Why did the stranger things perks need a rework?
I am not sure why? It was BHVR so far as I know that made he names of the perks up? so why dod they all need a re name? I understand candy crush came to stranger things but I am not getting why the perks needed to be changed and all hawkins is it even used in that god awful game? Just asking?

My best guess is that they changed the perks to not be affiliated with Stranger Things to accommodate newer players and to make things less complicated. If they kept the name or the same icon I assume they'd then have to make a duplicate of 9 perks for newer players who don't have the DLC. And in that case they'd have to stop players who already bought stranger things from being able to earn the new perks and it'd all get a bit messy.
So the easiest thing to do was to rework the original perks so everyone has the same perks - no duplicates, no issues surrounding who can earn what perk. But as I said I'm just guessing.

... Um... that's already the case.
People who have the DLC had the names changed like everyone else, but the descriptions and icon are the same. The Stranger Things quotes are still there, unless this will change on the 17th.
EDIT: But, to contribute, maybe the names were changed universally so everyone will use the new names and the new players will understand instead of being confused.

IDK why everyone is acting up about them renaming and changing the icons of stranger things perks when this already happened before.
Since they didnt get the bill license on console for some time, his perks were added as general perks with non-bill related icons until they were able to add bill

But... The newly named perks still have flavor text that literally quotes the characters from the show.

My guess is that Netflix wanted everything related to the ST DLC removed, so renaming and redrawing the icons was a way to circumvent the problem without outright deleting the perks.

I'm pretty sure they only have that if you currently own the DLC. My understanding is that they wanted the divide to be more stark, but the change bugged and altered the perk names for people who own the DLC and BHVR just rolled with it? Not sure but that's the impression I got.

It seems odd as they names of the Stranger Things perks don't, to my knowledge, have a direct association with the series. But if the names were made under agreement with Netflix, it could be conditional that they're changed.
Naturally quotes and descriptions should be changed in the event of a character being removed, but do the names really need to change?
I quickly went through the licensed characters and here are the perks (again, to my knowledge) that have direct association.
Quentin Smith - Wake Up (references "waking up" from a nightmare).
Detective Tapp - Detective's Hunch (The word "Detective" connects to the character).
Ash Williams - Flip-Flip, Buckle Up and Mettle Of Man (all referenced quotes in the Ash vs Evil Dead series).
Leon Kennedy - Rookie Spirit (Leon is a rookie in Resident Evil 2).
Leatherface - Barbecue And Chilli (The family "business" in Texas Chainsaw Massacre) Franklin's Demise (Direct character reference).
Freddy Krueger - Remember Me (Quote from the character).
Amanda Young - Make Your Choice (Trademark tag-line from the film series).
Out of these, Flip-Flip, Buckle Up, Mettle Of Man, Barbecue And Chilli, Franklin's Demise, Remember Me And Make Your Choice are the most obvious associated references.
.....
But regardless, it's possible that ALL licensed character perks could be subjected to name changes in the event of a character/chapter removal.
