Door Regression & Checkpoints
i know door regressing was tried before, but... was bad...
But what if the red lights act as checkpoints, where the door cannot regress from that point?
with that, the killer can apply pressure in one of them, but at the same time unable to stop both from reaching the next checkpoint.

Whats the problem with gates?

99%ing the gates and then opening them in a chase, in order to bypass the EGC mechanic I guess?
I can see the issue with it, although I don't think is a particularly big issue except for killers running Blood Warden. However it can be used by survivor to hold the game hostage... in a sense, because the killer could open it themselves at that point.
But if we are to implement regression to a checkpoint, I don't think the red lights are a useful marker, as they activate quite early.
I would say just the last 5% should regress. Kinda like how you can only rwcover to 95% in the dying state. That last 5% would be just enough that you wouldn't be able to tap the gate in a chase and still escape.
With that strategy no longer reliable and a substantial risk, survivors would be inclined to open the gates when they have the chance, not saving it for a last minute chase escape.

It seems like people just want the EGC to favor killers which is not the intention of the mechanic. If they have a problem with survivors 99ing gates to avoid the EGC then they can just open them to start it yourself as the killer.
EGC is intended to force survivors out of the game so they can’t hold it hostage and the current system is fine.

The egc is a terribly Implemented mechanic. It might end the game to stop taking it hostage, but it's so bad at it.
1) 99ing completely negates this mechanic and the killer opening the door does nothing except give survs a timer of 2-4 minutes to leave.
2) it does not force survivors out. You could say that when the timer hits 10 seconds maybe. Also it extends/slows for dying and hooked survivors.
3) in that time a killer can chase, down, and hook all 4 survivors and they'd still have time. (I know from experience). Yes I downed and hooked each survivor and they had time to do that...how does that force them out?
So yeah..for the egc to even be considered a end game collapse it needs to be more oppressive and relevant and stop 99ing. So yeah..that's the issue with gates and the egc. Gates shouldn't be able to be 99ed...it literally is counter intuitive...
Hope that answers your original question.

I will completely disagree. The EGC does exactly what it's intended to - which is end the game. It's not intended to favour either side which is why the killer can also open the gate. It's intended so that the game will end and prevent one side from taking the game hostage - and that's exactly what it does.

That is very true Mandy. It does do what it needs to do...but alas it still does it terribly in my opinion.

"Egc fills it's purpose because the killer can do the survivor's job for them" is just a great example of your design philosophy.

Unless, you know, there are cheaters in the game which can stop the EGC from ending the game.
You know, something that is more common with the recent uptick of cheaters? Which I have yet to see you or any other Dev/Community manager/ ANYONE Acknowledge? Is it on your radar? Or are you trying to tank your PR as much as possible with The recent NFT Stunt? I've yet to see ONE dev make any comment about the numerous hackers everyone has been encountering, yet I see you reply to many posts on the feedback forum, and you Yourself have Proclaimed that you read, "Pretty much every feedback post".
So If that's true, you've seen the posts, and Ignored Them. Weird.
But I bet BHVR will gladly take peoples money tomorrow when Mikaela Releases 🧐🤫😮
