DBD is becoming more and more killer sided every update

Gotta agree on this one :/

Its just crazy how people play 1-2 matches against a brand new killer and they're like oh there op there's no counterplay
3 -
I decided to try the PTB for a day and played as much as I could, but I do have to agree the Artist is very strong in her current state in the PTB and could use some tweaks... in her current state, I expect her to become the new Spirit where people will just DC when facing her because there is no counter play to her spamming her power around loops and getting hits from across whole sets of structures. I don't think she is essentially overpowered, but she does need some changes.
In an unrelated note, I had the honour of facing @Sluzzy last night when I was on the main build.

Since when is Doc a Killer that can only be beaten by top teams???
7 -
good. maybe that'll make the game scarier.
3 -
The counterplay is to Shift+W away from where she sets up. She slows when she's putting up dire crows, and proximity is what really poses a danger - just go to the next loop, rinse and repeat.
1 -
sluzzy play killer you will swap titles on this topic
1 -
Agree, But you know why? killer mains voices are louder and know how to get what they want from the devs.
Small nerf for an S tier killer addon, or small buff for survivors (or even fixing stuff, aka DH). you will see thousends of topics flaming the devs. and the classic "thats it im quitting this game" kinda of topics.
But when killer get good buffs, or survivor had massive nerf they like "meh... thats good i guess"
PTB now has a broken killer, and yet you see people from now saying things like "wait for devs to butcher this killer because she is 'valuable'.." or "can this killer survivor the nerfs". and when devs nerf her as they should. you will see the "thats it im quitting this game" or "is she F tier now?" can't wait.
1 -
Name a "Massive survivor nerf" please
I havent seen any so far?
3 -
I mean every post they make has people calling them out as what they are, a troll. You can take a quick look at their threads and comment history to catch wind of that. Not that I condone insults but I really don't see how someone who actively and regularly promotes discord and messes with the community as a whole is someone who should've made it to 2k posts. But, better than banning them and having a new ignorant account. Lol
6 -
That's your assumption, they are not breaking any rule by just sharing their opinions, but there are users who specifically target them to belittle them and their ideas.
There's a big difference between discussing and insulting, if you want to prove them wrong, then you can share your argument and explain why you disagree with them, however it happens way too often that they get dismissed as "troll" just because their idea doesn't align with a majority of users.
9 -
I'd appreciate threads like this more if people actually engaged in discussion and explained what kind of evidence they have to back up their assertions
Feels like a lot of people just talk past each other
0 -
I'm sorry, but I feel that there's a line to be distinguished between having an opinion and having argumentative posts. Many of the threads and comments they've made are objectively wrong, dismissive of valid counter points and almost always on hotly debated topics with certain word choices I feel are intended to get a rise out of people. There are also certain ways they conduct themselves on the forums. For example creating contentious threads such as this one, and then not even participating in the discourse. Most likely because they are aware of the reaction they'll get from people. A quick look through near all their discussions will show they have made countless controversial posts. And almost always of which are in denial of the actual state of the game, or actual issues. You don't become synonymous for being a troll among the community simply by having a differing opinion.
12 -
Honestly the only problem i have is when threads like this are made, then the OP just stops responding and goes and makes another thread in like a day or two and repeats the process
These aren't discussions
5 -
this too, precisely. He could simply continue the discussion in the original threads he made, however instead decides to not engage in his own discussions at all. And merely creating a new thread about a second issue which could have been debated in the original thread.

If there was an equivalent of Reddit Gold here I would gild this post. Unfortunately there isn't so an upvote is the best I can do.
I think it's too early to call whether the Killer is strong or weak. Plus there's usually changes between PTB and the live version. What changes would you suggest the Killer should get?
The hatch mechanic is now designed strictly for killers alongside end game collapse.
The hatch is a dumb mechanic and it honestly needs a big-ish rework. It doesn't feel good for anyone. You find it first as Killer? Cool, now the last Survivor is basically guaranteed dead. Survivor finds it first? Cool, now the game is over. It's completely down to luck with the Killer having an advantage because they are faster and they can freely move around the map - as Survivor there is the danger of being spotted, but Killer doesn't really have that.
A mechanic that lets the last Survivor escape needs to exist though, otherwise you might as well end the game as soon as three Survivors are dead. The easiest way I can think of that balances the hatch out is either transforming the last Survivor into a Killer, and adding some sort of light PvP where the two Killers stun each other if they hit the other one, or to transform the Killer into a Survivor. Then whoever finds the hatch first wins. That's a pretty extreme change though and almost certainly not a good idea.
Maps becoming more and more killer sided.
The problem here is the map RNG. Some maps can have absolutely awful RNG that results in areas that very much favor one side, and that also feels bad for whichever side draws the short stick.
In my recent matches, all Iridescent survivors and an Ash-Level killer is winning.
Rank / Grade (whatevever it's called) is irrelevant for matchmaking (as in it's literally not used) and basically only shows how much someone has played in the current "rank season".
When are we going to start getting patches that address the imbalances and bring the power of killers down a few notches?
I think it would a good idea if you posted some suggestions to kind of "kickstart" the discussion.

Depands on how long you have been here. I was here when they removed 'infinites', when they nerfed midkets addons, when they nerfed keys and hatch, when they nerfed DS and OoO. all these didn't receive good feedbacks and foucs compaired to nerfing Pop from 60 to 45 sec or Spirit having vault animation.

This.
I wasn't intending to be mean to someone honestly providing a controversial opinion. As my own posting history will attest, I will always try to be civil even when I disagree with someone.
This isn't that.
Sluzzy is infamous on these forums for suggesting/saying patently absurd things.
I understand and will try to tone it down in future. But please keep in mind the above, and the history of the person in question. They are, in fact, known for making...that sort of thread, usually reformatting another recent thread on the forums.

Exhaustion nerf too, it used to recover while running at half speed. That was changed because it was dumb to have your Sprint Burst activate randomly in a chase at the perfect moment with no planning from the Survivor.
All of the things you listed were necessary nerfs (including the Killer ones) so I don't think the nerfs listed hint at any sort of bias towards one role over the other.

Hahaha so are you saying I'm killer main or what? 😂 So funny lol

This “killer sided” game will nerf the new killer just as they have every other killer after release.
Your ez’s will return, just give it time.
1 -
True i didnt say these nerfs were wrong. He just wanted an examples.
2 -
Survivors are the power role still. The playing field hasn't even been evened yet, despite all these recent "killer-sided" things. Besides, the super undeserved killer nerfs kind of cancel it out.
3 -
My threads are very important because they raise important issues with balance. Survivors are usually at a grave disadvantage. My posts are not all the same. Even if they were, why is it ok for a nerf Dead Hard post every day?
5 -
Do Bones.
6 -
Whataboutism doesn't make dishonesty okay.
4 -
Killer voices are definitely louder. They do. This is very true. The boons getting nerfed hard from PTB and not much was said.
2 -
The boon totems weren’t even nerfed hard though. All they did was reduce the range by a few meters and made them not stack. The stacking part was WAY broken.
6 -
What?
Where are boons getting nerfed on the PTB?
Yup.
Because Dead Hard is overpowered, was balanced around it's former quirks, and was still meta.
Plus most of the threads aren't 'nerf Dead Hard' as much as 'fix the fake hit bugs and stop it from messing up killer powers'.
3 -
Pinhead was also nerfed, also deathslinger got more or less gutted.
Boons were nerfed because you could literally heal faster than the killer could hit, but I guess thats balanced?
2 -
Boons weren't nerfed hard at all. That's blatantly false
All they did was remove stacking (Which would literally break the game and could result in game's being held hostage), Reduced the range SLIGHTLY and added a downside to blessing a hex perk so survivors have to make a choice: Remove it quickly or bless it and risk being interrupted
They are still incredibly strong and are about to become even stronger next chapter.
8 -
Do bones.
2 -
Ah, the aura stacking. Yes, I remember Sluzzy defending that...talking about hexes being too strong years ago.
How anyone could think that literal invincibility was fair I have no idea.
7 -
I saw the title and thought to myself: "I bet this is a Sluzzy post".
2 -
My issue is that they always use sweeping generalisations without specifics to back up what they're saying, then repeat the same thing in a few days. If there were concrete examples to rebut/discuss/debate that'd be one thing but they never back up what they're saying with anything but more sweeping generalisations.
2 -
These threads are nice because variety is the spice of life. I get tired of everyone pointing out that the game is survivor sided. This is the right stuff. 👏
3 -
Killer is the power rule. There SHOULD be a disadvantage for survivors at a 1v1. It's a 1v4, so the killer should be oppressive during a 1v1
6 -
True, and as a survivor that doesnt have swf team it is getting much harder to play it feels weird.
2 -
If the killer is a power rule, then by default the killer auto-wins regardless of skill. What is the point or fun factor in learning survivor to know your skill is meaningless? Why not make it a level playing field so then the best player wins?
3 -
look - in a 4v1, whoever the player is one the "1" team should be more powerful than 1 individual team member on the "4" team.
Thats why killers always seem to have such oppresive 1v1s. If no one has a power role, than survivors would win with numerical advantage.
If survs have a power role individually than really, whats the point of having the game anyway, with more, stronger people, and if the killer has the power role against 1 individual survivor, you find an unnatainable treasure called balance.
3 -
Not by default. If the 1 on the survivor team is better than the killer player, the killer shouldn't win a chase automatically because their power is so oppressive.
You also can't always play on a team where they all know the game perfectly to have a slight chance at winning.
2 -
Sure, so killer sided with updates like Boon totems; Deathslinger, headpop Pig and Cenobite nerfs, etc. Try to play both sides enough, snowball pretty much ruined and gens fly. Killer mains literally quitting and playing survivor with current SBMM nonsense, because it's easier and not even close in terms of stress level.
1 -
It feels weird because that's how the game is supposed to be. Killer is supposed to be the huge menacing beast of the Entity made to cuase pain and suffering. Now were some killers too powerful.....yes they were.....was fixing needed to tone them down.....yes I totally agree........did they need a full gutting to make them so easy to loop that the whole fear factor is gone......NO. The Devs take too much information from the players without vetting the info for themselves. We have seen that multiple times with in needed Nerfs like on the Slinger and Wraith. Spirit did need a good counter play and I agree with her changes, just not with the removal of Fathers Glasses.....

3 survivors on gens 1 in chase throws 10 palets. Throw another 10 then run to the open gate team body blocks rinse and repeat. Click flashlights and tbag. Dumb game design.
3 -
There was no counterplay to Deathslinger. Boon totems are very easily snuffed because they are so loud. Cenobite was too oppressive and was winning too much.

My first 600 or so hours of DBD I played exclusively killer, and was of the opinion that the game must be survivor sided.
Then since then I have played A LOT of survivor (more than killer by at least 2:1), and during that time I have learned...that I was more right than I thought I was. This game is clearly tilted in favor of the survivors. I didn't start playing more survivor for that reason, but because survivor is just less stressful.
As for the gripes about killers being oppressive in 1v1, of course they are. If you get into a 1v1 with the killer, it absolutely should just be a matter of time before you go down; it's a 4v1 game, and as the survivor you have the advantage of having a team, which the killer has to divide their attention/time among. If every encounter with the killer could easily be turned into a 2-3 minute chase, killers would never win.
I mean the whole horror appeal is driven by feeling like the protagonists are at a heavy disadvantage, and usually it comes down to teamwork to overcome it (and not everyone makes it), because superhuman/supernatural killers are supposed to be oppressive. The best you should be able to hope for in chase is to buy time for your team, and maybe escape the chase, if you're good.
And to me, that's the whole point of DBD; weaker characters use numbers/coordination to overcome the big bad killer. If you're looking for a balanced 1v1 test of VG skill, you have come to the wrong game.

Sure, it can be if the survivor is really good (or the killer is really bad/tilted). All I am saying is that isn't be remotely easy, the survivor should be at a large disadvantage in 1v1.
I am not a top tier killer by any means, but I can count on my fingers and toes the number of times I've been run by one survivor for more than a couple minutes. How many 4 man escapes I have I allowed? A whole lot more than that, lol. And that's the way the game should be, imo: survivors largely living and dying (apologies for the pun) as a team.

lol, in retrospect. I suppose it was. Being a little bit too earnest tonight, I suppose.

So according to Sluzzy, survivors who can escape trial can be called Gods of Heaven and Earth cause they managed to achieve impossible.
Ty Sluzzy, i feel high now 😇
