Do the devs actually play their own game?
I'm wondering if they do in fact play their own game, as they can't honestly think that the current state of the game is in any way healthy.
The balancing in this game is all over the place and gets worse with each new killer/survivor or update. Boons for example. Why did survivors need these in the first place? How is it ok that they can bless a hex and that is is gone but if the killer snuffs out a boon they can just bless it again. Perks and killers constantly being buffed/nerfed, ruining perfectly fine killers in the process. Clearly some perks are too strong (NOED) but they never get nerfed, yet the wraith gets a nerf for seemingly no reason.
Who is their "balancing" aimed at? The core players who play the game all the time or the Twitch TV crowd.
How about the rampant tunneling and camping from killers which IMHO opinion has increased massivly since the new matchmaking was introduced. The devs can't honestly think that being tunneled out of the game within the first few minutes is a fun experience for survivors. I mean tunneling has always been a thing but the last few months it has increased massively. If I was to start this game today as a new player and was being tunneled out of the game every game, how long do you think I would stick with this game?
I know there is no realistic way to combat camping but surely the devs can come up with some solution to discourage tunneling survivors out of the game.
This is of course only my opinion (with maybe a little salt) but I've played this game for 3 years and used to love it, but the way killers play now makes being a survivor unfun and the way survivors play makes being a killer unfun.

No they don't.

They play the game... At a lower mmr. Which is fine, but, like, they should perhaps gather a bit of perspective from players who are higher mmr before deciding some of this weird nonsense like Deathslinger nerfs. I am not even talking top mmr. Just... Not wherever it is they play where Pig is a dominant force that warrants nerfing every patch.

Not in any way that particularly matters.

They balance game around kills. And since 2 kills can be achieved by 2 hooks, everything seems fine to them. Also gens are too fast so u need to kill someone in first 2-3 gens if u want to get more than 2k.
That's why everyone is tunneling and camps at some point. Going for 12 hook play most of the time is suicide.

They do, but they are not very good at it. If their pride didn't get in the way, they could bring in skilled players from the community to help them determine what the real problems are and what the best way is to fix them, and then test them. Other game developers have done this. Instead, they keep relying on flawed data, to tell them how to balance the game.
btw, NOED is not too strong, just annoying when you have to face it. And while tunneling is frustrating, it is part of the game. The devs consider it a legitimate tactic. Besides, there are ways to counter both.
Of course, the devs are directly responsible for the increase in camping and tunneling. They have made terrible decisions that keep making things worse.

The intentions usually clash with player reality.
3 -
Of course they do.
And they're probably really enjoying the game now that they have no scratch marks, no aura and can self-care at full speed.
17 -
They do, but at really low levels and probably with only certain characters. I'm not sure if DBD mobile is different when it comes to balancing or how buggy it is, but they do give out a ton of BP events to help with the grind.

Yeah and they're garbage at it. Just watch them play killer.
13 -
If they do play killer, they definitely don't play Billy, Twins, Deathslinger since they made them super clunky and sucked the fun out of them.
1 -
why they not do User Testing before launch the new patch (prior PTB) to several player The Fogs (twitch) to have suggestion and input ?

they play survivors only. They didn't play Pinhead I sure 100%
7 -
Tbh i don't care if I'm getting tunneled, i enjoy getting chased as that is the most fun part of the game.
I highly doubt you get tunneled every game unless you purposely try to annoy the killer every game.
How is NOED to strong?
It's a perk that only can activate at the end of the match, that is if your luck.
There is such an easy way to counter that, and that's just do bones or just get out.
Don't come with me that it is hard for a SoloQ player, because that is absolute bs as i only play solo and it barely activates.
If you think cleansing a dull totem is pointless because the killer might not even have it and you rather sit on gens, than imo you have no right to complain about it.
I play this game since day 1 it came on ps4 and the only i have started to find unfun to play is killer side at the higher level.
Put in shadow step in the game with good survivors and it's basically game over for the killer.

lol they focus on work which ruining their work itself by not playing the game

Remember that time Mathieu Cote got baited into playing one match in his life and it resulted in sweeping changes to flashlights and significant buffs to Hag after he got called a noob killer by instablinding Koreans? That alone revealed just how little they play their own game.
27 -
In terms of playing the game, no. If you mean Alive before Sunrise, the game about 4 lethal survivors hunting down a defenceless killer, they play that.
7 -
Look out, last time I mentioned the skill of one I got a warning.
11 -
Yup i definitely remember 🤣🤣🤣🤣
8 -
I would think that they do play their own game.

Not in any interesting way. I know of the guys responsible for the balance team likes to facecamp people with NOED so you can guess how these guys are in touch with the average/high level.
2 -
They do, but at a very low level.
3 -
unlike VHS devs who are actually good at their own game, no BHVR doesn't play their game, almo can't even follow blood trails/scratch marks and he does the balance 🙄
2 -
For most games, those in development don't play the game, they just do the coding and wait for feedback. But for BEhaviour, those that actually play the game don't do so at a high level. And even though most of the player base aren't high level, the problems from high level play with trickle down into low level as they try to copy the meta, and that's where DBD's biggest problem comes from. They balance around low level play and so high level play remains the same.
So when the devs do play the game, they see change but the main issues still remain.
Like with the boon totems, they did get a slight nerf, but they still give too much and this effects both high and low level play. But they want to focus more on the low level, casual side of DBD so they probably won't nerf them in any meaningful way.
1 -
Imagine you validate the R.P.D/The Game/Larry's maps and the boon totems for DbD... while at least 1/3 of the killers cannot use their power properly on those maps and that CoH removes half the features the killers can use to apply pressure (injuring and switch target or slugging).
Now that you see it's not an imaginary picture, you know they don't play at a skill high enough to take good decisions.
2 -
Mr Matthew played once and I think he didn't played anymore since that Hag match xD.
12 -
Nope, they do not.
8 -
Didn't the Devs at one point say that Tunneling and Camping are Valid Strategies?
1 -
They pander the game to the highest amount of players (survivors) which nets them the most money from cosmetics. Let's say out of 1000 players 100 will buy skins. So if you have more survivors than killers, you make more money, because 5000 survs = 500 skin buyers, 1000 killers = 100 buyers. Make survivors the stronger group and more players play them. They are throwing the largest net they can to catch as many fish as possible

Who cares. Game On. Go play. Stop being jerks in post game chat. I am on Nintendo so I cant do that. Sounds like it is a bad thing. Worse than the teabag or the camp.

The devs do play the game, but they do that only for testing.
The problem is... they dont "test" how they should do.
The "spoiled brats" have more word than who actually knows tf's best for the game.
0 -
Probably not? Not a whole lot of Devs actually play their own games
0 -
When the developers can't play their own game at high level, you should always question their balancing chocies and decisions.
5 -
Good Devs absolutely do. Most MMOs, most fighting games, and most Mobas have dev teams that play their games at all levels. If the company can't understand how the game works at every level, how can you possibly expect them to balance for it or understand player issue.

Better nerf dead hard and buff no mither

Devs Who cares about their own products do, there is a lot of games with devs playing every day, even streaming.
The problem with Behaviour is that they don't care about how is the Game in terms of fun and balance, they only see how much money players invest on skins.
They do not play their Game, and when I Saw a dev playing in the past, before MMR, that dev couldnt surpass Green ranks so... What kind of aknowledge of DBD do they have xD.
They see baby survivors with Zero skill crying on the forums about how strong Killers are, they check the % of money that survivors pay instead of the amount of killers and they make the fixes we are suffering these days like Pallet Vallidation or DeadHard Buff.
2 -
-
Dead Hard wasn't buffed all they did was put it on server side when determining hit validation......like with pallets....and like with the hit validation bug on pallets Dead Hard has the same bug that they wont remove because the Devs think that's how it should work.
A killer hears a scream and sees blood they will naturally stop and look for a body to pick up giving that survivor time to run and hide...so with Shadowstep in play it means the killer loses the trail altogether.

To my knowledge they do play but their not good, which most game devs aren't good at their own games so that's fine and all but they need to listen to the good players for balancing. I really hope they aren't just not listening to good players because of pride.

Surprised this hasn’t been closed
my “discussion” was closed immediately

The ones they do left it so just imagine.
0 -
Yeah they said but they punish it with chaser emblrm punish and I think i heard they gonna do something about those who facecamp
0 -
They definitely don't play survivor.
0 -
Oh can you please knock it off you killer main?🤦🏻♂️
0 -
I'd argue that's the only thing they play lol
2 -
If they do that to me, they're gonna prove that I'm right, and also further cement that they're completely disconnected from the killer community.
4 -
They play for a while, but not like us. If you're a gamer, you've already figured out the issue after the MMR patch and have either improved it or reverted it.
However, if it is determined that there is no notice or action
It is understood that they are ignoring the problems raised by numerous communities and official websites because they cannot feel them.
0 -
nope they dont, just i saw one play time ago but he s very bad , hope they have the balls to play be killer in high mmr and show us how we can get fun , but they are very busy making new skins like always
0 -
The problem is they only see statistics and barely play the game.
In their statistics The Pig is good for example, so she will stay as one of the worst killers forever (I mained her in the past and I switched for plague because I fed up).
The problem is a lot of casual players (200 hours or less) "manipulate" the statistics and that statistics don't reflect well how powerfull a killer is.
You only have to hear Almo, he use the word "statistics" a lot.

For the most part, this doesn’t happen. A dev’s job is to make sure the game functions (BHVR also fails this part.) The problem isn’t that BHVR plays at a low level, it’s that they don’t lean on good players they can watch or bring in. Most devs look at skilled players to balance the game. BHVR either doesn’t care or is too arrogant to admit that they don’t know the game.

Fixing a bug that increases the usefulness of something is still a buff. It can be both.
