How many hours does someone need to be “good”?

I have many friends who only has 30 hours or less, and they aren’t good. I think to at least be familiar with most things in the game you need at least 100 hours.

So, in your opinion, how many hours do you need to be good at this game?

I don't think there's some kind of set number, everyone learns at a different pace, some people are good after 100 hours, while others are still bad after 1000.

Around 1000 hours for survivor mains. You will be really really good when you reach the 1500h mark.

    Same for killers.

If you begin being a main something, then if you start playing the other role with 1500 hours in the previous one, the learning time will be shorter as you will know maps, loops and global design mechanics. Let's say from this start point, 500 hours to master this role will be more than enough.

It's not about the hours, it's about how much knowledge you've acquired + then a little bit of time added to that to get experience putting it into practice.

Generally I think you'd get enough understanding of the mechanics to be considered "good" after about 50 hours, if you also understand how it all works. For survivor, anyway- killers require their own individual learning curves as well as a general understanding of the killer game.

however many you need, its different from player to player.

i like to think that i was pretty good at the game when i hit the 1k hours, but i also know a lot of people who are quite significantly worse than me at that stage who have more than double these hours.

There is no set amount of hours. I have over 3k hours and Im still terrible at looping. I know how to shift + W, run the second I see a killer coming at me from the distance or if Spine Chill lights up, but actually looping and proper mind games are just out of my reach unless I’m lucky.

    Im worse when playing killer.

It's not how long you play but whether or not you can self reflect to correct noticeable mistakes and habits.

As a killer, seeing a survivors with 1000 Im not worried

Seeing a Survivor with >2000 and they probably wont fall for most common tricks

around 3k or more? I probably need to be more attentive

Anything higher and theyre either a streamer or some one with A LOT of time on their hands, meaning theyre either gonna mess around because after that many hours thats what you do, or theyre gonna be a very hard to catch

A killers skill is seperated in different parts that just take a lot of time to properly learn, the hardest is spotting opportunities to start snowballing, and normally killers who I see doing this have A LOT of hours, around 2-3k.

The amount of hours it takes to be good at a role is a lot more than people give it credit.

With that being said, would someone with only 300hrs but they have watch quite a lot of dbd videos be comparable to someone with 700-800hrs with no dbd videos watched ever?

It is not based on hours, but on the number of comments on this forum.

dbd's skill cap can't be that high

Different for each player, everyone learns at a different pace and improves. I personally got noticably better around the 700/750 hour of playtime mark. Realizing what you did wrong is something a lot of people do, but applying those 'fixes' and staying consistent with those fixes is what takes longer. Making tiny adjustments, bit by bit.

What is "good" ? It's a word but when are you good and when are you not good? And who decides when you reach this good level? 😀 Basic question that needs an answers first. I have 4000 hours in this game and sometimes I feel incredible and sometimes I make mistakes and die or get 0 kills as killer, and I think I stink at this game.

Good = high MMR/ excellent knowledge of the game and its mechanics

Depends on the someone. You can't strictly tie it to hourcount, there are probably people out there who go past "good" and into "top tier" really quickly because their brain is wired in a way that really clicks with the way DBD is played. Other people could rack up multiple thousand hours and still be below average, because they're either unwilling or unable to reflect on their mistakes and grow as a player.

Time played only gives a very general suggestion of skill, it has to be measured completely separately.

I think after 1000 hours there's not much you can improve.
