The Cheating Issues Will Continue to Hamper Player Fun until BHVR Takes Action

Right? It's so bizarre that some of these things don't get detected by EAC or the servers

I've played a lot of survivor the past days and found a cheater who doesn't even change their name. I've met them 4 times throughout the past days.
They always play Quentin and fly around with infinite firecrackers blinding everyone for minutes (including other survivors), insta-repairing gens whilst screaming like he's getting hooked etc.
Obviously can't name them but some people may know who I'm talking about since he really seems to always have the same name and same character (Quentin) and they're not even trying to hide their cheats. Just blatantly flying around sometimes with a flashlight that's so bright it lights up the entire map like an explosion.
1 -
It would be hilarious to see you all running from quentim while throwing firecrackers like a bombing plane lol Okay for a few mins is fine but all game doesnt

Another cheater. Another 6-hour ban for "ruining their fun," by removing myself from the situation since the devs won't do it for us.
2 -
Be careful. You're perma banned sooner than the people who cheat.
4 -
I wonder how long this will be going on for.
Also is this gonna be another 100 page megathread?
1 -
Until something is done about hackers, we're gonna keep this thread active just like console optimization.
6 -
Ideally, we hit 3 pages and they post a response

Don't think it's gonna happen, but still.

True there.

I'm a rank 1 on both survivor(mostly solo) and killer and I'm getting hackers ever 4-5 matches. Both survivors and killers

This game is running fast to being the next TF2.

Release more skins we need more money to fix hackers and consolo optimization please buy our skins of 15 bucks.

Just ran into my first hacker since I've been back for a month and a half. Dude was playing trapper with increased speed, permanent auras, and the ability to teleport.

It's only a matter of time until cheaters find a way to ban you. Imagine having to completely start over
0 -
I bet if you went to their official Discord and asked these questions. You'd get banned pretty damn quick.
0 -
Thanks for making this @Pulsar. Maybe a cheater thread that grows like your optimization threads will actually be acknowledged for once.
0 -
Also, bump because this seriously needs to be addressed.

Ive been getting a lot of hackers all of a sudden.
0 -
Yes and BHVR apparently doesn't back up their data, hence why they can't give Legacy cosmetics back and why people randomly get their account yeeted.
3 -
They had a way to ban you through the DC penalty. But BHVR did patch that after a while.
1 -
I guess that if cheaters ban you,you are able to talk with BEhaviour for it or steam.

Fun fact: The man who was responbile for finding that exploit and using it to harass streamers, especially Tru3talent, is still playing the game to this day and according to a trusted source may be the one who started to make the DDoS exploit wide-known. Which itself is months old but was just not known to anyone.
BHVR legit does not give a crap currently about solving this problem. I'm not even sure if they consider it a problem. Their only responses to the cheater problem has been the following:
- A generic worded statement to Eurogamer which they have done little to repost on their main social media platforms or in the in-game news section.
- New rules for Fog Whisperer's that say they can't complain too much about cheaters. Lest they make BHVR look bad.
3 -
If Steve has been recorded as flying with the anti cheat software then why isn't this flagged?
0 -
Not exactly true. It's possible to unban your own account through hacks I kid you not. The game's anti-cheat is a complete joke. Hackers do not worry about it at all.
1 -
Interesting. Has BHVR been aware of it for that long?
0 -
I don't know. But others have been aware of this exploit. Even if they knew would have they done anything? I mean there are multiple videos showing all the crazy ######### hackers can do going back years and they have done nothing. They haven't even took legal action against the public sites which discuss about and sell DBD cheats.
Other game companies will sue the cheat makers and do rolling ban waves that take down thousands of accounts. Meanwhile BHVR will maybe ban a hacker after weeks or months someone went through their arduous report system. A process most DBD players aren't aware of. Most players still only report hackers through the in-game report system thinking it will do something.
They'll probably do something now that a big video game site talked about it. But who knows how long it will take for them to fix their EAC system. The cynic in me says they will only fix the IP leak exploit and do nothing about the other hacks/cheats.
6 -
Is that rule for Fog Whisperers really true? Because if it is, I'll honestly never spend a single buck on DBD anymore.
0 -
According to my trusted source it is. New rules dropped this month concerning how they can talk about game balance, cheats/hacks, and leaks. Essentially they can't be too hard on the devs or get too negative. Which is understandable as FWs are meant to be ads for the game. But you'd at least expect the devs to do something about the topics they don't want the FWs to rant about.
6 -
If they don't want people to be talking negatively about these things they should maybe START ACTING. Welp, guess this is a goodbye for these forums.
3 -
Ill miss you, whoever you even are.
2 -
They can talk about these things but they aren't allowed to get too angry or imply the devs are doing a terrible job.

Last week I had two killer hackers in two different games. First was a clown who was super obvious, He downed everyone in 30 seconds and flew around the map whipping gas bombs at a rate of a dozen a second. Second was a trickster who selectively cheated, he only cheated when not being watched. But again he was moving way too fast, never ran out of knives, and magically appeared next to gens being repaired and kicked them to 0% progress.
0 -
I have never cheated, but occasionally I get some sort of disconnect and an anti-cheat message saying my game triggered an anti-cheat response. What is going on here? Does the anti-cheat software ignore actual cheaters and targets honest players or am I possibly being hacked?
0 -
I don't know about you guys, but I'm not touching this game untill all these issues are resolved. The swatting especially scares the living ######### out of me. People have been killed over this in the past. It is absolutely outrageous it is not getting officially addressed.
5 -
Me either.

This is so sad to hear, not gonna lie.
2 -
hacking is getting real in your servers, here in SA is not commun to see them, i guess cause here in latam is not like we can afford paying 50dls a month for a hack and then still potentially getting banned. and im glad of that. but still something must be done. i got the idea of adding a record game system from all perspectives so sending tickets would be WAY easier with ACTUAL proof of what happened.
1 -
This is a serious issue. I haven't ran into many hackers (or maybe just didn't notice), but I've heard many people say that they run into them frequently. You can't even DC if the hackers decide to hold the game hostage because that will get you a DC penalty. I really hope BHVR does something about this because this cannot continue any longer. This needs to be resolved immediately.
0 -
The DC penalty should be removed and the cheaters will go away. The cheater knows you are stuck in a match and is being held hostage.
I was in a match one day and a Steve had infinite fireworks. The killer and survivors basically played the match blinded the entire match and was forced to take a DC penalty. That's not fair.
12 -
This...is unprecedented.
Sluzzy has a good take.
I don't think all the cheaters will go away, but at the very least, the victims won't be forced to eat an undeserved penalty
8 -
It would at least help until they fixed it. I was saying they would be less likely to hack knowing you wouldn't have to endure it.
A flying ghostface with hatchets? Nope, I'm out..
3 -
We can now confirm that Sluzzy is not a hacker.
3 -
I always had faith.
He might be a sluzz-ball, but he's no sleaze-ball.
7 -
Oh cool, PSA on the DDoS issue.
Actually proud of them.
Took a few days to grow an integrity spine, but grew one they did.
3 -
Did y’all see BHVR’s statement??
2 -
Alright guys BHVR has responded. It’s not about the cheating issue but they mentioned the DDOS issue. Atleast there talking about it
0 -
I'm torn. I'd think this is a good idea if there's a relatively imminent fix on its way, and the DC penalty is disabled for maybe a week, but this has been going on for months and I'm loathe to see DC penalties turn off for several more. The game gets really unplayable in that state (I pretty much have to play killer because solo survivor sees someone quit every single game. Now it's even worse because you can't even safety pip by soldiering on; your MMR is a near-guaranteed drop unless the killer takes pity) and it feels like trading one gamebreaking issue for another.
But you are right, the incentive to cheat drops sharply when everyone immediately leaves and cheaters don't have any power to grief people. Unfortunately, this wouldn't disincentivize the subtle cheaters, but it does take the wind out of the sails of the blatant ones who play to antagonize.
Anyway. I'm glad they finally made a statement. I would have been more reassured if they had alluded to progress on either of these issues, but it's good they're making people aware this is a problem.
1 -
They may have made a statement, but it smells of typical, empty corporate placation. Actions speak a hell of a lot louder than words, and they sure aren't showing us a whole lot of actions.
