Circle of Healing has been a solo queue blessing

Pun fully intended.

This isn't meant to be a discussion on the strength of boons. Most of us know that they're incredibly strong, with COH taking the place for one of the best survivor perks currently in the game.

But something I've noticed while using COH in solo, is it genuinely makes my teammates play better. It'll give them a big area where they can heal up, and since most survivors in solo can't fathom being injured they'll usually congregate over there, allowing for everyone to be healed up within under 30 seconds.

No more survivors who are incredibly interested in foliage because they're injured. No more survivors who go to the corner of the map to self care through sloppy butcher, only to be hit within another 3 seconds. It makes them play better and makes solo more enjoyable.

So despite the obvious balance issues with the perk, thanks for making solo just a tiny bit more bearable. Even if it is tied to a perk. Again.

A definite add to my solo build. With many others decked out for safe saves and extended chases, providing the ability to heal for everyone increases the odds massively.

There were games that Killers tunnel Mika, I self heal with her Coh then body block Killer, take hit, back to Coh then repeat. While other 2 do Gens.

Not always able to save tunneled one though, but feel good doing so.

It would be interesting if there was some "only solo q" benefits to reduce the gap between swf. I play only solo q and yup boons are not as broken as if swf use them and it help, although 3 or 4k is still the average kill counts of killers most of the times, that.. didn't change much 😅

Absolutely agree. I love boons as a solo player. Heck, I love them in my swf. It just makes life THAT much easier. I am not some survivor God that can loop for 5 gens. The time it takes to use the boon is game winning at my level of play because we aren't good enough to hammer gens and avoid a snowball.

Really irrelevant to what i said. Im just saying how my games as a solo q survivor end, usually.

It's hit-or-miss for me. Sometimes boons are clutch, but time spent blessing is time not spent on a gen. So sometimes I'm the only one doing gens and we lose because my team is more interested in boons.

As a solo player, I like to support my team every game and am addicted to running Bond + Open Handed every game as a result. This usually meant I only had two other perk slots to play with, which forced me to choose running either:

    • A body blocking build (We're Gonna Live Forever + Self Care)
    • A healing build (Self Care + Botany Knowledge)
    • An information/totem build (Kindred + Small Game)
    • A rallying build (Better Together + Autodidact)
    • A gen rush build (Better Together + Prove Thyself)

Since I'm indecisive, it really made it hard to choose between these builds each game since I wanted to do everything all at once.

Thanks to CoH I finally feel like I can achieve this dream since I can just run this perk and basically get a budget or super version of everything except Prove Thyself and Kindred. Small game also became pointless since I don't want to reduce the number of boon spots I have either.

Not only that, but it makes me and my team more confident to make plays throughout the game, like body blocking hooks. It especially helps when fighting the end-game camp by setting up a boon near the hook to ensure everyone is healed for multiple save attempts until we get it right.

It really does fill in the gaps in solo queue like nothing else I've ever seen before, and makes it quite fun.

    ---

Then again, the fact it does all of this as a single perk I took just shows me even more how broken it is and how I'm certain limits need to be imposed.

I'm not even kidding when I say I'm tempted to compare it to original Decisive Strike in terms of game impact.

... And then I look and compare it to other perks on both killer and survivor sides (but especially some hex perks) and get even more reassured of that.

    ---

But I digress, it definitely does make solo queue survivor a lot more fun.

I agree wholeheartedly. COH has made my games more bearable than usual in Solo Queue. Definitely something that Solo’s needed. I won’t say its a buff though.

Im far from saying "killers are op, pls nerf" lol. The truth is that solo Q and SWF are two different DBD games thats what i was telling.

And yup even if you die, survivor is always more chill than killer. I play both sides too and i know how frustrating can be to go againts SWF squads most of the times and be forced to play a limited killer roster.

Back to the topic, my Solo Q experience is: i end dying with the most bloodpoints, I carry the team, or very few times i escape.. i feel that the SBMM doesn't work as it should, and the increment of killers camping and tunneling from hook 1 because of the recent patches don't help either.

That's why i think the devs should do something to reduce the gap between SWF and solo Q. Because SWF is not balanced, and the difference is pretty big.

I'm glad that you see an improvement among the players you play with

But on the other hand I feel like the stacking effect that it brings is too much (IMO)

Yea healing boon became perma part of my loadout. Not only its strong and meta af, it also gives other teammates info and a safe space for heal/reset.

Depends where the totem is located it can last whole match and in indoor maos it can be actually broken with the area of effect applies to upstairs and downstairs layer as well.

Someday, we will help Solo Q without giving them perk band-aids.

Who would've thought that infinite med kits for the entire team would make the game easier?

I can count with the fingers of my hands how many times a Boon has tilted the scales in favor of the Survivors in a real meaningful way, both playing as Survivor and as Killer.

In my opinion people are overreacting to Boons, they are strong but not as broken as old MoM or first iteration DS.

Who'd have thought that I know it makes the game easier and it's an incredibly strong perk and literally addressed this in my post :0

There will always be a survivor interested in the foliage. Always.

In many cases survivors don't use it correctly: they set it up when the killer is close and is immediately snuffed. They set it up in a frequent place so the killer snuffs it out easily. They transfer it to a different location without a good reason. So they often waste a lot of time on it.

It often reminds me of survivors self-healing in the corner.

It's for sure a really good perk but I still think, looking for a totem is no efficient time on a gen. But everyone can decide for themselves.

  • GoodBoyKaru
    GoodBoyKaru Member Posts: 22,819

Setting up a 14 second boon = 16 seconds saved every time someone wants to heal. I think it's worth it.

If you have a efficient anti totem team will this perk not Help at all. I had such rounds too. People break it and you want to bless it. Still waisted time for me.

Its not hard to understand the context of my post and Its not a lie or an exageration to say that killers get 3 or 4k most of the times when playing againts 4 randoms, it happens and everyone can notice it while playing solo Q or killer. Just when SWF show up is when the tides turn drastically to survivor so i don't think anyone has misunderstood my earlier posts.

I can see how your original comment would be misconstrued except it is under a post all about solo survivor so that should apply enough context

Or just reading the whole post to understand 😂. I guess some people simply stop reading when they see something they don't like.

    Wish i could relate.

All i see is people playing with totems that get snuffed shortly afterwards and nobody but me sitting on gens.

That said they are very solo friendly for a team perk. The white aura of the boon was all it took to close that bridge between swf and solo

It's sad that she gets tunneled often, she become one of my favorite characters and i don't even use boons.
