Pig Players are just…. -sigh-
Not all of you are horrible, but the ones that are the reason she is my #1 most hated Killer. That tunnel the helmet Survivor tactic is sooo infuriating. Maybe I just don’t get the strategy..? I don’t know.
If I understood why they do it, maybe I wouldn’t hate her so much. Anyone care to explain?

The 'strategy' of a tunnel is the same nonsense most killers feed themselves, just with added RBT pressure.
It's a lil unfortunate that a majority of her addons only affect RBTs, because her basekit kinda encourages tunnels, similar to Twins. Even the addons regarding the Jigsaw Boxes still encourage focusing already trapped survivors.
I wish she had more variety in her addon focuses, so that the soft cap of her skill ceiling wouldn't have so many young piggies plateau at the camp and tunnel stage of killer development, but it's just what's there.
As you get higher in MMR/Rank/tiers of play, you'll find more aggressive playstyles of Pig that aren't held back by this plateau, but the crux is: she's difficult to play as, is pushed toward that style, and players without too many options or too little experience will feel they kinda have to tunnel.

When I'm pig I try not to do that all the time because I know how mean it is. To be more specific, on the occasions that I do target those with the traps on, I still make sure I give them the time to go around to at least two or three of the boxes and distract myself with other survivors and gens in the mean time.
I can't speak for those who do tunnel regardless. What I can say is that I don't like them either. They can call it a legitimate competitive strat, which obviously it is, but it also adds to the huge dumpster fire of reasons why people think the game is unfair in a multitude of ways, and in turn, why MMR is a bad idea for a game like this. That's just how I see it though.

I'm not sure I agree about Twins being built for tunneling, but I do agree about addon variety.

Although I am quite a terrible killer i don't play that way myself. Her main slowdown from her power is the headgears keeping survs busy and off the dang gens.
If while patroling or in chase I happen across a trapped surv searching a box or quirming about I'll just slug em or ignore them entirety. Survs off gens is a good thing I think.

Twins is more heavily built for camping, but 'efficient' use of victor is for a hidden tunnel/slug in mid-tier trials. Again, neither Pig nor Twins is at their best when tunneling, or camping, but they suggest it through addon and power design in a way that's comparatively intuitive to new/inexperienced users.

O.k, that's fair.
It'd be nice if the stereotype of the tunnelling/slugging/camping twins was gone, since they really are stronger as a tag team. it'd be nice if some buffs reflected that.

They treat her like every other Killer in the game
They Tunnel cause it works
But that's not how the Pig works... she works best as a true "slowdown" Killer... Put a Trap on a Survivor and leave them to figure out what they should be doing (I've experienced some survivors working on Gens with an active Trap on)
But then again it isn't fool proof... That Survivor could get the Trap off at the first box
Plus some addons make it easier to Tunnel... so there's that
What I do is put a Trap on every Survivor for the first hook... to counter DS and to know whom I've hooked

I don’t use her as I’m a Huntress main, so I’m unaware of her add-ons but I know a little about her kit. I just want a game where I don’t get the ‘tunnel me’ cap and die instantly 😭

Dont blame the Pig, blame your teammates for stealthing. Both in my experience and watching others with her, there are countless times where you're left no choice but to tunnel somebody with an RBT because there's just nobody else to chase and often survivors with an RBT are running around franticly and so are easier to find.

BHVR has made it clear they are apparently ok with certain things having no counterplay in their game. This, camping, other forms of tunneling, Legion getting his Feral Frenzy downs again, you name it.

You disagreed with me wanting to understand why she tunnels? Or that I just don’t like her as a Killer? Because there is nothing to disagree with besides the fact that I don’t enjoy facing her as a Killer.
If all you read is titles and not opening posts before you decide to reply, just say that. You’re new to the forums (from what I can based on your post number), so I’m sure you’re still getting the hang of actually engaging and giving useful resources/information but as a community, I can tell you we don’t care for smart/snarky comments with no substance. It does nothing.

I’m not blaming anyone. I just want to understand why she does this. I can understand being unable to find other teammates, but there were teammates literally taking hits for me while she tunneled me. This scenario you’re explaining doesn’t justify this particular game.

This isn’t far-fetched. I’ve spoke with Pig mains in the past on here & they have always disagreed with this strategy simply stating it was pointless. I do know that she was changed a bit in last patch so maybe there is a need for it now? Idk, thats why I’m asking.

Since the devs absolutely failed at giving her good reason to use her dash attack, everything's riding on her headtraps, and they're good for tunneling because not doing so usually ends up in you getting 0 kills.

She needs two add-on slots to be used for buffing her dash attack for it to be remotely usable, and some of those have stupid downsides like one that increases your dash speed by like 6% but increases the start-up time by 66%. The devs have a really bad habit of giving killers strong add-ons with massive downsides, or add-ons that barely do anything.

Yeah, I have a friend who is new to DBD and plays killer. I had to explain to them that not all iridescent add-ons are good just because they’re iridescent. Hell, some of the brown & green add-ons are better than them.

Her best addons were nerfed and changed... And the only thing we still have is Headpops (Which is sad to say)
But like I said before... Killer players whom play the Pig will treat her the same as any other Killer for better or worse

I consider Pig my main (as you can probably guess by the icon and username) and I still disagree with this strategy. I firmly believe there's not a single add-on dependent killer in the game and so the add-on pass, although it did change up some combos, doesn't actually effect her gameplay.

For me the Exhaustion addon should go and replace with something like do Gen slower.
But honestly Pig tunneling isnt as effective as other Killer. Her kit is abit of manythings, no matter how you focus build on an aspect, its will not as shine as other Killers.

I always say if you're a good killer player you can utilize the helmets on the survivors head. What some Pig players don't realize is it's a good slow down tactic but, chase the person with the helmet can loose you the match sometime cause you can't put the others on the 3 other survivors

Maybe buff the killer so they don't have to tunnel people out to get even a 1k. Bottom tier killers aren't going to play by survivor rules because that's a guaranteed loss and why would you play a match where the outcome has been pre-determined? Maybe make her dash not a completely useless power, or make her stealth not the worst stealth in the game by miles. Maybe make the traps somehow threatening, since the devs clearly don't want survivors dying to them which in turn means there's no real threat from them and you don't need to worry.
People seem to cry a lot about Pig and Myers and their add ons or how people play them, not realizing people play them that way because you can't walk in expecting to play like Blight when you're on a bottom 3 killer.
It's bad enough that if you play Pig, survivors expect you to be an epic memer who boops the snoot and lets them leave.

I haven't played pig in a while but I had habit of pulling people off boxes, moving them to a corner and dropping them. Kind of a jerk move but they're already trapped so if I can keep it on them that's good

Not really. The only changes she got were to her add-ons, and none of them made hard tunneling a Trapped Survivor a good idea.

I play a lot of The Pig. When someone has a trap on their head, I try to focus on the other survivors, since presumably, the trapped survivor is wasting time trying to get that trap off. If I run into someone on a box while chasing someone else -- or if someone simply gets on a box right in front of me thinking I'll ignore them -- I will either chase them off or down them if they're injured. No free searches if I'm there, but that's definitely not what I would consider "tunneling" someone. As has been said already, Pigs who spend the entire match chasing someone with a trap on their head are going to lose and lose quickly.

I do only play pig or demogorgon when i play killer. And pig only has 4 traps, so her power is limited unlike every killer. I dont ''tunnel'' people with traps, but i often watch them more, follow more or always try to watch some box to deny them to remove the traps. I keep pressure to survivor with traps and and i don't always let them remove traps so freely without any stress. I only have 4 traps, so i wanna use them.
Sure you can say, its a slowdown power, but it also can be deadly... And after the traps she has nothing left. Shes already bad.
