Which Killer's were the greatest success?
Michael Myers? Huntress? Oni? Blight?
Which Killer's do you think were the greatest success in terms of release?

Probably Michael Myers since it was DBD's first license which made the game much, much more popular.

Oni and Pyramid Head.
I would've added Blight, but his POV on release was bad.
3 -
Spirit

Probably Blight or Oni

In terms of gameplay, Oni and Blight were a huge success. Both are fun to play as and against while being very good but also counterable.
In terms of adaptation, it's Myers. He might not be that strong, but damn is he scary and accurate to the movies

I'm probably going to get flames for this one, but in terms of scariness, it was the Trickster's release that was the best in my opinion. I mean think about it:
- Ji-Woon let a bunch of innocent people burn while they were screaming his name and he enjoyed it, he enjoyed the attention.
- He would sneak into people's houses and kidnap them, torture them to make them scream and used those screams to make music (and if you listen closely, his chase music sounds like distorted screams).
- He's one of the most human killers in the game which makes it scarier.
- He laughs and giggles when chasing and lacerating the survivors, at one point he even hums the ring around the rosey nursey rhyme randomly during the trials.
- A cool little detail is when someone DC's, he laughs.
While I'm definding 'success' differently compared to the other answers, the detail to Trickster was amazing at making me feel scared while playing Dead by Daylight again.

Huntress was by far in my opinion DBD’s greatest success. Their 2 other ranged killers they’ve made have been much worse despite being newer

Pyramid Head

Oni

It depends on what you define a "success" as.
If you mean in terms of helping the game grow, then nobody can deny that Myers launched the game upwards in popularity due to being the first licensed killer. He's terrible in terms of gameplay effectiveness but he has a spot in DBD's history.
If you mean in terms of the killer being well-liked on release for gameplay reasons, probably Huntress. To this day she's a killer with a high skill ceiling and a power that is unique in that she can cause harm up to an extreme range, but has tons of counterplay options from the survivors.
If you mean in terms of the killer being just plain strong, then Nurse. She released in a time where she was the only killer capable of playing against infinites. Even after her various nerfs over the years, even after all the bugs that have plagued her for just as long, she's still S-tier due to the nature of her power.

That kinda depends on what you mean exactly. Popularity? Probably meyers. Not needing a ton of tweaks and fixes? Id have to say Huntress for sure. She's been one of the most consistent and unchanged killers since release

Myers and Oni

Nurse. It made survivors scared af.

There are 3 killers who I think deserve the spotlight:
3- Huntress.
Literally the only acceptable ranged killer in the game, and I am starting to think she should be the only one. The other 2 ranged killers are just...no.
2- Myers.
Not only does he have a very good designed power, but he also helped DBD a lot with his introduction, back in 2016. He is also a killer that massively contributes to the horror aesthetic, even for people who have been playing the game for some time.
1- Freddy on-release.
Keep in mind, when I say "on-release", I am not talking about the regular "Old Freddy" that most people remember. They are a bit different.
Freddy on-release was, in my opinion, the only killer in DBD that has ever had a perfect, flawless power: fun, unique, strong and viable without being overpowered, and greatly contributed to the horror aesthetic, arguably even more than Myers did.
That Freddy was simply...perfect.

the strangers things chapter was phenomenal!! shame the license is about to be gone.

The amount of detail that went into Trickster and giving him personality is probably some of the best DbD has seen. He feels more like a person with his own mind than the Survivors do.

Myers is a tier in himself with how amazing he is honestly. Still very much loved and played a lot, despite a major agreement that he's not very strong purely due to how fun he is. You play Myers, and you feel like you're Myers, and it's all just very satisfying and fun.
Oni also had a really solid release though as an honorable mention, along with Pyarmid Head and Demo.

Spirit and Blight, original characters that are Hella viable

Definitely Mikey. He's been my main for four years. The Halloween chapter really put this game on the map.

Blight imo

You’re definitely entitled to your opinion and it’s great you enjoy his lore. He was still an underwhelming killer on release and still is, for the most part. I don’t agree that he was a successful release, and from what I’ve seen that’s the general consensus.
I think Oni has been the most successful killer since he hasn’t really gone through major changes gameplay-wise, aside from some addon balancing. He’s also a solid killer, although his early game can be trash.

The funny thing about Blight is there were a lot of people who thought he would be terrible because they thought the bouncing was goofy or awkward. (Not me, I said from day 1 that he had the best map mobility in the game and that alone would make him an excellent killer.) Now of course he’s generally regarded as being one of the top killers. So in terms of exceeding a lot of people’s expectations I think Blight is very successful. 🙂

If you mean money wise who knows honestly.
But the best killers they have done since the huntress, probably either Oni or Blight.
Ofc I am no counting licensed killers because even then bubba was trash for so long, myers is still the same, PH well silent hill fans are loyal and will follow PH, pig was extremely annoying, freddy was really bad but extremely unique probably the most unique killer we have had, pinhead brought drama, nemesis......ok?.
So yes, my answer is Oni or Blight.

Oni and Blight.
Oni being the better one because his chapter came out with lots of other good stuff like the BL nerf.

Probably Oni. If memory serves the only issue he had was the locker destroying your power which was fixed pretty quick. He was fairly well loved back then and to this day.
Blight's concept was also loved a lot but I remember a lot of people complaining about hitbox issues with him. People still do but he certainly is loved and a big success no doubt.
I think Demo was fairly liked as well if I recall. A lot of people hate(d) the map though.
