DBD won't disappear from Steam.
Nothing is happening to DBD on Steam. Steams policy prevents publishers from selling/exchanging NFT's in game. This Pinhead NFT is not minted by BHVR and is not in the game. The NFT is a limited run of blockchain created tokens associated with the character model and created outside of the game by a separate company. In fact buying the NFT does not guarantee in game content. If you read the website it says 10 out of the 10,000 NFT's will randomly come with access to the Hellraiser chapter. Those 10 people are basically getting Steam keys for the content.
Here's the difference. You buy the Hellraiser content for the game through BHVR (or Steam or GOG or Humble Bundle etc.) This is the in game content and is not an NFT. It has no blockchain information associated to it. What steam doesn't want is for a company to say you have to buy an NFT to get in game content, in other words the NFT is part of the game. This situation isn't that. The Hellraiser chapter purchased anywhere is not an NFT.

Either way I’m still disgusted in BHVR and they deserve to be punished in some way.

Here's to VHS

You definitely have the right to stop playing the game and buying content. Everyone who wants to stop supporting them is able to.

I don’t want to quit playing though. This game has done a lot for me and came into a dark time in my life. Also I am very close to a lot of the characters.

Well then don't quit playing. I'm sure you'd be surprised to find out that most things you love in life are somehow terrible for the planet and/or humanity.
6 -
Bhvr might not be breaking the policy but I can see steam updating the policy to have nothing nft related to your product outside the games or inside the games

I'm not going to quit playing either, unless it's transferred over to Epic Games or something. I just came back a few months ago and it's very fun to play now with all of the balancing that's gone on. Late 2019-early 2020 DbD was pretty bad with old Ruin, DS and near-infinites. I'm happy with where it's at currently, just hoping that it stays on Steam.

Can't they simply extend their policy to include anything that involves crypto & nfts.
It's not the case now but I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to do so given how unpopular they are.

This is the most accurate post regarding the NFT "scandal" I've seen yet! :)
5 -
I doubt it. And here's why:
They're not THAT altruistic. It's easy to take a stance like "No NFT"s in game!" But if they take actions for something outside the game, people will expect them to do it with other things. And that could end up costing them money. They like money.
3 -
They don't need to be altruistic to see that having a game company dable in nfts outside the games to avoid the policy and having games on your service a recipe for bad pr and loss of potential money hell people are already asking for refunds

This is very true. It's my understanding that Steams policy has nothing to do with altruism. It has to do with them not wanting to get in trouble by the government regulators.

Which is why I can see them updating the policy so no one would think of pulling anything nft related while having their games on steam

What's wrong with Halloween Kills?
0 -
But WHAT IF there is actual exclusive content from those nfts ?
0 -
Nothing at all if you like fever dreams.
0 -
what are you saying?
0 -
Then the NFT producers are selling themselves short by not advertising it. Did you read the NFT website? What exactly do they say on there that alludes to exclusive content?
0 -
I'm saying I would classify that movie as the fever dream of the franchise. Did you see it yet?
0 -
Just a supposition. Im pretty sure we gonna have some surprises soon.
0 -
No, i was just wondering if there was an actual problem associated with the movie other than it being not favoured by critics

Both Boss Protocol and BHVR had said there won't be any exclusive in-game content. People can say BHVR has been contradicting themselves, but I don't think Boss Protocol would sell themselves short if they had something else to flaunt as you mention.
0 -
Unless they are actually lying, that's not happening.
2 -
That still wouldn't break the rules of Steam.
Last year we had a "exclusive" charms where if you watched a fog whisper and were able to input a code fast enough you could get a special charm. As long as the way to earn this exclusive content is via a code you enter into the in-game store it's not going to break any policy.
Unless BHVR suddenly decides to implement the ability to exchange crypto or NFTs inside the game, Steam is not going to remove DBD with their current policy and it's unlikely Steam is going to care about an NFT giving codes to unlock in game content in a video game.

They say a lot of things. Wait and see.

So do people on this forum. And they are mostly empty threats as people keep playing this game.
3 -
Right, but we still don't have voice...why? Lol I miss precosmetic bhvr

Also true yeah.

And that's how we ended up in the bad place

Let's just stay hopeful that they'll make a little exception for our dbd ;)

Everything is fine. This is some mad, internet mob level stuff. People need to go outside and breathe for goodness sake.
Chill out, people.
