Are killers having fun anymore?

I have seen so many killer mains jumping to surviving in hordes ever since the last update. A lot of them saying killer just isn't any fun anymore especially at higher MMR.

I'm still having a whale of a time. Killer is still much more fun than Survivor for me- it might be slightly easier for skilled players, but I've never been any good at it nor have I ever enjoyed it.

    Killer's much more fun, imo.

Killer queues are slower than survivor queues.

    Exactly this

A while ago, after all the crappy patches, stupid nerfs, and just down right idiotic decisions from BHVR, I just stopped caring all together

Stop caring so much about what they do and just play

Stop caring so much about what other people say and just play

Stop caring about if the dumb little emblem number goes up or down and just play

It really is more fun this way

That wasn't the point of my question? It's just a general question to see if they were having fun.

Unless I'm going for a challenge that requires killing survivors I make it a point to only hook each person once or twice then let everyone finish gens. Once gens are done I personally open an exit and we all have a party at the gate.

Honestly I have a lot more fun playing killer that way.

I've been intentionally tanking my MMR in order to have more chill matches. No more hatch, only gate exits. Fire up/trail dumb builds on legion. Sucks to have to game the system in order to get out of meta sweat hell, but that's where we're at, I guess.

I still enjoy killer. Admittedily it can be very stressful, and matches where you actually had no chance to win, which in my opinion are more uncommon than some would argue, suck a lot, but in general playing killer is still fun. Honestly if there's one thing that makes me take breaks from DBD, it's the fact that it's not the most varied game.

    And maybe the bugs.

Even if you give a ######### there is nothing fun in a SWF squad that try to make your game miserable. In those games your skill or predisposition doesn't matter and i bet most killer would prefer to DC.

This game is full of people that are in need to feel themselves better than you, and even if you play chill, most survivors will teabag and throw salt in chat, so its not that easy.

But hey i think this game in part is a reflection of the world we are living so its nothing new.. you can see how many people have "issues" that feel the need to be toxic in both sides.

It really is! I love taking my two hook tax and then just messing with survivors until they figure out that I'm friendly. Personal favorites include playing Wraith and following a survivor around binging the bong, Clown and throwing speed bottles, Hag and spamming a ton of traps in a small area and then chasing survivor into it, and Plague and just Vile Purging on someone for three minutes until they figure out I'm not actually doing anything damaging. I also enjoy taking a moment to acknowledge silly situations, like finding a survivor in a stupid hiding spot or somebody dropping from a ledge on top of me or someone getting downed by a zombie. Feels more like a party game than a me-versus-them when it happens.

I've had to start killing survivors again, though, because the new matchmaking thought I was a potato and started placing me solely against newbies. It's getting better again, but it means I can only play like this every other game or every three games, and for the rest I just take it easy and give the last guy hatch unless they really didn't deserve it. With the old matchmaking, I could play like this every game and still end up playing at my skill level. It's a pity.

To the OP, I'm still having fun, but I'm not in the higher echelons of matchmaking hell, so that's probably why.

Yes, I wouldn't be inclined to play something I don't find fun unless someone either has a gun to my head or is paying me.

I'm still having fun - I've started playing any of the other 300+ games in my steam library.

    BHVR server lagging?

Can't break a totem that allows a survivor to heal mid-chase?

Hits not registering near Dead Hard or pallets due to spaghetti code?

General stupidity from over-tuned perks making the game not enjoyable?

esc > Leave Match > congratulate the survivors on their win > alt+F4 > enter

Not much these days. Its not even about winning. Its about fast matches. At high MMR they are all split on gens and you lose at least two, sometimes three gens before you get your first hook. Unless you're playing Nurse or Blight.

    SunsetSherbet Member Posts: 1,607

Not unless you go in without intent to win and just make your own fun while accepting the survivors are going to escape either way unless you go in tunneling and camping 90% of matches.

I still enjoy playing Killer... but not all the time

For one I don't play the "meta" on either side... other then Corrupt and BT but that's about it

  • SunsetSherbet
    SunsetSherbet Member Posts: 1,607

Queue times are caused by killers gaining MMR easily and survivors not gaining MMR easily causing high MMR to not have many survivors because the ease of getting to high MMR isn't equal for both sides. Just as how it was always WAY easier to get Iri 1 Killer than it was survivor. The video on how MMR works showed this months back.

    No.

ever since they introduced MMR i have very rarely been able to enjoy my time in this game as Killer.

and i for sure aint gonna stick around for the Survivor gameplay exclusively - thats not what makes this game unique or charming to me in the slightest, so i quit the game for good until something changes about how incredibly stressfull and sometimes just outright unfair it feels to play Killer.

This is 100% Accurate - and Nurse is literally the only Killer I still somewhat enjoy playing now..

Too bad I'm terrible with her lol.

But honestly, Gens are popping WAY too fast, idk if it's just the MMR that I'm at or what, but even with Corrupt Intervention, PGTW, etc.. usually 2 gens are completed by the time I get 1 hook nowadays.. then the rest of the match just flies by. I played w/ Tinkerer earlier and every single minute my Tinkerer would go off while I was in chase constantly, I couldn't protect a single gen even if I tried to turn directly to the gen being worked on by the time I got there it was already completed.

My matches seem to be ending in 5-10min consistently. That's just too crazy, I still usually get 1-2K somehow, but I'm straight up running some of the best slowdown perks in the game and they still somehow manage to complete all 5 gens and open exit gates in 5-10min every round, I really don't get what else I could possibly be doing lol.. and they also constantly Body Block and then go heal under COH for super fast heals.

I tried this. Accidentally killed a few because I didn't know they hit Stage 2 on first hook, or they look like other survivor(s).

It'd be nice if the game told you the survivor was on death hook while you were carrying them. (Unlike showing the killer hook counts for each survivor throughout the match, this wouldn't make killers any more efficent at tunneling). Then the killer can choose between sacrificing or dropping them (or remember they have a mori to use if they missed the prompt before the pick up).

Killer's been much better for me since MMR came into effect. Matches have been challenging, and my skill's certainly changed for the better.

I've not noticed a lack of variety in killers when playing as survivor neither, so that leads to a conclusion that there isn't any major shortage of killers out there.

Personally, it's much better than before.

The last part is a big problem with things and why balancing for low level survivors is incredibly unfair to the other side and makes it unfun. The game is designed in a way so that low skill survivor players basically always have a chance even if they are extremely bad. But the mechanics that cause this exist at the high level, too, so the really really good players also have access to all these second chance and "help the survivor" changes that have been made. It's not fun to learn to play a killer when the game is designed in a way that you are handicapped and the survivor will be given preferential treatment (such as how basically validation favors survivors) even if you are really good at your killer and skilled with them. This makes it feel like getting good at a killer is pointless, since survivors don't even need to learn how to loop or get good to beat high level killers. The game has been balanced in a way to elevate the bad players to a level they aren't at and let them compete against far better players. But what is put in the game to give these bad players such a chance can equally be used by the actual good survivor players. And when they use those tools made largely for the bad players, it makes said good players basically unstoppable.

Not if you realise you won’t get a 4K every game and have fun,I think killers actually earn more BP on the whole but get less pips which should probably be looked at.

No. Not really. With the legion of Nurse bugs in the game. Deathslinger reduced to ashes. Boon totems now in the game. Medkits surging in popularity. Massive map reworks that just blatantly favor survivors. I used to play Killer to relax, now I play survivor to relax from having to try hard in my killer games. Survivor is an absolute joke in difficulty

Having a lot of fun. I don't let the teabagging or flashlight clicking bother me. It's a pixelated character crouching... Rubbing their taint on a dirty ground. I also turned off my messages to only friends a long time ago so no hate messages from emotionally challenged people.

It's gotten dull. It's just gens getting done super quick unless you use slow down, and even then you have survivors running the same overused perks. Both sides are really growing stale, honestly. At least with boon totems I've switched to survivor to have fun using those. Killer, though, just is a sweatfest.

Depends on the hours you try queuing. If I try queuing right now for survivor (10 pm my time) the average wait is about 3 and a half minutes. For killer it's about 10 seconds. This changes after about 2 am and then goes back to long killer queues and short survivor ones until like 6 pm.

I am. Mostly because getting a 4k usually isn't my aim when playing, it's to have fun. Those few matches where I do try to kill everyone has been admittedly harder than I'm used to lately, but then I just go back to having fun and messing around instead of worrying about the results.

  • Hannacia

Depends on the situation. I've accepted that im mostly never going to kill them all, sometimes none. Is killing more annoying now...yes it is especially on the killers i play with. I used to be 50/50 surv/killer but nowdays im more like 70/30 surv /killer.

Honest though i find survivor to be boring nowdays. It feels sometimes too easy with boons and 500 pallets on some maps.

Survivors attitude has a lot to do if i have fun. If you are toxic tea bagger yeah im not going to have fun but if you are nice i dont care if lost i say gg and move along.

I think the killer queue time is horrible due to MMR because it hasnt changed since they implemented it. It takes too long everytime even every part of the day for me.

  • Gamedozer7
    Gamedozer7 Member Posts: 2,657

Not really unless I'm playing nurse(learning) or running decent killer full meta. Gens just fly and pallets fall. Any time I try to mess around and try non meta my matches last like 4 minutes with like 2 hooks.

I think prove thyself needs to be kill switched there's no reason for the survivors to make gens go any faster than they already do and then there's toolboxes which are ever thanks to CoH.
