New killer & Survivor ideas

We need more creepy killers like the originals along with some jump scares.

The trickster looks like he stepped out of a 90s arcade fighter, but I digress.

So I’ll leave this out there.

The Jester.

He will look non human with beady black eyes. If you have seen the film cats eye, imagine a similar look to the troll.

The Jester has bells on his hat you can hear, uses a wavey dagger and laughs hysterically, very creepy looking.

Power, peek a boo

You have the ability to hide in a locker for an unrelenting surprise attack.

Cannot hide in basement.

Perks

Blended

2 hatches spawn one has a mincer unknowingly, animation of blood spurting out when a survivor enters. 3 seconds to reactivate so another survivor may enter believing it’s safe.

This may require the hatch going back to the previous version or when the perk is selected the hatches will be like previous.

Jack in the box

When a survivor opens a chest there is a surprise waiting.

(A mini version of the killer pops out and strikes the survivor)

Causes injury.

Killer must activate a chosen chest. Once per trial.

I’ve lost my marbles

Place marbles in a generator to trigger an explosion and alert.

Once a survivor starts repairs there’s a loud bang and marbles fly everywhere.

Can be used once every 180 seconds.

New Survivor

He is a supernatural expert and dresses Victorian.

Perks

I see you

A tracking blow dart to fire at a killer to reveal aura to all survivors until it’s pulled out. Killer can only see the blow dart when hooking or entering a basement. You have 1 dart don’t miss.

You have no power over me

Auras of all survivors are revealed to each other and hidden from the killer.

activates when last generator has popped.

Activates for 40/50/60

Fear not

You have the ability to use your torch while on the hook and drop items from the hook for fellow survivors.

This will add more fun to the game for both sides and bring back the element of horror/jump scares.

Dude looks corny. Also yet another killer idea built around the idea of hiding in lockers, the least useful of potential powers.

Can you suggest a better jump scare ? What if the locker hiding was a perk? Suggest a new power?

What about the other perks? the killer don’t need to look exactly like the image just throwing out an idea for the jester.

DBD doesn't need jumpscares. At least not in the way you're proposing them. It's a more interactive game than say FNAF or Spooky's Mansion of Jumpscares. The best generated jumpscares that exist in this game come from killers who either use TR deleting perks, built around stealth, or just in general really fast.

Killers having locker centric perks and powers tend beyond say reloading a ranged weapon would have a problems in a chase. Perks like Iron Maiden already don't get full value because you're almost never going to be near survivors when they pop out of a locker with the exposed condition. Teleporting in DBD is one of the most despised abilities by survivors as well, but setting that fact aside is the issue that the amount of lockers on a map is quite high and the game can barely handle two respawning zombies without coming apart at the seams apparently.

If I were going to give this character any power I would probably give him a disguise perk so he turn into other survivors or a power that allows him to put his TR on a survivor as a practical joke which would then allow him to sneak up on other survivors. The second idea is basically like Dark Devotion, but without the obsession gate.

Good idea, ok Let’s stick to the locker for a moment, in order to disguise yourself you need to enter one? That way you can still surprise attack or change to a survivor at the same time.

It would be easier on the killer if they could make the change when not in line of sight of a survivor that messing with lockers altogether. Making it a line of sight check keeps it more generally more mobile and doesn't require adding in coding, animations, and timings to lockers which are already one of the more buggy interactables in the game. They've been buggy for years and seem to only be getting worse over time.

You get stuck in them, killer reloads stop working, you go in, but your character model just pops out the side, killers interacting with lockers suddenly losing the ability to use their power, etc. Since you can't count on these sorts of issues to be resolved at this point with any definitive sense. Making it a line of sight check is marginally better. While LOS has its own long standing issues they do at least get addressed much quicker than the interactable bugs do.

You could add a killer specific interactable like a costume trunk, but that sort of takes chunk of the surprise factor out of it. It would have to standout from normal interactables and survivors would then probably get the option to destroy it or temporarily block the killer from using it as a balance mechanic which would mean the killer only really gets their power when teams aren't smart. Which puts you in the Plague scenario of having her keynote feature being heavily controlled by survivor actions rather than her own.
