Have the devs ever reverted a change?
So people have constantly told the devs to revert certain changes. However I don’t think this has ever happened. Has this ever happened? Wanna know if it’s pointless to ask for reverts. Although we can get add-ons base at least.

Main thing that comes to mind is no timing for pallet stuns and flashlight blinds changes. That went back into the trash bin really fast.

I am pretty sure they have, but very few times. Usually they make bad changes and just leave them in the game for years.
14 -
Huntresses hatchet hit boxes were changed to make them smaller a short while after her release
The changes were reverted when huntress mains yelled at them very loudly
9 -
Also love how they lied saying it was unintentional, when it was under changes and even with a note saying it would be healthier for the game. LOL

They reverted the aura changes. It seems like BHVR only really consider reverting a change if the entire community is up in arms about it - that's why Hillbilly and Deathslinger are unlikely to have their nerfs looked at, because only people that played these killers are complaining.
8 -
I remember that, saw several streamers throw hatchets that went straight through survivors
0 -
nope. they made new auras look similar to old ones but never reverted them
2 -
on one PTB you became bloodied as you were continuously injured throughout the match, but people complained it ruined the point of Prestige-ing your characters so they removed it.
6 -
I have honestly not seen anyone who complained about it. They just scrapped it without any notice.
(Also, it was never really implemented, it was just present on one PTB and also announced as something being tested, without ever coming back afterwards)

the old HUD.

Huntress hitbox "adjustement" and Patch 1.9.2.
0 -
It took them several times even to do that.
1 -
What’s hilarious is that hatchets STILL go through people and have the consistency of expired peanut butter
3 -
I remember a while ago that Spirit was supposed to kick up dust when she phase walked, but the Devs scrapped that in the PTB for whatever reason. They do it a lot of times, and I'm sure that there are even more ideas that get thrown out before announced.

Its unfortunately the same with older console optimisation; the game runs worse and worse for us each update and as more and more people upgrade to next gen or play on PC then less people talk about how bad things are for us.
Nothing really changes meanwhile everyones only talking about the newest content or buff\nerf; I swear we're just being strung along until enough have upgraded and they can cease service for the old consoles, without fixing any of the issues we've had for years :(

i'm so bad at flashlight/flashbang saves timing, I wish they brought that back ;_; that was a fun update, think it was 3 or 4 years ago?

The one change I remember was the aura change the devs claimed they changed the auras so the game would be less buggy and cause less issues cause the old auras caused more bugs but everyone hated them so much that it was reverted a week later

Weren't there "new animations" that disappeared pretty quickly?

this is the most accurate post in this forums history

and the "fixed" Huntress hitboxes where they made the hitbox actually match the hatchet - meaning everyone just shot straight through the Survivors playmodels without damaging them.
also, i might be wrong here, but werent both of these changes tested on live servers as well instead of getting a PTB?

Yea some changes get reverted but sometimes they are just making room from a smaller change to a larger change they probably wanted to make at the time but it was easier to make the small change to tide people over for a bit
my only example of this was with billy overheat, which was set to -3.5 cp/s on the ptb, then to -5.0 cp/s on live 4.1.0, but was reverted back to -3.5 cp/s in 4.1.2 because of the additional changes made in 4.1.0 that paused heat gain while not actively revving or letting the chainsaw rev down and decreased heat gain from revving, and it was decided that billy had enough to balance out the -3.5 cp/s instead of the -5.0cp/s
And if we count another technicality
brutal strength was buffed from 10/20/30 to 20/30/40 and then nerfed back to to 10/15/20 when there was a global decrease to pallet kick time
0 -
They actually didn't, all they "reverted" was just amping up the brightness until they changed them to where they are now
0 -
I remember Oni was heavily nerfed shortly after his release. He was the worst killer in the game for a short time because they removed his flick.

If the devs spent time and money on something even no one asked for, they're not gonna revert it. Just because of that.

Balanced Landing rip

The speed boost duration of the Wraith when he uncloaks.
When they buffed him it changed from 1 second to 1.25 seconds and in the 5.3.0 they reverted back to 1 second.
1 -
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat. That sounds like the coolest thing ever. #########? How could they abandon that?
2 -
Whenever they have reverted changes, it's usually because of emotional complaints and not really any legitimate challenge of "This breaks the game! Change it back!"
I wasn't around for instant survivor drops from flashlight saves and pallets saves, as opposed to timing them right, but that sounds like how the game should be. "But it takes the timing, and therefore the skill, out of it." You're talking about skill in an area where there doesn't really need to be skill, just execution. Same thing with DS having a skill check. So if I'm not 'skilled' enough, I deserve to get tunneled? And this one skill check alone determines that? I mean, c'mon. And this is all coming from someone who prefers playing killer, mind you.
The 'new' animations for survivors they had a while back were completely fine to me. "They look weird. They look stupid." You'll get used to them. If they look THAT BAD to you, you're either blinded by nostalgia or can't handle change (this stance does not apply to anything else I say, just the animations). The new animations were way more accurate for showing where exactly the survivor was, instead of their hard-to-track, leaned-over stature with a disorienting turn rate. So survivors also complained that it was harder to perform a 360, and the wiggle, and other movement techs (which work mostly because of the awful killer fov) to make killers miss. And we can't have survivors having an unfair advantage taken away, so the old crappy animations got put back in and they're here to this day.
But everything they've been asked to revert over and over again, because it could literally only help players and make them happier for legitimate reasons, they never bother to revert.
MoM could be reverted. Now that instaheals are gone, it's not a problematic perk.
Nurse getting charges on her blinks, not necessary when her bugs hadn't been addressed and that stopped her from becoming consistently strong. Punished her for using her power. Never got reverted.
Hillbilly changes, universally hated, never got reverted. Overheat mechanic punishes killer for using his power.
Pop getting nerfed to 45 seconds whilst un-nerfed DS still was still 60, and still is. Probably never getting reverted.
Gearhead and new Hangman's Trick getting nerfed from their ptb iterations, non-issue perks that had a small chance to create more variation in killer info perks, never reverted.
Spirit and Deathslinger changes, which only slightly aid low level players and give way more counterplay to high level players which they don't need, getting a lot of hate, probably never gonna be reverted. These killers will be unviable, not able to win at high level.
Surprisingly they haven't reverted MMR, which I'm thankful for. But if they're not gonna balance the game around this new MMR system, they might as well revert it. If they actually reverted stupid changes more often, and used logic in doing so, the game would be in a much better spot.

I use it all the time. People make a mountain out of a mole hill when it comes to that perk's nerf. It's fine now, not broken like before.
0 -
Yeah but it was reverted
It was originally how it is now then got buffed then changed back but with the silent landing added
0 -
The red screen affect on stuns when ghostface released I don't even think that made it out of ptb if I can recall there was headache complaints
0 -
Yeah that's confusing and all, but it's still a solid perk, and it doesn't need to be stronger. You should not be getting the benefit of a landing stun reduction while you're still exhausted, contrary to popular opinion. It creates too many loop limitations for future design. We'd either end up with mediocre loops to compensate for the potential OPness of Balanced, or the loops would be straight-up broken like the Haddonfield buildings.

I just wanna stop breaking my legs from every drop

If it's something that gives Survivor an advantage, I think I'll go back to what I was doing.
PS turn step, wraith acceleration, bloodlust, Pallets generated, etc etc etc...
0 -
That's video game physics 101. You're either gonna take fall damage or suffer a stun. Only with a ready-to-use Balanced Landing should you be able to avoid that.
