I honestly dont get this community.... seriously some people need to get the teachable empathy lol
I dont get why people are so hateful to others, like seriously doesnt matter what role they're playing or if they are better or worse there is no reason to be rude, mean or just straight up disrespectful.
We're meant to be a "community" and all it ever seems to be is fighting over things or trying to upset, bully or BM someone....
Did I miss something? Like seriously take a hard look at yourself and think about your actions. It's not funny or cool to be rude. I hate how I see my teammates bully a killer, or other survivors BM other survivors, I hate the toxicity and entitlement.
Maybe just maybe we could be understanding? Polite? Somewhat nice?
Higher skill than the killer? Dont BM about it.
Someone DCs early? Dont 3man slug the others.
You lost? Just say gg
You won? Say gg
Its honestly sad that if you give compliments to people in this game even if they lost it makes there day. Just imagine how bad of a community it must be for people to never receive anything nice but instead just hate.
Yeah it's a rant, but damn do I hate horrible people, even if you ain't doing it to me personally just dont. Definitely grew up in a different generation pfft.

Just to say, we aren't all like that. :)

Definitely not, but it's a very slim minority. Just saying in my 5 years iv barely received anything nice within this game (obviously iv had a few but not many in comparison)
I played 3 games today, all my team BM the killer and obviously upsetting them and they just quit or stand in a corner. Like why.... yeah it's a game but theres no need for it in the first place.
People are here for fun. So I dont get it..

On console you cant turn of messages from just one game. So sadly I'm not able to actually do so without ruining a bunch of other games.
Like I said it doesn't even have to be aimed at me I just dont get why or when it became the norm to act this way.
It has never been this bad when I was younger, even in high competitive games. Just seems to get worse as years go on.
Why does multiplayer have to be linked with toxicity, I dont get it.
Clearly there are people who would never dream of it so why is it becoming acceptable to do such things...

No turn off messages from everything on console its worth doing :)

No it's not. I get many nice messages from random people all over the world, hell I still get messages about a record I set years ago and haven't played since.
I will not turn off all communication because of 1 game and because we think its acceptable. Imagine having to tell people to turn off their stuff instead of telling the horrible people to act better.
It's like saying to a murder victim, oh hey you probably shouldn't go out and should void everyone.... like no murders shouldn't murder.
It's an exaggeration yeah but it's the same point.

Slugging is a tough one, as sometimes it happens (you down someone and see someone else nearby, then can't find the original person because they crawled off to Neverland).
That said - this cuts both ways. Almost every time I wind up with a 3 or 4 man escape, I get teabagged and flashed at the exit. No matter what I do, I get berated in postgame.
I'd love to see BHVR start moderating things, because communities like this make it hard to encourage new people to try it.

Sorry but then expect salty comments, this is how it is, it is not acceptable but welcome to the world, sadly there is so much going on, oddly I dont get that much hatr, Mr Mushwin turns comments off, if you are not willing to do so, just sadly be use to this sort of stuf and its never going to go away so i guess deal or block

I feel that, but you also need to take steps to protect yourself.
You need only look at my recent posts to see what I deal with, I definitely empathize.

I agree to some degree, but of course not everyone is like this and I run into tons of amazing people every time I play. I think it's just the bad apples of the community spoil the rest through your eyes. A lot of people are content hiding behind a screen to say mean comments because there's rarely any actual consequences to their actions.
I try to be the change I want in this community. I'm on console and I'll go out of my way to send Gg wp, and compliment a survivor or killers playstyle or perks. Sometimes I get harsh or rude messages, but I try to entertain the thought that they've had a bad day and maybe a few too many bad matches, and be kind even if they're upset.

I have to say, 100% of the salty/abusive messages I get after a game are from survivors.
And when I play survivor I would say about 85% of the time my team kills me, not the killer.
Survivors themselves have taught me not to have mercy for them for they will have none for me. So I don't pull any punches any more.
Someone DC'd at 5 gens? Well that sucks, hope you guys can get those gens done.
Everybody misplayed and ended up slugged? That sucks, hope you got unbreakable.
Got farmed off the hook? That sucks, hope you have DS otherwise you are going right back on it.

It's content creators fault.
The game's biggest advertising is it's content creators, and BHVR puts all of their resources into it. However since the beginning there is now more content creators using bully simulator to make being toxic in game look normal.

There are those of us who do our best to be empathetic no matter which side we are on. But honestly, after years of watching people pummel each other verbally over a game, you begin to see a futility in saying anything to maybe calm the situation because the fact is, being booty holes to each other is almost seen as an extension of the game to some people. At that point, the best you can do is just not be one of them.

Those hateful people use empathy to redirect the killers attention onto you. Don't be sad that the selfish players don't have that perk. Trust it's a nightmare when a selfish player uses it

I disagree.
You won't eliminate it entirely, but LoL worked wonders with the Tribunal system back in the day. That game was deep fried cancer, and within a few months it was night and day toxicity wise.
Now, DbD probably isn't big enough to justify something as elaborate and complex as the Tribunal, but some basic moderation would be a good start. Something like 'if you get reported enough times, a moderator will take a look at your account'.
