should this have been a poll?

The problem:
- balancing around the timers is not easy
- doing gens is boring af
- it wont solve the problem on any sides

Probably, but it's a more nuanced question than you'd think.
In solos - gen speeds are fine.
In SWF - gen speeds are sometimes not fine, depending on map and killer. It's too easy to rotate people onto and off gens that you are trying to pressure and there isn't much possible counterplay. (the perks that would serve this purpose are just ridiculously weak).
With toolboxes and perks (BNP+PTS is the big offender here) - gen speeds can definitely not be fine. It should not be mechanically possible for a team to pop 1 gen in 14 seconds, 2 gens in under a minute, the third gen just as the killer begins their first chase and the fourth as they hook. That's silly.

I would enjoy an extra main objective of some kind. Increasing gen speeds creates WAY more balance issues than it is worth. Also it's not really fun or engaging to sit on a gen for an excruciatingly long time.
I'm not sure what could be done to add another MANDATORY objective but it would help break up the game and give survivors something else to do which honestly they need a little something extra.

They would need to overhaul sooo many perks for a new objective and adding new.
The best would be to have more than just "skillchecks".
Smaller adjustments like not being able to "tab" a gen to stop regressing, kicking a gen actually doing something (without perks). Like.. you just waste 3(?) seconds or so and the survivor is like "tap" and it stopped.

No, increasing Gen Times won't be any fun at all
Base regression needs to be higher then it is right now
Honestly Totems are the second objective... Hex perks and Boon perks

Gen speeds are fine. Toolboxes and perk that boost your repair speed are bad.
If u nerf gen speed, toolboxes will be must have. Better nerf items and perks that make gens fly.

The issue with gens rn are usually just Brand New Parts and toolboxes in general, as well as survivor spawn locations. I'd say leave the speeds as they are.

Any kind of gen slowdown is hindered by the fact that camping exists. Camping mandates genrushing, so genrushing can't be fixed until camping is addressed, otherwise camping becomes both the least fun and the most effective strategy.
That said, one way gen speeds could be addressed is via the co-op repair speed. Currently, for every additional survivor on the same gen, all survivors suffer a 15% repair speed penalty. If there's four survivors on one gen, they all repair at only 60% of the normal speed, totaling 240% repair speed. Which means one of the four survivors' contribution is trashed.
The issue with this is that now, the fastest way to do gens is also the safest: spread out, one survivor on every gen. This is fastest because all survivors operate at 100% speed, and this is safest because the killer can't pressure four gens at the same time.
I think the game can gain a lot of ground here.
My suggestion is to increase base gen time from 80 seconds to 110, but to offset that by changing co-op repair speed from -15/-30/-45% to +15/+15/+15%. This comes down to a change in gen time of less than a second if two survivors are on the same gen.
That way, while survivors will still be able to clear gens quickly, it's no longer the safest option. The killer's pressure is more valuable, and if he hooks a survivor, he's not just taking their repair effort out, but also the speed boost they can confer on others.
Overall, I think this would increase gen times a little bit and empower the killer without extending gen times into a dull M1 simulator.
