If you had just learned about DBD would you play it?
Like, let’s say your memory of DBD gets completely wiped and you find out about the game again. Would you purchase the game again? Why?

If I knew about BHVR and how they treat the game and players I wouldn't make the same choice again.
I went on a year long break not that long ago. Honestly, the only thing I really missed was watching streamers like Otz, Farmer John, Hybrid Panda, and Tru3.

Absolutely.
I started at a really bad time. Killer matchmaking protections had recently been disabled and would remain that way for a long time. About half my games, as a very new player, were against SWF teams of survivors with hundreds, sometimes thousands of hours of experience, frequently smurfing at green or lower ranks. A lot of very unpleasant people telling me to 'uninstall, games full' in postgame.
I persevered for a while and liked it...okay, despite it being very frustrating. Eventually I had one really bad experience that made me quit entirely.
I came back just after SBMM was introduced and the game was so, so much better.

I don't believe I could endure the learning curve again. No, I think I would love to have Eternal Sunshine of a DBD Spotless mind.
Oh, that game looks interesting.......maybe someday.

No. Considering the amount of bugs that happen every update, the unbearable grind, the horrible game imbalance, and the questionable decisions made for the game, I don't think I would start playing this game if I were introduced to it today.

Yes. I'm not going to run on forums to find out if someone likes the game or not. If not everyone but majority streamers and YT content creators have fun playing the game and it's more important for newcomers.

Maybe the thing about this game tho is that it seems pretty cheap for the amount of content it offers on multiplayer game but after 4 years with some of the dame bugs popping up again i might be hesitant. This game needs a bit more variety outside of playing a killer.

Never. If I could go back in time I'd stop myself from ever installing it. They've never optimized for console and now cross-progression for Switch is a "maybe someday, if you're lucky" thing. I'm constantly worried DbD is going to overheat my PS4 and actually physically harm the system. My all-time favorite thing to do as killer was play Spirit and chase one person, then break off the chase and surprise someone else nearby who thought they were safe on a gen or healing. It was the best way to scare someone in this "horror" game, it was great, but with her nerf she can no longer do that.
The reason I started playing this game was for the Hallowed Blight 2018 event. I loved the theme and the cosmetics, so I started playing. That event has never happened since nor will it ever happen again, so I don't believe I'd be convinced to try the game out. There are other actual horror games that would be way more enticing (in fact, I'm playing Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water right now).

No i would see the grind and stop playing immediatly. But i would give the game a good try but i probably after 10 or so hour i would uninstall the game

Well, technically no? I just got an Xbox for Halo Infinite, so I would probably just pay for Game Pass if I never played it on Playstation. Albeit, I did get it free for Playstation back in 2018 when it was on Plus. Glad I was thinking ahead. I would probably be hesitant to buy dlc killers on a game I didn't technically own, however. So they would have made less money and I would have been more likely to quit.

Me and 2 of my buds got the game and we all got it at the same time, at the time I saw it as a very unique and interesting game but never thought I'd take it seriously
And thats probably how I would see it now

Hell no, if I saw the grind, how the devs have double standards, if I read the forums or something what is happening and stuff, I would never touch this game.

i totally would, because the concept is amazing.
i would start playing it until i hit one of these roadblocks:
1) noticing the insane grind
2) noticing the huge and glaring imbalances
3) noticing the never ending toxicity of some people that try to tell me how i have to play and send deathtreats if i dont follow their exact ruleset

Doubt I would find about it. The only reason I did is because it was free on ps plus in 2018.
I downloaded it because I thought I could be a scary killer and everyone would run away in fear. Fast forward to today I have 4x more hours on survivor.

Probably, yea. There's no game in this genre like it. The closest is VHS, HSH, and ..Propnight. Just knowing this features iconic killers and is supposed to be more in line with the horror theme would intrigue me. Just like the first time, lol.
I'd also have no memory like you said, about all the negatives that come with this game. So..I'd only be excited/interested.

Seeing Trickster, I wouldve been skeptical as to the direction the game wants to go to. I played years before that though, so it's too late now.

Current DBD, even if it was my first time seeing it, would never have the same effect old DBD had when I started playing in 2018.

I really don't know, although I'd like to think so. DBD has so much content in it nowadays it'd be really hard to start. Especially since there's (according to the wiki) 191 perks. Then there's soon to be 26 killers and 29 survivors. The vast majority of which are behind a paywall (or 9000 shards). Then there's a bunch of maps. It'd be pretty overwhelming probably.
One of my friend's friends started playing recently and I realized that a bunch of the terms we say will make no sense at all to a complete beginner. Bloodlust, loop, 99, noed, dead hard (or any other perk). We had to explain what the bloodweb is, teachable perks, what and where the shrine is. What are shards and auric cells? What's the point of devotion? Prestige? I even had to tell her to always go for perks in a bloodweb as she had no clue and was buying random nodes. I bet she still doesn't know about scratchmarks and noise notifications.
There's a whole lot to learn in this game...

Hey do you wanna play this game? It has all these horror icons, like The Shape, Freddy Krueger, Pyramid Head, etc. And an intreseting, original 4v1 style?
or
Hey you wanna play this buggy ass game where you might get ddosed / doxxed with almost no hope of balance, with a wierd ass community with like 5 people who seem reasonable?

Yes, because my memory would be gone. I wouldn't know all of the reasons not to -- I'd have the exact same impression I had when I started.
However, I think I'd probably bail before investing so much money in DLCs and cosmetics. I've found other multiplayer games since DBD that I have more fun with so, if I was picking it up for the first time, now, I'd say, "This is okay, but probably not my favourite," and leave it at that.

I forgot to add my own response to my own question.
If my friend never introduced it too me, I probably would have never even looked at the game because I hate horror.
If they would again, I would probably pick up the game and play it and start to like it, being oblivious to all the scandals and flaws of the company that makes it, but I would like the game none the less.
My questions about that is: Would I still take the same character path as I did? Would I just go use a meta build instead of the non-meta build I run now? Would I play more Killer than I did back when I first started? I will never know so all of these questions go unanswered…

That's a funny question, because I actually started playing in late 2016 but then stopped shortly after and only really started playing the game again 2 years later. So probably yes, but the better question would be if I would come back, so considering the current state of the game, probably not.

Probably? But I only started a few weeks ago. On the other hand, it took me over a year to get around to it (since I tried the Halloween 2020 free weekend and got one terrible game) since I started paying the game some attention, and the past month watching lots of videos, so it would definitely take some time.
And I'm not sure if any of the character powers would entice me as much as Pinhead's did.

That's good to hear. It's on my Wishlist, but I haven't bought it yet. I have the Outlast, Amnesia, and Dead Space series sitting in my Steam library waiting for me. Have you played any of those?

Yes.
However I knew about DBD when it released but waited a very long time to pull the trigger and buy it because its online pvp only. That often involves interacting with the kind of people nobody wants to play with on a regular basis. I generally hate online pvp and mmo in general because of this.
So I don't really recommend dbd to others because really the player base is infected with a horrible collection of sore loser man babies. I'll change that recommendation the day there is a solo player mode.

Absolutely. Reasons below:
1) Because it can be a group PvP game or not
2) Primarily melee
3) adult theme
4) dark graphics
5) good for hanging out with people
6) slow-paced, not twitchy-reaction most of the time
