What does Devotion mean?

I leveled up to Devotion 2 and I was wondering what does it mean to level up like that. Does it give you more shards? That's my question.

How many times you got to level 100. Nothing else

indirectly, if i remember right, leveling from 1 to 2 takes less XP than say, 78 to 79. THerefore it is easier to get the shards, so yea.
