Boon totems on indoor maps
How are they fair?
short answer is, they aren’t. You get the full effect of fast heals and no scratch marks or auras no matter what level you’re on and if the killer wants to stop this, they not only have to abandon chase but head off on a completely different floor to the survivor! By that time they’ve fully healed up and ready to bless the next totem
how this made it past testing I have no idea, you can tell the devs never play killer, I just had a match on Midwich and it was absolute torture, I got zero value from ‘A Nurses Calling’ and was losing track of survivors so much I just gave up on being nice and had to resort to face camping the hook just to try and secure one kill
Boon totems are bad enough on open maps, but on indoor maps, especially paired with ‘Iron Will’ good luck tracking anyone before they’ve fully healed mid chase

As if getting a nurse on midwitch was ever even 1% fair for survivors, or any indoor map that is 100% killer side, I wish all indoor maps get deleted. 🙄 Least boon totems now give survivors a chance indoor maps.

Do you not see the problem though of one Boon covering multiple floors? The killer has to either commit to a nearly impossible chase or travel half way across the map, up the stairs and half way across the map again just to snuff it out. You could literally have a Boon 5 feet away from you but because it’s on a level above you it’s gonna take about 30 seconds just to get there, and that’s just one. God help you if there’s multiple totems up that can keep being re-blessed all game

Boons are really only a problem on Midwich since 4 of them can cover the whole map. I don't know how that would be fixed, though.

I do but the problem is a nurse on midwitch = 95% chance to lose because shes able to just go anywhere with no limits and that is stupidly unfair
1 -
The Game and RPD are not killer sided at all.

What about hexes? Are they fair?
2 -
Yes, because one cleanse and it’s gone forever. Hexes are high risk, high reward whilst a Boon perk slot is low risk, high reward as it can be re applied indefinitely
not to mention survivors have maps and totem perks to specifically find hexes easily. Killers have a little bit of sound to detect Boons but only if they’re close enough and a survivor can just hop right back on it to re bless it once they’re gone
3 -
So, hexes are good, boons are bad, even though boons are direct mirror of hexes. Gotcha.
1 -
Direct mirror? One is a ‘one life only’ perk when it’s destroyed and the other can be re applied over and over and over and over again? Tell me how that is a direct mirror?
Survivors can permanently cleanse a totem while killers can only temporarily snuff out a totem before someone else re applies it. How can you possibly think boons and hexes are on equal footing
4 -
Boons:
can choose your own totem to bless
no visual information to the killer
can never be permanently destroyed
Hexes:
no say where it spawns, could be right near a survivor spawn
maps and perks to easily find them
once they’re gone, they’re gone forever
but yeah “direct mirror”

I play on an Xbox1 and I don't know how any update gets past testing for years now. A surv team having more than one boon effect up on more than one totem drops frames so bad right now.

Becuz things in DBD work in a spherical manner. This applies to Killers' terror radius as well.
Unless you change the whole system and make Boon totems and terror radii only work for the specific floor, then you're stuck with this for now.

This...I think boons would be fine if they were single use like Hex perks. You can't really use any Hex perks anymore since all the survivors are running around looking for totems to use for boons. I have even had multiple matches that I tried NOED and there were zero totems left to activate it. The devs either need to make boons a one shot deal like hex perks or let killers "rebuild" our totems. I'm a killer main and I am wanting to play less and less because of boons.
If you think it is fair play a few matches as a killer and see how much fun it is to have a bunch of perks made obsolete. It also is frustrating to be in chase and all of a sudden scratch marks disappear. This is fundamentally changing the game. The mechanic for a killer to find and chase survivors is through scratch marks. Now with properly placed boons they just disappear. So now you have an unlimited use self heal which is 100% faster than regular heal. Also you have an unlimited Lucky Break. As someone said I am not sure how this made it into the game.

the 100% healing speed is if other people heals you pretty much its a reworked we make it for the entire team. but if your healing yourself and not let others doing it the healing speed is the same slow speed as claudio old self care.

Thank you for clarifying about healing, I must have misread the perk about circle of healing. I stand by my other comments.

Hexes are great.

Maybe look outside one perspective and look at the totality of the game.

All radial fields need to be spherical rather than cylindrical, so that their range diminishes on multiple floors.
This would affect boons, but predominantly terror radii and associated killer powers/perks.

Stop comparing boons to hexes, hexes have a much bigger impact on the game. Boons take significant time to relight and only 1 second to snuff, it’s also pretty damn loud and bright. Idk what’s with the “you can only hear and see if near”. Every time i play killer it’s like a beacon and constant ringing in my ears.
Capitalize on the time they take on boons, capitalize on their greediness for the need to constantly want to run back and boon it again.
There is counter play, and it is fair. No matter how you guys try to spin it. Annoyance and change of play style is not a reason to nerf something.

Boons are not hexes, if you want them to be single use their power has to be brought in line like hexes, so will their snuff time.
Will you be okay with that?
0 -
There is no "time" to capitalize on. You need to be protecting gens at all times, and cannot run away from the gens to find survivors blessing totems.
Survivors have infinite time to do whatever they want, because the killer cannot leave the gens. They can relight totems as many times as they please.

Just remove the killer notification, and maybe reduce the range of the audio a little too. It won't alert the killer to the boon until it's already been used, practically guaranteeing that the boon gets usrd before it's snuffed.
Yes Boons aren't Hexes, but we do have a valid comparison, Inner Healing.
CoH getting just one fast heal off before it's snuffed is enough, that's all you get out of Inner Healing. And like Inner Healing, one use per totem would be perfectly fair. But it would still be entirely possible to get multiple heals off before it gets snuffed, so it would still be substantially more powerful than Inner Healing, even at one use per totem.

Try Bloodhound instead of Nurse's Calling.
Thank me later.
