Why are killer mains crying when they are still favoured by the kill rate?

Options

Literally had a game against Blight where the first survivor was 3-hooked (technically 4-hooked because of ds) withing the first 2 minutes of the game. Corrupt was still up. Also had several similar games against nurses and spirits during the last couple of days.

But yea, nerf survivors. Gen speed too fast. Circle of healing op...

All killer mains complaining about that while such things exist should play a Solo Q 3 vs 1 at 5 gens all day.

Try to not be a potato against a skilled S tier killer who chases you down within 10 seconds like nurse, spirit or dpi blights.

And the kill rate was 68% at that time.

    Which is pretty unbiased.

I dont feel like it changed much.

Just FYI they did show a chart below for July through September.

Since then we switched over to skill based matchmaking and boon totems were introduced which increases the probability that survivors are looking for totems, reducing the value of Devour Hope and Ruin.

Pretty sure thats going to have an effect on the overall kill rates, when new numbers are released.

    Kills mean nothing.

Maybe, but were hatch escapes included in the data? If so, I think the hatch change will have a much more significant impact on kill rates.

I play both sides now. I am a killer main for a long time and consider myself a decent killer and a very bad survivor. Playing survivor and escaping is much easier than playing the killer in my experience. Let me rephrase that. Playing survivor when there are CoH totems I get out almost every time. If there isn't a boon totem then I would say the playing field is level. CoH has introduced a big balance issue. It takes away all of the killers pressure and snowballing potential. Survivors are going to have to get used to being tunneled and NOED in almost every match. I actually made a post about it when the boon first came out. Sucks but that's how the game is now. I feel bad for both sides.

  • I dont see where you have the numbers to support this. I've played more than a handful of survivor groups and they dont always make it. Even then I average 2 kills. So I'm not sure where this 5% comes from.

Why are survivors crying when higher tiers of play favour them? Even mid-tier survivors with any basic competence can loop, juke, and escape as a whole - if you're not doing so, you're not even mid-tier.

If BHVR releases a kill-rate by rank/MMR, you'll know how little the blanket "50-70% kill rate" means.

Don't take Juny seriously, they're never honest or forthright.

Those 5% might not be exact, but they must be pretty close to reality, hence the reason why DbD doesn't disclose this distribution.

Whenever I play killer and the survivors are solo, almost always I get 4k (or 3k with the hatch) unless something out of ordinary happens. When I play against SWF, I only get kills if they make huge mistakes AND I sweat my guts out. Almost all of my losses as the killer with only a few exceptions happen when I play against SWF, and the same goes for many other players.

Considering now a win is a kill, yes, they do mean something.

I find it ironic that you call someone else dishonest, while simultaneously showing your own intellectual dishonesty and bias in the very first paragraph of this post lol.

I'm a very competent survivor, as are others, and the reality is that if you're solo, it doesn't matter how good you are most of the time.

"but they must be pretty close to reality"

What do you base this on?

  • Member Posts: 2,657

I play exclusively solo (99%) and do have a problem sure do some of my teammates suck yeah but I'm sure I've also been that guy. I almost always run kindred its so much info and then windows helps to know what's still up and hasn't been used. Survivors have the tools to play solo they just prefer the super meta dh ub ds type builds.

Skill wise though no. Bubba with corrupt, deadlock, thana and noed = 2kills easy by face camping.

    0skill, 2 kills

The reality is that a competent survivor can escape in SoloQ, it's just that the power balance has always run Solo < Killer < SWF. Bad teammates will hand a snowball to a killer, sure, but you're not being paired with teammates in SoloQ who're significantly worse than you; bearing in mind that MMR is a trash system, so "worse" probably just means "more successful" to the system. It also escapes a lot of people that SoloQ meta should be different than SWF meta: to make up for that power imbalance, more information and escape perks need to be on the table.

Rank/Iri 1, both killer and survivor, consistent for quite a long time - that doesn't mean I'm "good", it means I play(ed) a lot. I'm bringing it up specifically because I'm saying no matter the tier of play there'll be potatoes, but by most metrics the potatoes you're being paired with now are supposed to be at your level. If they're handing the game to a killer, they're doing so despite being supposedly at your level.

And go through Juny's history. At least Sluzzy tries, rather than just ranting with hyperbolic numbers.

There it is! The guy in the comments talking about how something unrelated is op!

  • Member Posts: 4,233

Well I meant that playstyle be encouraged and classed as win not derank in mmr lol, I dont want easier games just the chance to go for more chases at the higher levels

  • Member Posts: 21,803

No, but Pig is clearly the best and needs a nerf immediately.

  • Member Posts: 1,586

    This^^^

You can’t draw any conclusions without the stats. It would be great to see kill rate for different MMR ranges. I would expect kill rate to be pretty high in low MMR and much lower in high MMR, but we don’t have the data so who knows 🤷‍♂️

  • Member Posts: 4,233

Its because the Escaping is the only factor. You can have the best looper but if he dies he loses. Times iv done insane chases to be left on my first hook to die, even if my team haven't been hooked etc.

@Pulsar, @BrokenSouI plz no, my poor snoot can't do with any more nerfs T.T

  • Member Posts: 9,713

Technically Nurse IS the worst killer in the game for most people. But the best Nurses are among the best killers.

  • Member Posts: 9,713

Kills and escapes are the main thing the matchmaking algorithm tracks. Whether or not you as a player care about them is another story, but the game and the devs obviously care about kills.

  • Member Posts: 10,719

It's never easy to get a kill unless you're Leatherface.

  • Member Posts: 10,719

Saying killers are all good just because of the kill rate is so silly.

  • Member Posts: 9,857

Just because killers can kill survivors in a trial does not mean killers don't have issues they would like the devs addressed.

Like I could facecamp as Leatherface for at least a 2K every game, but that isn't really quite fun.

That's the mistake, take that numbers as a parameter to balance the game. Looks like the classic dev point of view.

They should balance the game around the experience players.

Nurse being the worst killer actually so funny .

  • Member Posts: 1,623

Because kill rate is not equal to a fun match... A whole 4 survivors SWF can stomp me but due to a very poor play which I took advantage of, I won by 4K doesn't mean that I had fun... think about it, this is an asymetrical game yet the killer has slightly more power than a single survivor... and the killer needs to chase and hook 4 survivors so even if the killer gets to capitalize over a mistake and snowball survivors and thanks to it, they end being dead, doesn't mean that you as a killer had a fun match hence the "crying". Killers do want to have some fun instead of sweating for the 4K.

  • Member Posts: 3,081

It's the only thing we really have. Killer mains on here would have you believe that playing killer is almost impossible and survivors are super OP. Yet, the stats say otherwise. Of course it's not 100% accurate, but surely the stats would show a lower kill rate if the game was that unbalanced... right? Idk. I personally think it's pretty balanced right now (solo's could even use a buff).

  • Member Posts: 1,046

Turn of your crosplay. You will get less sweaty killers. And you can have fun dying or escaping.

  • Member Posts: 1,599

SoloQ could always use a buff - but no, the stats aren't even close to useful because they don't account for tiers of play. Each killer's got inherently padded numbers simply because of the number of people who have no idea what they're doing or don't care.

Can you clue me in on what the conversation is about then? I thought I was on track. My apologies if I upset you.

Killers need more nerfs overall! 🤣 Anyway the 2k/ 2 escapes idea is not of my liking I would prefer based on skill.

  • Member Posts: 4,335

Sorry, but if you get hooked 3 times and hit a DS in the time Corrupt is up.

That is a you lack skill problem, not a killer or balance problem.
