99ing exit gates should not even exist.

I agree with this TC. I play mostly survivor and some killer. it's a pain when you're on death hook and you watch someone 99 a gate your heading for and run away. with the killer after you. and when you as player don't 99 a gate and you open it to get out you get chewed out by other players because they can't make a save in endgame without any risk. Or if you're running from the killer and you see the 3 red lights but then realize the gate isn't actually open you're dead.
For killers I understand the blood warden argument. a solution to to this would be if blood warden activated as the gates were open. taking into account a hook after the gens are done.

Tbh Blood Warden is a dumb perk design in the first place, rewarding the killer, for survivors doing their job. Same goes with Noed, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, ect. I do give Unbreakable a slight pass, as it does prevent toxic killers from wasting everybody's time, by letting them bleed out. But it also isn't too fair to killers, that rely on slugging, because it's optimal for their power.

You dont seem to be grasping that EGC isnt supposed to give bad killers free kills. Its just supposed to bring the match to an eventual end.
Stop asking for the game to kill the survivors for you and do it yourself.
If you want a perk that regresses the gate (slowly) then by all means ask for one. Just be prepared for survivors to get one to progress the gate slowly while theyre away too...

As someone who plays survivor and killer regularly.. I still completely disagree, sometimes the exit gates are too close together and you have line of sight between both of them (e.g. huntress sitting throwing hatchets from one gate to another), this gives survivors a huge disadvantage, tie that in with gate blocking perks and NOED and you have a significant challenge as a survivor.
Basically you just want it to be even easier for the killers rather than have to use skill
If the gates were going to regress at all, it would have to be another killer perk or killer damage but even then you have to keep it realistic and not have it regress too fast.

I agree, 99'ing the exit gates is a pain up the butthole. Especially when you have some annoying berk teammate standing in the way of the panel at 99%, not allowing you to escape.
After 10 seconds of being idle, the exit gate progress should start to regress similar to Ruin.

Can't say I've ever heard someone complaining about 99ing exit gates. What's next you gonna complain about Mike Myers 99ing his power, it's strategy
2 -
the end game collapse is to stop survivors holding the game hostage rather than forcing them to act. It gives the killer the chance to open the gate and trigger end game and not have to worry about survivors stealthing it out forever.
That said, many perks to do with the exit gates being open should really come into effect when the gates are powered, not opened.
3 -
Best to way to fix that would be to make it so that you have to complete the animation of pulling the switch down, which is like 3-4 seconds.

They could adjust for solo survivors but eh,
0 -
Downing survivors shouldn’t exist.

I've said 10000000 times now, I'm not gonna let them doo things just to open the gate. bottom part though, please add to the game. and then make the EGC start as soon as 5 gens are done and ill be fine
1 -
someone had a better idea. EGC starts as soon as all gens are done, and then the EGC will last 1 minute longer. finally, if the EGC ends. The game stops, and you don't get any kill points on the survivors, and survivors don't get any escape points
0 -
waste of time though. giving up maybe some pressure? giving them free unhooks? free heals? no thats not how this game works. this just ignores the point of being a killer to potentially help them escape
0 -
stop baiting. aint funny
0 -
yeah. but someone had a far better idea and i added that to this. being how this now works:
the EGC starts as soon as 5 generators get done, the EGC has an extra minute. if the EGC end the survivors get no escape points, and the killers get no kill points. then, it favours no one, and makes for more enjoyable games
0 -
Devs already tried this, it sucked, won't happen, adapt and move on.
If they manage to 99 the exit gates then you pretty much lost at that point. Stop expecting and demanding the game to hold your hand and give you a win when you lost.
EGC is not there to help the killer or to put pressure on the survivors, it is there to prevent games lasting an absurd amount of time. If they 99 the gates and refuse to do anything else, you can open the gate and trigger the EGC.

this makes it so the EGC does not favour anyone, forcing survivors to be under pressure for their unhooks, heals etc. and the killers under pressure for the kills and more, this will also prevent the game from lasting an absurd amount of time.
and I haven't even lost to 99ing i just thought about it and thought "this just renders an entire game mechanic useless" and came up with the regression idea. which was terrible, i agree. i think this idea is much better and makes the EGC fair. not killer-sided. and it starts as soon as 5 gens are done because well, thats the end game pretty much, making more sense to make that the EGC
0 -
You can force it open by approaching and interacting with gate lever. Case closed.
5 -
Personally, as i said up there. I dont actually lose due to it. I just think its bypassing the most fun part of dead by daylight. the EGC.

I'm getting tired of saying this! I've said 10000000 times now, I'm not gonna let them doo things just to open the gate. just make the EGC start at 5 gens done with an extra minute. but the killer doesn't get kill points and sur don't get escape points once EGC reaches 0. instead of survivors dying, the game ends. and if u didnt escape you dont get escape points. And you dont die. and killer doesnt get the kill points

99ing is fine. There are perks to combat exit gate progress if it's that big of a problem for you and you, as the killer, can open it yourself if you really want Blood Warden in play.
6 -
i dont have problems, i dont run blood warden. it just doesnt make any sense, its dull, boring and mostly. It bypasses a mechanic.
0 -
I don't even understand why this is a problem.
The survivors already had time to 99% the gate. That means they could have easily escaped and most likely want to have time try to save a team mate.
MOST of the time this happens:
- There are 3-4 survivors left. When it's only two (and god help us, one) doesn't happen.
- A survivor 99's and stands by the gate waiting to open if another is being chased (which is the same difference of fully opening them)
- The Killer is camping the last survivor they downed because the gens are done. Survivors need time to try to rescue which may or may not be successful (If there's NO-ED they need to look for the totem. If Bubba is facecamping there are hook exchanges etc). In Solo queue, 80% chance they leave you to die on the hook and not even try.
What are these "free escapes" your talking about? Because from my perspective, they already practically opened the door. It's just they might have had a bit more time to try to save a camped survivor. Sounds like you don't want them to have time to do that. I mean keys have already been gutted to a point they're just about useless. The hatch now only appears if you're the last survivor, making chances of escape for last man standing next to nothing.
And now if you're the only one left, AND you aren't facing a high mobility Killer, or a range Killer, AND the Exit Gates don't spawn close together (like usual), your only hope (which is less than 16%) of opening that gate is to do it little by little and hide.
So that should be made even more impossible then?

Not sure when it’s going to click for you that, as several have said in this thread, EGC was introduced for one reason only: to ensure an end to the trial. The mechanic is not being bypassed by 99ing exit gates, only delayed.
2 -
Where you been? This thread seems to come up at least once every three months since EGC was introduced.
2 -
Gates are free to open as killer. Go for it.
4 -
The killer can literally open it themself, negating this issue you claim exists. Just open it if it bothers you that much.
3 -
as i said, they can adjust to it 1 survivor, heck even buff the time for 1 survivor so it takes less time. but as i afore said. EGC should start when all gens are done
0 -
it bothers meit bypasses the most fun part. its not an issue. just make it start when 5 gens are done
0 -
i know. its to ensure the end, but 99ing seems like it counters that. idk maybe just dont change anything. or just make EGC start once all gens are done but if it end killers dnt get kill points, survs dont get escape points.
1 -
i maybe in the minority but to me as long as the gates are 99 i have unlimited time to still secure kills and no timepressure
3 -
You probably shouldn't list Realms, but specific maps instead, because Macmillan, Autohaven, Coldwind, Crotus, Forest, Springwood, and Yamaoka all have maps that the doors can spawn significantly far apart. While some can spawn with a lot of tiles between the doors making patrolling between them long.
Lery's, Hawkins, Gideon, and RCPS maps can spawn with a lot of tiles between the doors making patrolling them long.

Clearly, I'm so bewildered by it what the hell haha
1 -
How is it bypassing if they still have to open it anyways, I'm a bit confused, like hatch bypasses EGC but 99ing gates just delays it? What am I missing ><
2 -
Just had some dork 99 the gates...Hillbilly rushed over. I was already injured and got downed.
The gate expert attempted to evade the Hillbilly...but as he opened the exit gate..he got chainsawed. The Hillbilly picked him up...and I managed to crawl out the open gate. And he died on the hook.

You clearly do have a problem with it if you are making a thread about it.
Dead by Daylight currently has bigger problems than someone 99'ing an exit. Honestly if the exit progress did deplete killer's would just abuse it.
3 -
What is 99ing an exit gate?
0 -
It means a survivor opens the gate to about 99%. That means EGC isn't initiated and it just takes a tap to open the gate
2 -
Thus having the advantage of an "opened" gate without the consequence that is the egc.
0 -
Open means open. 99 is not open.
2 -
fair
there are, like sbmm etc, and this doesnt bother me i nthe way you would think.
Anyways, off to bed.
