Can DBD be remastered to 4k, pretty please?
There are a few videos of what dbd would be like in 4k. Can DBD eventually go there please, Devs? I would do / give anything for that to happen. I cannot think of a single legit reason for not making this happen.

Oh, they can fix it. They said in their anniversary video that dbd was made by some of the "finest developers" in the industry.

We've been asking them to fix the issues for like 3 years straight and for every issue that is resolved something else seems to be taking a hit.

No offense, but DBD devs are not even close to the "finest developers".

And also force 4k just to piss of the console players.

Graphics aren’t everything. If anything, “realistic graphics” like this are a sure-fire way to make a game look dated later down the line.
Also, as others have stated, there are simply way too many issues that are far more important.

Bruh this game doesn't even run at 60 FPS for us on Console and has stutters at 30 FPS and you want 4K?

I think upscaling this game to 4k would turn every Nintendo Switch that ran it into an IED.

They only concentrate on gameplay/balancing heehee.

Theoretically, not super hard to do. The problem is: The game has to run on 7(?) different sources, PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox one and Xbox X(or whatever consoles are called nowadays). 7th would be the phone but they use a completely different engine and end-code...
Normally, if a game is only centered around consoles, it's way easier, you have one type of hardware, you optimize for it, done (of course it's not THAT easy).
Next, we have switch, it can barely run the game as it is... let's leave it out for now.
PCs are a very special thing, there are so many combinations of hardware it's super hard to test them all, and especially optimize, then we need to remember that certain options could give an advantage:
-less foliage makes survivors easier to spot
-reflections could give away info
-shadows, level of detail, etc.
so we can't mess around too much with this. The "easiest" would be to update some textures, and, as much as i want to hate the game, if you compare the game before the visual update and afterward, it looks WAY better.
4k itself is such the amount of pixels itself. The term "4k" is basically just marketing. The game already IS 4k, or even 8k... when you have the right monitor or supersampling...
but i know what you mean, i saw the videos too. The problem: it's a different game, and i don't mean "it wouldn't be the same game" it's literally made with another game-world editor, i just can't remember which it was.
Engines are fragile, every engine. Unreal Engine, super strong, can look super awesome, but not very good for multiplayer per se.
A complete overhaul of that game like that would mean building the game from the ground up. And no one wants to spend the time or resources on that.

That said, I see no reason not to do this OP. Just have the standard 'performance' and 'quality' settings for console. PC can do texture settings as is, just need the option for 4k pack.
I would, but I'm always nervous of getting banned for firing up Reshade, as I got a 3 month ban in another game for using it.

Eh...I've got a fair bit of dosh invested. And you never know.
Cheaters - yeah. They are frustrating and not a day goes by without one 'hang on, was that guy hacking or am I just really bad at this?' game.
That is neither here nor there. Have 4k as an option as with a lot of console games on the new gens. 'Performance' and 'quality'.
PC can already play this game fine and there's no reason not to throw in a 4k texture pack for PC gamers.

Well if the game survives until next gen consoles are released, if they were to do it they'd probably do it then.

The game barely runs as it is.

In fact, the game is already being updated visually. The only problem is that the developers have been releasing graphic patches for a very long time, and have not reworked all the old characters.

Let's shoot for 60 fps first.

It would be cool if there were an option, but really, I'd rather they save it for DBD 2 instead of wasting their resources for the current game-- especially when they could be using those resources to fix other things.

You wanna know something funny yet sad? Ps3 games still run better then dbd on ps4 or xbox.

There is going to be a DBD 2?

Sadly during their last Q&A they said they have no plans to add graphics options for the consoles.

Nothing's been announced. I'm just speculating that they will because of the money they've made from DBD, and the smart move is to invest that in a "better" version of what they already have. DBD will need a reboot eventually.

They say that... but the fact that it hasn't been fixed already really downplays what they said.

This game has 2010ish graphics and you still need at least a mid-high end PC to run it well, imagine what a disaster 4k would be.
3 -
Why are you trying to completely destroy last gen consoles? This is exactly how you do that. They already struggle enough with the current graphics.
1 -
Right?!?! I can hear tertified Switches everywhere shriek in horror... prolly would melt my Xbox1.

I'd like to play the game on console aswell but we can't get everything we wish for

Well let's then hope for a remastered, better optimised dbd in the form of DBD 2 that wont end up causing problems for other platforms. Hopefully the devs are ambitous enough to try this and not be content with only dbd as their basic bread and butter.
