Do the devs actually play their own game?

I think they only play it during chapter development processes so.. not live games. Except McLean but he left BVHR so that leaves no one really.
Mcote used to stream the game but that was years ago, I don't think he does anymore. He also played on public severs in I think Korea once as Hag. As you can imagine, no hooks, all teabags and flashie blindings.
But no, I think they only play when they develop chapters and it's not live servers.

They do play the game that they created. They do not play it well enough to ACTUALLY BALANCE it though, no.

Actually they do play their game. The only time they play the game is if they need to look for any bugs through out the game or if they are thinking of creating a new chapter. There is even a popular twitch streamer McLean https://www.twitch.tv/mclean_yep who plays dead by daylight while being a developer for the game. So, in some scenarios Developers do indeed play dead by daylight.

they do, but they spend most of their time working on said game.

RUN DS hope you don't get bots that can't even unhook you once, and hopefully, they can do gens too. It's a lot to ask LOL

No and you can't @ a dev or call any of the clear flaws of the game out because you'll either get banned or ignored take your pick. Dev's have given me the impression they're mostly delusional, money hungry, jerks who only play survivor

Dev companies absolutely have their staff playing the game. FF14 and Smash both have their leads being extremely competent at their game. Playing the video game is absolutely a thing most companies do.
Balancing the video game is still the job of the company and that doesn't happen overnight with zero actual knowledge of the video game or how it works or it's played. Bhvr has fog whisperes, they have forums, they have the PTB, they have a multi-lingual game. They're absolutely aware of what issues commonly get discussed and in what regions.
Whether they agree or have any idea how to address these issues is something else.

I doubt that any of those devs could challenge a professional player. They don’t have enough time to become experts, which is why they should watch people who are top.

One of the best comp teams is made up of DBD devs, so I guess yes.

are you sure about that???

They do play and some of them stream or have streamed in the past.

You're missing the point completely mate.
Also pretty sure one of the FF14 devs played in the 92% percentile, so you're wrong either way.

Btw do more videos of the devs like this exist?
I read something vague on here about some other instances where a dev made a statement and then got steamrolled on video but i never heard anything specific or seen a link.

I still take those as given up statements. They don't know how to handle or change it so they simply say that it is acceptable. Same with balancing between solo and max potential swf with coms.

Maybe this time they first want the mods to create a "naughty list" to see who is all taking bad about them and not only the op 😜

I have no idea tbh.
I'm sure there will be some if you search on YouTube tho.
I've came across 1 of Almo with multiple clips of him messing up, i believe when he played survivor i think.

To be fair, if i was working on a game all day i wouldn't want to be playing that game in my free time.
Kinda like how if you work in a cookie factory you're not going to be eating a lot of cookies outside of hours.

They maybe play their game but mostly casual. This is fine by the way as they are developers and I can imagin that they want to do other stuff with their live too. Most of them probably have friends, family and other hobbies. Developing the game is probably eating up most of their time on the job, leaving little to no time for playing it.
Now then, the big question is if the people who suggest and direct the balance changes play their game or watch experienced players at this game. You do not even have to play at that level yourself to see how certain games function and how certain Killers are too strong or too weak, when you can just watch a streamer with a few thousand hours into the game.

Almo doesn't even play DbD anymore, all he does is play Rocket League on twitch with a handful of friends while limiting his chat to verified users only.

Has anyone from behavior streamed a match as killer against a swf since then

That game is extremely old. You gave an example that is an outlier. I know some people who work in the industry, and it is not standard to have top level players as a permanent part of the team.

They have the Fog whisperers, but they are mainly to promote the game, but all of them mostly say what the majority says, and the devs unfortunately don't get it done the way the community wants it. I know that listing always to the community can break a game, but not listening at all will make the game die out one day

they said wraith was OP, O freacking P, and thats why he deserved some nerfs, so no, i don't think they even know what they are doing at this point.

Yeah, last time i checked his channel i noticed that. Don't know why exactly but it doesn't surprise me since none of the devs care about chatting with the community in the forums anyway.
