The “fair” killer play style is dead

I feel the real issue is many killers lack a decent means to apply pressure. Killers with high mobility can patrol gens and find people quickly. Killers whose power helps them end chases can down someone, hook them and proceed to pressure someone else. Most killers dont have that. Theres stuff like ruin but its very rng, it requires a perk slot and it can be removed.
When freddy got reworked and they gave him a teleport, that really helped him. Pinhead has the chain hunt mechanic which is great for pressuring everyone. I dont want all m1 killers to get a teleport and say "pretty good job so far" but i feel we need more ways to apply pressure.

Aren't you so cool?

I mean, saying "Dbd is a comp game" is the same as saying "Doom Eternal multiplayer is a comp game".
But sure, DbD is a comp game, so well balanced for it.

Regardless if it's balanced or not people are still competitive.

They also removed the aspect of "The killer is going to catch you at some point", now it's "The Killer might catch you by the end of the game"

As a returning player after stopping for a year, I feel this is very true. Survivors get to have so many second chances, I don't think killers should feel bad for tunneling once or twice per game and waiting around the hook for a bit, especially if they know that the survivors rush to the hook right after someone gets put on it. I main Clown, and it's impossible to get to some gens in time on maps that have them spread across long distances.

In high level SWF maybe, but I "play fair" with little to no issues. Depends also what your win condition is. If you're trying to get 4 kills, then yeah it's probably a 30/70 ratio, 30 representing the winning with a 70 being losing. (Also depends on killer and skill though so i personally believe everyone's numbers will be different)
I say this as a rank iri player, you can play fair - sadly I think it takes longer to rank up, but again, depends on what you consider a win in your book. (examples - my own self emposed morales/rules I put on myself, no tunneling, no camping, no slugging, if I run into a survivor I know just got hooked before I hooked another I will not down them, only injure to scare them off, if I do down them, usually pick up and drop em till free. If one person rage DCs everyone else gets to go free, etc etc.) I'd say between gold and iri, for me it's a 40/60 (I usually let the last survivor go) a hyper coordinated swf who finish the gens in 5 minutes. Well. Sucks. It's not impossible, just chances are lower that you're gonna do something without a snowball.
Tl:Dr: it's not impossible, just depends on your definition of a win. Killer & skill comes into play. Swf coodinating makes it harder. Fair play is there, just rarer from killers these days.

I did this day 1 (and a little before) of mmr release and it was just to much. I want a challenge but i also want survivors that are not seal team 6 telling each other every little detail during the match.
The higher i rank up the more i would rather afk the match and watch something on youtube or twitch because it is so boring. I already know exactly what they are doing and what their plan is but there isn't anything you can do against it.

You can play fair and still kill 1 or 2. Killers shouldn't expect to 4K every match.

This and more AFK killers just for derank should tell most people that MMR is a problem.

There's difference between competitive and eSports. Dbd is competitive cause players play against each other. They mb don't take it seriously but they compete to find out who is better.

Idk if it's because I'm a low mmr surv stuck on elo hell, but If I play killer I literally hook someone and go somewhere else. I don't like to do what killers do to me because I'm already traumatized by tunnelers and campers on low mmr.

This game is the furthest thing from competitive it's an unbalanced mess.

I sympathize.
Usually, I try to tailor my playstyle around who I think I'm up against.
If you are rocking fancy outfits, prestige skins and are in an obvious premade, I'm coming in hot and bringing the best addons/perks I have. Sometimes it turns out I've overreacted, in which case I'll probably throttle back. Unless you BM me, in which case - you die now.
Otherwise, I prefer to bring funky perks and play more chill, 2 hooking everyone, having long chases etc.

Tbh I dont care enough to win to be sweaty like that. Sure if all gens are done and all survivors are still alive I'll camp and maybe tunnel, but during the actual game I'm as fair as can be. I personally hate all the sweatiness, so why would I want to be a hypocrite.

You don't understand the meaning of competitive. This is a PvP game, where people face each other and battle it out for a victory condition that results in the other side loses.
PvP games are by definition competitive. It has nothing to do with being an eSports. It has nothing to do with being balanced or not.

You should look up the dictionary if you think competitive/competition is related to balance. Competition/competitive does not have to do with balance. The literal definition is just two people or more vying for something only one can get. People get hung up on some esports definition rather than the one contained in the dictionary.

This is something people like to throw around to discredited that this game is competitive to a point. Just because someone says its competitive doesn't mean they mean on a esports level. In my opinion the biggest problem with losing sometime is that it want even close to a fair match right off the bat. I play huntress on console and getting put on an indoor map with a team that's clearly better than me is a hard loss to take because I qd up for a game waited 10 minutes and got put into a losing situation before I've even moved my character.

It's not just it is dead. It's at certain point your killer pick is dead and if there are 4 decent survivors who want to gen rush, even if u tunnel they can 5gen in 3-4min. It doesn't matter do you play fair or not.

Finally someone else who gets it. The base definition of competitive.
Both sides working on either racing to the same goal or working on contradicing goals, here gen/trial progress vs slowing/stopping it.

Thank you. That's the second person to tell me the game isn't competitive because it's unbalanced. Being unbalanced has nothing to do with whether the game is competitive or not.
