and the pink key should be a mix of both, but weaker in aura reading than the green key because it can open the hatch. I've never understood why the aura reading of the green key is so danm awful, when it's only use is aura reading.

Keys need to have some sort of in-built aura reading added to them. They're practically useless come Tuesday.

Have always thought keys secondary ability (after opening the hatch) was a bit pointless.
Maps serve the purpose of aura reading, so keys should do something else. You would never bring a key instead of a map if you wanted to see auras, you bring a key for the hatch. Although tracking the hatch and maybe chests could remain.
Being able to use key charges to 'rummage' through a chest for a 2nd item, or increasing the rarity of items found in chests when using a key, would be much more fitting.

That's why there are other keys that can allow you to open the hatch.

there's gonna be more changes to keys down the line so we just have to wait.

But you argued against the existance of hatch in general. And there are no keys inside the game vanilla wise. You HAVE to bring a key, or bring plunderers and hope for a key.

I hadn't meant too argue against the hatch. I just meant the green key shouldn't let survs have easier escapes just to give it extra power and get rid a wasted chest search

The green key is literally the only item that is rendered completely unusable by finding it in a trial. Just seems like a stupidly archaic mechanic at this point considering how gutted keys have/will become. Far better to standardize key interaction with hatch across them all, and then differentiate their strengths with aura reading from there to more ably position keys within the meta now that their 'main' purpose has been neutered.

Oh, no I agree with that, I've always seen the green key as the intended aura reading key. But even then, it's ######### at that.
Skeleton key has 30 seconds of aura reading(20 if you use blood amber), which makes sense because the dull key(5 seconds) is pretty much only good for opening the hatch and maybe wedding band as that gives permanent aura reading on the obsession, where the skeleton key needs to be different from the dull key by also being good at aura reading.
But then comes the green key. 10 seconds of aura reading, only 1/3rd as good as the skeleton key.
The only key rework that was truly needed, was buffing green key from 10 seconds to 45 seconds(it cant open the hatch, so it's only use will be aura reading) and nerf the skeleton key from 30 seconds to 15 seconds. Because believe it or not, keys arent as effective as people claim it is. People love comparing keys to mori's and demanded a key nerf together with the mori's. But a key didnt have the potential for all survivors to escape with 4 gens remaining, a mori did have the potential to kill 1 survivor after 1 single hook. If keys had the same impact as mori's, sure, they needed to be nerfed together. But keys are not even the strongest survivor item. Heck, they are barely stronger than flashlights. Toolboxes are stronger and medkits are by far the most powerful. Keys are annoying, but the only reason keys can effectively do what they do is because of toolboxes and medkits.

uh no
yes bump broken key's uses (+ have it spawn with the yellow survivor aura addon in-game why not)
no keys were not weaker than nerfed moris (originally mori = you down someone, they die, like myers' tombstone piece, utterly insane), presumably you've never lost 2-3 people or been full swf'd the instant gens are done by people that already know where the hatch is and render your - remember me? no way out? noed? blood warden? killer-advantaged gate spawn? your chance at all past gen completion of getting anyone? - completely and utterly moot
by one key and one offering, if not key/map swf combo

You think I go AFK no you won't just die or do a gen to which I may actually let you do if you beg you finish all of them then I may let you live or die but at least I let you have the points I get sweaty and thirsty for a actual chase rather than, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, teabag, escape.

Yeah, Keys were weaker than nerfed mori's(the first nerf, not the second one). And yeah, I have faced 3-4 man SWF's with keys. Keys were annoying, but they didnt really impact the course of the game that much.
Mori's though? Proxy camp 1 survivor while bullying survivors off gens, then once they are unhooked, wait 15 seconds before hitting them and then instantly remove them from the match, reducing survivor efficiency by more than 25%, making it easier to hook the second person. You would need to face the absolute best of survivors in your own skill level to not get any value out of Ebony Mori. Keys? You needed to face a killer who wasnt good at hooking survivors efficiently. You often didnt need keys to escape with the survivors you had available unless 2 survivors already died. Meaning even with the key, you had a 2k+2hatches. Where with an Ebony Mori? You just needed 1 hook to snowball. DS? Adrenaline? Any items you brought? Any other perks you brought? Useless. The only perk that would help was BT, and that only lasted 15 seconds.
They simply arent comparable. After the second nerf? Eh, keys were roughly as strong? You could still bypass DS and tunnel someone off second hook, and DS also got changed the same patch, so it was easier to hook survivors twice if they did anything related to objectives.
Keys were essentially putting salt in the wound, similar to NOED. Where Mori's were simply gamebreaking without needing a perk or addonslot dedicated to it. Not even including the fact that you could see survivors carrying a key before the game started, you wouldnt know it was Mori untill after the game started.
Yeah, keys were strong, but at least keys were part of a snowball before it could be activated, you didnt need to do ######### for Ebony or Ivory Mori.

So, because YOU dont like a mechanic, survivors have to suffer from any potential to escape? BEG YOU TO DO GENS FOR 160 SECONDS ALONE TO ESCAPE AND GET POINTS?
Jesus christ dude, play single player games instead of online games.
