Unpurchased Character is suddenly unlocked

My brother just opened the game (around 6:30ish pm for us) and noticed Ash is unlocked in his list of Survivors. He has not purchased that character/DLC, I did not buy it for him, and it wasn't there earlier. He's just... there. 👀

He does not appear in the list of bought DLC, either.

Not that we're complaining about free characters, lol... I just assumed it's a glitch and warned him not to spend BP on him, as if it is a glitch, it'll likely get fixed next patch or so. Fun while it lasts, but it could just be a loss of BP.

What should we do about it? Just ignore that he's there? (That'd be my move for right now..)

Edit: sorry, we're on PC, Steam, if that helps..

    It happened again!

Mikaela is unlocked for him, and he hasn't purchased her! I did, and I have her, but for some reason he has her unlocked too. :/

it seems that it has something to do with 2 or more accounts playing on the same computer, after I saw your post I checked my brother's account, he is not playing dbd anymore but his account is still here and he used to play on my computer.

he had like 4 dlcs if I can recall correctly, but after logging into his account today to check this issue, I saw that he has full access to all characters (I have all the dlcs on my own account).

    edit: platform steam - pc - win10

Might be it. My brother and I play on PC, Steam, and our accounts are linked to allow library sharing when possible. Maybe that's the cause? Maybe sometimes I'm just not noticing it otherwise.

I've checked the family sharing and indeed my brother was also having family shared enabled and was using the dbd from my library before he decided that he liked to purchase it. although after he bought the game (about a year ago) he had access to only the default characters and slowly built up his dlc packs until he gave up playing. everything was fine back then.
