How To Play Average Killer Games And Not A lot Of Sweaty Games As killer (IMO)
My way of playing average killer games a lot rather than sweaty games all the time is don't run gen defense at all unless you feel like it but if you don't run gen defense your mmr will stay pretty average and you won't be up in the high mmr a lot. You'll get sweaty games from time to time but loose a couple and you'll be alright. That's my opinion anyway from me playing.

But if I didn't run 4 slowdowns every game I might not be able to complain that I'm in high MMR and have to run 4 slowdowns every game 🤔

I do it by going for 8 hooks, 0 kills, and forcibly farming for BP. I get to be super chill and still get ~60k BP, survivors get to have plenty of BP and do tome challenges. If BHVR wanted players to engage with the sweatfest, then why did they make throwing the game so much more rewarding?

Yes, it works.
I play without gen defesense aside from some of the less popular choices like Surge, Dying Light or Scourge Hooks: Gift of Pain. Most times I just use perks that are immersed or compliment the playstyle of the Killer I use and 7/10 times I go for BBQ.
Doing tome challenges while also looking for hooks and good gameplay (curves on Billy, stalks on Ghostface, chain 180s on Cenobite). I am having fun, I believe my MMR is somewhere in the dumpster but who cares? I do not play for MMR that I can not even see. I play for fun and cosmetics.

Go insidious and camp the exit gate with NOED /Bubba. Gen rushing means you don't have to wait long, and it's hecka fun to shock them.

Yeah, I recorded 200 games and analyzed the data, more than 90% of the time the killer is the high scorer. The killer has all the power in a game and determines what the scores will be. In Sweaty games usually the killer gets 10k-20k more than the highest scoring survivor. I like your play style idea because it creates the opportunity for fun instead of sweat. Also it is good time management, doing gens and going for saves, playing the game like the developers say it is supposed to be played, guarantees a lower score for survivors. If you just concentrate on unhooking and looping the killer you will get more points in a shorter period of time. There are major flaws with the game balance, but the developers don't bother with that stuff, they will do the bandaid approach and release a perk or a buff, but never fix the basic balance of the game mechanics.

Welcome to the club.
Only downside is with the new MMR system we end up with survivor so potato that even bpfarming gets tedious once they become so afraid that they can't manage to do the last 2 gens. Even without much pressure.

Many games I do this now then lose some. I call it playing with my food.
I have started playing Wraith more, hooking my first survivor and then leaving and going over the other side of the map and letting them unhook. If they seem lie they are not great then the game plays like this and I get high BP. If they look better then I play different or just do the same and let them escape. My MMR goes up and down, but I enjoy the game better and don't get teams with 4 flashlights that, as somebody else said, are like a seal team.

What is a 'sweaty' game? Why even play if you aren't going to try? I don't get you people.

The Peter Principle is the fact people will rise to one level above their level of competence. That is you will be promoted until you reach a position where you can not satisfactorily perform the task. I can bench 200 pounds so I add 10 pounds of weight. I can't bench 210 pounds, my competency was 200 pounds. MMR promotes you until you can't perform well enough to advance and leaves you there, you have surpassed your ability to perform. That means every game is past your level of competency, but you will still be asked to perform which means you will be exerting maximum effort every time you play because you are past your ability to play competently.
With DBD this has as much to do with skill as with the limits of the internet, lag is still the number one dbd killer. Sweaty games are no fun because you are always exerting maximum effort with minimum rewards. Occasionally matchmaking will just throw you in game to fill a spot, ignoring MMR. I played against 3 red rank 1 killers in a row, next game I had three players including killer who had just started that day.
I think most players play to have fun, but there is a breed of killers who love OP builds, camping, slugging, and tunneling, they don't want everyone to have fun, they just want a 4k and do not care about other players' experiences. These folks create sweaty games.
To your point of "not trying," It isn't we aren't trying, but we are trying to have fun. We are trying to manage our play time for the most points while still being mindful there are other real people you are playing with. In chats the most common remark of sweaty killers is "I don't care," that is they play selfishly and do not care if anyone else has fun, they only care about the 4k. Winning for them is not about playing fair or how others feel. DBD amplifies toxicity in players.

OP didn't say they don't try. Running the meta isn't the same as putting in effort.

"What is a 'sweaty' game?"
I consider a game sweaty if i need to give it my all, strategically and mentally. By mentally i mean just high level play where you are always thinking about your choices, for example "if i do x i could give up y but then z will happen", since i play video game to relax, the only thing i want is a permanent need to strategise to even hope to get satisfactory results.
"Why even play if you aren't going to try?"
In my case, it's because i value having fun above going all out every time and "winning". And i know for a fact that, if i always do my best and try to win regardless of how i feel, i will burn out in no time because that's not how i want to play every time. So to avoid that i always have some killer where i only do dumb stuff to still take time and enjoy the game. I do enjoy a "sweaty" match from time to time, but i don't want it to always be that way.
"I don't get you people."
From my point of view, i could ask you the same thing, why would you try every game even if it means not enjoying your time playing it? Just because you like playing a certain way doesn't mean everybody does too. But we still need to respect each others opinion. We purposefully let you get a win, it's not like we just facecamp you to get 1 kill every time.

You see from the responses that the number one problem with always sweaty is it is not fun. I can't get friends to play dbd because of the steep learning curve and the toxicity. DBD is not a fun game, it could be with some tweaks, but the DEVs seem to assume everyone has high speed internet, no lag, and we all play SWF, or we want to play 10 hours a day and be a pro streamer. There needs to be a concentrated effort to make the game fun for everyone, not a select few. I can pick up most games quickly and have fun, the learning curve at DBD is too high to expect players to play it long enough to have fun. I am only sticking around to prestige my remaining survivors. If the mechanics are not fixed in that time, I'm done.

So you want fun in a competitive game without effort, which for you means winning but not actually being challenged.
Lol.

I don't run Gen defense and that ain't stopped them from being sweaty

I agree to an extent. I don't get not trying to win but I also keep in mind that learning and having fun is also important. Oh, and I don't give a damn if the survivors hate how I play or not.

You'll still get them just not as much as you would if you ran it all the time

When did i mention i want to "win" without being challenged? I even said at the end of my post that I "purposefully let you get a win" which mean i let survivor escape and give up my "win", don't twist other word to suit your point...
I didn't know that, not wanting a sweaty match meant i want to win easily. By reading your answer i feel like for you, winning = having fun. You need to stop thinking that everyone is like you and share your opinion.
I don't care as long as i feel that i was confortable while playing, for example if i made good read on the killer or good prediction as killer, i don't care if i escape or get 0k. Which of course i can't do in high MMR since most match are all pallet are predropped and last less than 5 min if you get an unlucky survivor spawn.
And yes, let's think of dbd as competitive, an asymmetric game where your chance of winning are mostly ruled by the RNG of the map.

Meme builds as Billy is my dbd life now.
Take the escapes and play chill.
