New DC workaround
*note: I edited this post to include a pic from my most recent disconnect penalty so you can see I neither dc'd or lost internet connection (lower left corner shows I am still connected.) The result is a 24 hour DC ban to matchmaking when obviously I did not.*
Since I constantly get DC penalties even though I do not DC and I never lose internet connection I have come up with a new strategy. I play a maximum of 5 minutes at a time. I set a timer and no matter where I am in the game once the timer hits the 5 minute mark I find the killer and suicide on the hook. Once I have had two successful games of dying at the 5 minute mark I reduce the timer to 4 minutes for two games, then three minutes. If I play two successful games at the three minute mark then I quit for the day.
I can get close to 10K points in 5 minutes, compared to like 20K for games over ten minutes. This has been a fun experiment because it makes you really concentrate on just getting points and not worrying about dying. Now dying is a good thing because it means you get to keep your points and not get a penalty.
The killer used to be the biggest threat, but now the clock is. It really changes the thrill of the game knowing every game you are doomed to die, the challenge is if you will die fast enough to keep your points.

What the hell...

.......if you never dc or lose internet, how do you get dc penalties?
5 -
Why play then?

It seems playing a video game might be too much for you

Since it happens to the same players over and over and some folks never or seldom have it happen the current thinking is one of the nodes in my region is faulty, whenever I get routed through it I will lose connection or it is the old bug that when the killer dcs I get the penalty.|
I've provided proof that I do not dc and shown I never lose connection, so it is not anything I can control. I just got tired of playing well and getting no points and getting dc bans for my efforts.
There are programming fixes the Devs could do to fix this bug, but they never do.

In what way? It is a game and I figured out a new way to beat the bugs which steal the fun from the game. If anything I am too much for the game.

You play this game... to farm points? You know you can't change BP for real money, yea?
2 -
I don't farm points, I earn points by playing. I'm a better than average player, but I am not top tier. I almost always am the last player left alive if my whole team dies, so I know I don't suck, but I also fare poorly in the red ranks so I am not a superstar. I just like a little distraction to play during the work day to get my mind off work for ten or twenty minutes throughout the day. So I guess I am a casual player.

Okay, that's fair then. Imo it's kind of BM leaving the game right at half of it, but the game is yours so play how you want.

You're a wasted space for a player. If you're just going to give up and not bother staying in the game dont play.
Like what's the point in loading in to play a match for 3-5mins. Those are the most boring of matches, and if you're just playing for points you dont get what games was made for. FUN.

This thread should be titled, “How I ruin the game for everyone else”.
6 -
So...you actively want games that are shorter than my survivor queues at night?
Dunno man, sounds like dc'ing with extra steps.

Ultimately you do you I guess but I would think I'd rather just stop playing the game rather than just constantly play half games.
Not even thinking about the team you're screwing over, it seems incredibly pointless and a huge waste of your own time...

What are you working around here?

What is the alternative?
For me if I play normally I get a 6 hour (or more) ban currently and no points and lost items. It isn't like I have the option to play normally and get points or have fun. This way I get close to a half hour of fun as compared to maybe 15 minutes of play and no points and punishment.
I can get at least one gen done and usually a save or two.
I am playing to prestige level 3 all my players then I am done with the game unless it gets fixed.
Look at the above screen and my internet connection in the lower left corner. I have great connection, but this is the point in the game where it booted me out. I know because though I can see the game, I can not wiggle (see the progress meter at 0%? The game is no longer getting my input.) My crime is I did not die fast enough, that Spirit just could not get me to the hook fast enough to kill me.
A few seconds later and I have a 24 hour ban. My crime playing the game correctly and well.
My hope is enough players complain about how others are being treated. If you don't have erroneous dc bans then you should be upset that Behaviour does not care about those who do. Instead of more DLC we want a game which is stable for everyone.

I am not ruining the game for anyone, who suffers? The killer gets bonus points for abandoned. The other players get 30 seconds or a minute of time where the killer is distracted by me. I did not ruin the game, it is broken and unfair, that is on the developers not me.

30 seconds. It hurts my solo que brain that you think that's even remotely impactful. Surely you cannot be that selfish?
Have you also considered playing something else until your issues have been dealt with? You may find you're better off spending your time with something that won't screw you over.

In what way am I being selfish? Look at the above screens. We are in end game collapse, the game is basically over. I am making a major problem public knowledge. I am taking one for the team to get the Devs to fix their game so others can enjoy the game. Are you implying by buying the game, investing time and money in the game and then expecting it to work is being selfish? It isn't like I have the option of playing without being disconnected. I am probably playing just like you but instead of getting points for playing well I am being booted from the game. Selfish is not caring about others, of the two of us which is not thinking of others and how their actions affect others? I am sitting on a 24 hour ban for a game I paid money for and did nothing wrong. The Devs have been informed about this problem for close to a year. That is they are happy to take my money, my end of the agreement; their part of the agreement is providing the game (in a stable configuration) to me to play, they have not.

I should note in the past I had a Behaviour employee trolling me. I reported him to Behaviour for the messages he was sending to me. To retaliate he would come into my games and tunnel, camp and kill me then let the other survivors finish the game as he stood in the corner. He messaged me to let me know he was doing this on purpose to screw with me. I guess there is the possibility he is still working there and is disconnecting me every game. That seems super petty, but people surprise you sometimes.

As a control group I played a bunch of games against the tutorial bots and never had any problem. I stretched the games out to around twenty minutes well past where I usually get booted; not an easy task to keep those pesky bot survivors alive! I was trying to rule out my system being the problem. Never had any problems, so it does seem to be a network problem.
Back to the dc disconnection problem: I have also noticed I usually get booted from a game when I am interacting with the killer in some way, like they are chasing me and swing and miss or they chase me through a window. Once I vault and clear the window the game will boot me, so it does seem to be interacting with the killer brings on the random disconnects. Once in awhile I get booted and I am unaware of the killer's location, so it may be a problem with their connection or something equally as buggy.

I also played several games on the PTB to help narrow down the issue. The PTB servers seem to be stable. So it appears to be related to a node or regional server.
This is a very substantial problem. Could someone else post what they have found works?
Behaviour any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

I just want to say I have now played five games with no DC penalties, I want to thank the developers for working on this problem. I can not remember the last time I played a few games in a row without a DC penalty. Thank you for taking this problem seriously and working on it. Good work guys!

I am up to 11 games today with no false dc penalties. Yeah! You guys fixed something. Do you care to share what the problem was? How did you fix it for future reference?

This guy having a full-on conversation with just himself damn

People who rage quit a lot have really creative minds.

I have a suggestion for you to try. Run your cellphone as a hotspot and see if it fixes it as its a different network and might not have any issues I used to do this in college when my roomies would hog up all the bandwidth. Mind you its not a perfect solution but just remember to turn off the hotspot after the match so you dont spend too much.

I think you came up with an interesting work around. The DbD servers have always been kinda hinky. Have you contacted BHVR to adress the issue? I think it is fine if you play 5 min games, but it would not be for me. It takes 10 just to get in a game. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
