This game will never be balanced
Devs are obviously oblivious to the balance that this game offers to the high levels of play. It’s really upsetting. Ntm nerfing killers that actually had control over the chases rather than survivors is equally infuriating. How are you supposed to catch a team of 6k hour survivors that make no mistake. (Unless you’re nurse) How t f is this supposed to be fair for weak killers like clown or ghost face?Ntm it doesn’t help that half the boon totems on almost every map can’t even be cleaned. This game is an absolute joke.

Tbf in almost any game only a small portion of it is truly viable at higher level play, and if something is too strong then its banned in tourney play
DbD is nothing special when it comes to this

No killer with the exception of nurse stands a snowballs chane against survs running all meta perks and high end items. Thats why comp has so many rules about what perks, items and maps can play. Even then the game is fairly lopsided.

The game is balance around the 1v1 so ofc survivor will have the upper hand in a 4v1 game.
1 -
i mean.. to be fair, this is an asymmetrical game.

Exactly there’s absolutely no chance but hey spirit actually making survivors play. Gets nerfed. It’s obvious what side they’re on..

“to be fair…” the irony..

Im hoping VHS does well, this game needs some competition.
3 -
So that means it cant be balanced? That sounds like a logical fallacy.

Me too, but I have my doubts. This game has some serious potential. But the poor decisions the devs keep making continue to stack up. I’m seriously just starting to think they care more about sales at this point then the actual community.

i'm just going to leave this here.

Hmm, I think you may be on to something. 🤔

That does not mean a game can't be balanced. Ya just gotta try to make the four on one side collectively as close to balanced compared to the one on the other side as possible.
3 -
Actually. The game would be much more enjoyable if they deleted these forums.

You could play make believe and delete your account.

oh hello TAG :0
i'm not implying that it cannot be 'balanced'. based on my understanding on this community's idea of 'balance', it can very much have changes to help benefit both sides. however, because of the nature of the game and its type, you're still going to have issues that will always maintain some sort of unbalance for both parties, RNG being one of them. the game is designed to feature unbalanced dynamics for a reason, and it's to keep it from becoming stale or boring for most people. think of it as like a board game like 'sorry!' or a card game like UNO. they're, by logic, asymmetrical party games as well because of the RNG factor of the cards and whichever rulesets you decide to use.
in this case, the "ruleset" of dead by daylight is hook and kill or escape, and the RNG is your maps, tiles, perks of the other side, etc.
that's why i decided to respond to this thread's title, which is "this game will never be balanced", because they're actually right; it never will be balanced! i just thought it'd be fun to bring this point to the table.

Not talking about map tiles, they’re fine. But most survivor perks, items, and addons are busted to high hell. And devs still pamper them. While they give killers barley anything.
like for example this latest patch. Gives survivors a boon that can be relit unlimited amount of times give survivors the boon buff and one of them can hide scratch marks and blood. On top of that Hal of them can’t even be cleaned by the killer. But of course killers got the trapper and plague buff that’s barely noticeable.

All this game needs rn, is cutting all map size by half. Make them smaller, then balance from there. Smaller maps allow killers to patrol better, thus eliminating the need for slowdown perks

TRUE

The game can be balanced, but the devs don't want to put in the work to fix the spaghetti code.
Also, this. Community dev team has made some of the worst decisions for the game. I remember a time when half the community was adamantly against cross play. Cross play is probably one of the few things that has kept this game afloat. Alot of people are still salty about it, and they will never allow themselves to like cross play and they've never played a game that can efficiently utilize cross play like this game can and has.

Too many survivors want equal 1v1.

Not really, well at least I don't.

There are a fair number of players who incorrectly believe that the game is supposed to be balanced so that half the time the killers stop all the gens and the other half of the time the survivors finish all the gens. That's not accurate though, what the devs actually want is for the most common results to be some survivors escape and some survivors die, and the least common results to be everybody escapes or everybody dies. But what that means is that, in most games between equally skilled players, 1-3 survivors will escape through the gates and therefore in most games the gens will be done.
So when you go into the game as a killer expecting that half the time you'll be able to stop the gens if you played well, you're actually going into the game with the wrong expectation. What you should really be expecting on average is that roughly half the time you get 0-2 kills and the other half you get 2-4 kills, and most of those games will be in the 1-3 kills range with the exits open. That's what the devs are presumably looking for in their data. I doubt they're "unaware of the game balance", they just have a different desired goal for the end results on average and are balancing around that.

Same here, the game gets really dull once the only threat can be easily toyed with.

I can't even load into a match to see how balanced it is or isn't...

I don't care about VHS but I'm super excited for gun media's new game. Let's all hope it's good 🤞

Even in broken fighting games, there are at least a few characters that can compete. There is literally one character in this game, and even that is questionable. The game is horrifically balanced.

Same, I loved F13. F13 felt like a true horror movie experience especially when you're the last counselor standing.

no they balance around new players. hence why ruin go changed to be where it is now. Ruin in low ranks will get tons of value cause they will move at the sound of a tr or spine chill proc getting free value but in high ranks it either goes in 20 second or it stays up the entire match but gens still get done fast

I miss timing Jason out as tiffany :( lol

The game is 1v4, meaning that in a perfect world the combined efforts of 4 perfectly played survivors should equal the efforts of the one perfectly played killer.
Unfortunately the world isn't perfect, and so survivors are granted a noticable edge to make up for human error in their individual and collaborative decision making. This survivor-favored game-play actually needs to exist to some degree since it is absolutely harder to work in a group than it is to rely on yourself.
The sucky thing is that the skill-cap for the core mechanics of this game (generators) is quite low and the player-base is also largely casual.
Because it's casual, people are more likely to goof around on a regular basis, requiring a larger handicap to be provided for the side requiring team collaboration. Because the skill cap for objective taking is rather low, it's easy for even relatively unskilled groups of survivors to take control of games if they want to get serious.
---
In short, as long as this is a casual game and the objective (generators) in this game is simplistic in nature, this game well forever remain survivor-sided.
But also keep in mind that a casual audience looking for a quick and easy thrill is their target market nowadays.
So expect things to never change anytime soon.

It's...definitely better than it used to be. Still too many weak killers, useless perks and addons worse than an empty slot, but - from when I started a year ago - it's a million times better.
While it's busted (possibly disabled?) right now, MMR was a huge step in the right direction.
