Which chapter was your favorite at release?
Better question, which chapter was actually playable upon release?

Stranger Things.
No bugs to my recollection, brought two extremely popular Survivors and a good Killer, plus a TON of new players.

Loved Descend Beyond and All-Kill
Curtain Call, and Shattered Bloodline were probably the most functional on release tho
EDIT: If you ignore The Huntress changes that is...

Silent Hill. It was overall bug free, great killer, great survivor, fun map (imo, I know it's generally disliked), short queues. The hype at the time was enormous and imo it was the last good release of a chapter. After the Realm Beyond everything went downhill.

SILENT HILL! I was literally jumping up and down when it released, partly because I predicted it beforehand on the forum (despite all of the naysayers!), but mostly because I was super excited for Pyramid Head! And he did not disappoint, that's for sure 😊

Saw is what brought me back after I trailed off following my beta/early play. QA was better back then.
Silent Hill was just clean on release, even by the standards of other, more competent devs.

Based off my favorite chapters ever since I started playing:
- Hellraiser
- Silent Hill
- Descend Beyond
- All-Kill
- A Binding of Kin
- Resident Evil

I haven't been around for too many chapter releases, however I'd say my favorite chapter on their release was probably Cursed Legacy. I have very fond memories of that chapter releasing. I thought Oni was the best thing on the planet and Yui's perks were fun. It was also the first chapter to release after I started playing dbd. The other ones I've been around for I either don't like the killer, have no neccessary idea one way or another, or were buggy af on release (looking at you Nemmy and Twins).

Darkness Among Us, purely because of the menu's theme music and atmosphere.
It's such a shame it got replaced so quickly with the Solstice event 2018, and didn't return after the event ended.
Meanwhile, we had to put up with three months of bad accordion playing when Curtain Call came out...

Silent hill. Didn't even like the franchise before that but the chapter was amazing

I personally regard chapters as survivor+killer+map.
Anyway, I would say Halloween 🎃

The Resident Evil Chapter. It was obviously buggy and laggy, but Nemesis was one of the best killers they have ever added. I love my Hefty tentacle slobber knocker.

For me, favorite and playable have two very different answers:
Favorite: Resident Evil (Finally, a game with a playable Nemesis that isn't a barren wasteland or not out yet)
Playable: Silent Hill or Stranger Things (I don't remember a single bug from either of those chapters)
While I could play Resident Evil because I'm on PS5, I know there were a lot of people who couldn't (including every last gen console) so I decided to split my answer.

Curtain Call was amazing on release.
It brought Kate, Clown, and one of the best maps in the game. Clown was hyped up because of his unique anti-loop back then, and also being the first killer to handle infinites.
2.0.0 was also supposedly the best state the game has ever been in back then.

The Oni was SUPER enjoyable. That was the last time I felt lost in the hype of the "who's it gonna be?!" speculation.
Stranger Things was also great, but more like a "wow they actually got a huge, current license" kind of way.

I started playing during the Fourth Anniversary Event, so I only have 6 chapters to choose between. And honestly, all of them are pretty crap IMO.
- I don't like Pinhead, Nemesis or Twins, and I hate Trickster. And I guess Blight himself are okay, but the Blight players are all the same.
- All-Kill and Hour of the Witch both released perks that you weren't even able to use.
- I don't remember much from "A Binding of Kin". But the resident evil Chapter was a hell of a ride.
So my favourite chapter at release was probably "Descend Beyond". Because... well... Felix.

Probably chains of hate. I wasn’t around for my favourites like demise of the faithful and everything past descend beyond was trash

I rememeber that when Deathslinger was released I had such blast with him. I was just keep playing him, it was rly fun.
Sadly he is now nothing like he was so I don't play him anymore after his terrible unfun changes.
