The secondary objective: gasoline!
I've seen a few people suggest that survivors should have to find gas canisters before they begin repairing generators. I think it's kind of a neat idea and thought it could use a little more complexity to make it more fun and interactive.
Basically, canisters with different types of gas spawn throughout the map at the beginning of the trial. In order to begin repairing, a survivor must find a canister and add fuel to the generator. Here are some gas types I came up with. The values are rough so don't get hung up on the numbers, but lmk what you think of the concepts.
1. Regular Gas: It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. This has no effects on generator repairing.
2. Putrid Gas: This low quality gas slows down repair speed by 15% but the awful stench gives you all the motivation you need to make this trip as short as possible, movement speeds are increased by 15% while not in a chase.
3. Eye Watering Gas: The fumes from this gas are intense. All players within 8m of this generator suffer from blurred vision (similar to Clown's gas). All survivors suffer from Blindness while repairing this generator. The status effect persists for 3 seconds after stopping repairs.
4. Premium Gas: This is the finest quality gas on the market. With no impurities, it makes engines purr like a kitten. Anything that would cause generator progress regression is reduced by 25%.
5. Highly Volatile Gas: Be careful! The smallest static friction could cause this gas to explode. Survivors carrying this gas must walk.. slooowllyy. If they suffer damage or step in a trap while carrying this gas, the canister explodes and they are instantly downed regardless of health state. Movement speeds are reduced by 15%.
6. Viscous Gas: Is this gas or molasses?! Fueling a generator with this gas takes 10 seconds.
7. Empty Canister: Oh great, some inconsiderate jerk left this empty canister laying about. You must fill this at a fuel pump. (1-2 random pumps spawn on the map. Each type of gas has its own distinctive looking pump)

I like to see a 2nd object, but how to ballance it? What downside should the killer have?

This would require millions of other changes as well, and I am sure the devs cannot be bothered practically re-making the game right now.

It's a good question! but not something I was focusing on for this post. Just having some fun coming up with gas types lol

sounds....... uh.............. like it was made for a different, substantially goofier game

I wouldn't mind another objective but I truly believe if they would just fix Survivor spawns, Hex locations, and base regression everything would be better. A good QoL uprade there IMO.

*scribbles note* "impossible. Maybe DBD 2?"

I think "why would anyone use sommat other than premium?"
If you're gonna give a game mechanic a downside, there needs to be an associated upside. The design behind Putrid gets it, Eye Watering could get there with some tweaks, but it seems like Volatile, Viscous, and Empty are just bad - could there be a benefit to them?

As much as i like the idea, we all know bhvr cant do it. They cant release a simple QoL change without breaking something else.

Well the canisters spawn randomly (and maybe only one of each per trial?). So you could walk around the map looking for premium but it would take some time

Yes this is indeed a rather very serious game and gasoline is the pinnacle of humor

😓 Maybe a gas type that makes the trial bug free?!

when it's described as written in a kind of fruity slapstick-y way yeah
and kitten purring is about the last thing i think of when it comes to engine block keep-away with the slasher: the better totem chapter

Lol then they can rewrite it so it's not so... fruity (?)

thats radical for them. never happening

pina colada
but i don't think people would like being iri headed by their gen enabler also exploding at the start of the match via huntress/stealth killers
among other things i guess

Its good idea yep, because its a little bit stupid survivors start to working on gens with any other objective excepto to finish it... That idea could be great because atleast survivors can t do gen rush so often... Has a Killer main, my games are not being fun... Since they introduce MMR in my opinion the game got more comp... Since devs don t play the game.. and since they don t undertand that SWF is too much OP...
