Second objectives or all killers get passive abilities? Which happens first?
Since gen speeds dont want to be touched what could be done?
We see killers with passive abilities such as pinhead with hook hunt, freddy with dream state, etc.
As an example, you could have doc slowly increase terror with his terror radius (without the screaming until they increase in level like his old mode).
Or second objectives which have been discussed in other threads such as getting generator parts to finish the gen, fuel to keep the gens running, etc.
Thoughts on what happens first?

Second objectives would be preferable. Something like having to find fuel to repair gens or something along those lines.

tbh gen speeds arent the problem. its maps that are way too big for the killer to navigate that are. some are so big that by the time u get to the gen its almost done, which is a very tough situation. no real way to defend it unless u have a hooked survivor next to it. i wouldnt mind seeing passive abilites but i also do kinda hate the aspect of them giving free pressure. thankfully pinhead is the only one with this (nemesis too but the zombies end up getting stuck anyways) so its not a huge problem rn. its hard to give killers a meaningful passive that also doesnt just let them have pressure just because theyre playing a certain character.

Well since Pinhead and Nemesis already have Passive ability , I'd say passive ability

Do you mean survivors get passive abilities?

Second Objectives will be put into the game on Oct 19th with Boon totems.

Exept those are for killer but you are right

They're really to add time to the survivor. Killers can effectively ignore them. However, they're really so weak, Survivors and Killers will ignore them after the first 2 weeks.

Are the zombies really considered that useful of a passive for nemesis?
I would rather he slowly gains infection throughout the trial to have at least a lv2 tentacle.

But I mean for mandatory ones for survivors

Useful or not, they are a passive ability. So that happened first.

Well , useful is subjective, but they are indeed a passive power.
Just think how many times you are forced off a gen by some stupid zombie while Nemesis is across the map

That's true🤣 zombies are either really useful and guard gens or run into trees

I like the passives, personally. I think they tend to be the more interesting option, because PH's "active passive" cages, Nemi's zombles, or the half objectives of the other PH's box and Freddy's Dream state - they're just neat ways to differentiate the game. I feel things get less stale if there's a mix of these in the game.
However, the 'second objective' idea seems to be where BHVR is leaning. PinBoi's passive is a pressured second objective. With killers getting boons to worry about, which can absolutely ruin a chase with any halfway decent survivor and equivalent killer, the devs are more likely to see 'tantalizing distraction' as a worthwhile addition over adding more game variance - especially as they've been saying in interviews that they're not liking when killers can surprise survivors, and their changes have been along the lines of trial normalization.

If the Boon totems are Meta, then it's pretty much mandatory. However, the current boon totems are not.

Since Pinhead is introduced, I prefer to have Killers with passive ability like him.
Putting 2nd objective vs Pinhead & Ruin is absolute nightmare for Solo.

Probably passives. I kinda wish they did this for all killers tbh.

I am trying to think what other passives they would give existing killers 🤔

Doctor could get a Madness passive which slowly fills Survivor's meters.
Spirit's passive is her phasing.
Trapper could get a passive involving trap camouflages or trapped pallets.
Nurse could get 'shadows' that blink toward players - recognizably not Sally herself, but visual noise and enough movement/sound to distract a player.
Legion could have the other 3 members not being played hiding in lockers, blocking those 3 off.
Pig could get in-game accolades for adorability - or be able to look down/up more than most killers, due to the height differences and potential for Assassin's Creed moments :P

Pig booping the snout gives her instadown and a her traps again🤣
Love the other ideas...always wanted legion to do more...I mean 4 of them and they don't help?

That would make each killer viable which would be nice for variety if nothing else.

I had the idea like there are like 10 hatchet lockers for Huntress to reload around the map. A survivor interact with a locker to break hatchets. The next time Huntress reload hatchet at that exact locker will get -1 hatchet less than her max capacity. She either has to pay time to reload again for that 1 hatchet, or continue the chase. After that the locker will be reset, survivors have to interact again.
Its all about survivors pay extra times to weaken Killer, though my idea is just an option, not direct requirement like Pinhead.

Well they’ve obviously already started going in the direction of passive abilities with nemesis and pinhead.

MAPS. The solution has and always will be maps. Gen speed is FINE on smaller maps. Gen speed is NOT fine on giant maps. There will always be some variance but MAPS are the main problem with balance.
You have maps like coldwind which can have as little as like 8 pallets. Then you have the Game which has 5 god pallets. 6 safe pallets. and 37 filler pallets. You cannot have this level of discrepancy. Map balance is the end all of this game.

I'd really rather the secondary objectives.
A lot of the passives are....Kinda #########? They either win you the game or they do nothing, BHVR reworked doctor because his passive was really stupid. Why they added more killers with passive powers is confusing and pointless.

The objective is already almost impossible to finish. If anything, it needs to be lessened.

Pinheads has worked out quite well and even made hoarders and Franklin's possible for different builds for chain rushes.
0 -
I have yet to see any killer run those perks but sure I'll take your word for it.

if you don't take franklin's on hag vs an item heavy group (especially with multiple flashlights or medkits) you're missing out
but generally it's a superior sloppy butcher since because sloppy doesn't reduce item heal efficiency, franklin's actually denies the self-reset

I dislike the idea of secondary objectives since some survivors dont like doing their primary objective. What I would like is killers being able to use whatever 4 perks they want, like normal, but let them have free access to one of their teachable perks at maybe like tier 1.

Yeah hoarder franklins ruin and undying on pinhead are quite good as long as you can land chain shots and target whoever picks up the lament configuration.

That would be interesting 🤔
