The Game has become unplayable for killers
There are so many issues right now which are making DbD one of the most unfun games you could play currently, especially for killers. Here's a quick list of things which are adding to the dirtpile which is the killer experience right now.
- Dead Hard still being abused for distance or as Mettle of Man 2.0 due to the hit validation rework.
- Boon Totems (mostly Circle of Healing) invalidating any pressure the killer is applying. Sloppy Butcher in particular is completely worthless now.
- MMR isn't working, survivors still vastly outclass the killer in terms of rank and skill. No hope of winning.
- DDOS attacks crippling the connection of killers. I had that happen to me today, it was absolutely dreadful.
- Recent surge of hackers who keep finding new exploits just to make the game even worse.
- Too many survivor sided maps, trying to down any decent survivor will cost you 2 gens at least.
- Only a handful of viable killers, the rest is borderline unplayable against genrush squads. Nemesis for instance gives survivors an additional health state and speedburst.
Now I haven't experienced the basegame back in 2016 but I dare say we're on our way to reliving the dreadful balance of these days if the devs don't do something about the current state of killers soon. It's truly unplayable.

And forgot to mention the validation on everything the killer does. Can't grab on gens and windows, can't hit through deadhard... But don't bother fixing animations when you get validation, who cares.

I used to mostly main killer but since the Boon patch I find myself playing more and more survivor games than ever as it’s just a more chilled out/ fun experience
playing killer now is incredibly stressful with very little pay off, unless you resort to tunnelling and camping
it’s almost impossible to have a “fair” killer game now where you never tunnel, try and hook everyone in a fair order and try and make the game as fun as possible for everyone. Doing that now is a sure fire way to get 0 kills and teabagged at the exit gate
32 -
It's a bit much to be saying it's not playable for killer. I main wraith and constantly do well with him with the occasional 4 people pro parties that completely smash me. Survivors have certain unfair things for them as well. Try to consider both sides.
2 -
Completely agree, game is just unbearable, even as Survivor. Killer is too stressful and Survivor is too boring
30 -
They were actually on their way to fixing things in the game step by step if you compare it to like two years ago but then they somehow made a giant leap backwards with the addition of Boons lmao.
32 -
I don't find it unplayable, weird that.
5 -
Sloppy Butcher is indeed useless now. Sad, it used to be a decent slow down perk before CoH.
7 -
There's a bit of hyperbole, but I agree with the general points you're trying to get across.
Boons were extremely unhealthy for game in their design. They gutted hit and run play style killers which were generally speaking already the weaker killers in the first place. It gutted slugging which was the most fun tactic to play against out of the alternatives against good survivors. You either camp, tunnel, or slug against good survivors if you want a chance at winning. Now they have to just camp and tunnel everyone.
We buffed DH the best survivor perk in the game..for some reason. This perk and exhaustion perks in general need significant toning down..yet we're getting it buffed. Literal opposite direction.
We made hit validation survivor sided when loops/maps/most things in general are already in their favor...for some reason.
At high mmr we are facing ridiculous amounts of hackers.
They made mmr essentially the same across your killers and without a reset/degrade system making most killers generally speaking unplayable once you reach a certain mmr.
The fact that once you reach a certain mmr you just no longer have fun on that killer as every match is a complete sweat fest.
The majority of maps are very survivor sided but it's been this way forever and has never changed. Why do we still have maps that are completely too large? You got Red Forest? Ormond? Haddonfield? Badham? Your chances of winning are basically non existent unless the survivors are just complete garbage which is even more unlikely now with mmr.
There are too many things in the game that are so unbalanced you will lose regardless of how well you play as killer. That's bad design.
25 -
- Yes, the current DH is completely broken. The 'fake hit' bug and it eating killer powers isn't likely to be fixable and is probably going to mean that DH needs to be balanced around this.
- CoH definitely hard-counters attrition based killers, but that will definitely get a nerf. Otz hasn't been this adamant since OoO.
- MMR works...a lot of the time. I get the occasional Kakfa matchup, but mostly I feel like I'm facing survivors near my skill level. Problems arise when I start winning too much or when the system seems to be offline.
- I think that's lag-switching. I've seen it from time to time. Not much you can do about hackers.
- See above. Report them, that's all you can do.
- This is the key issue with killers right now. Haddonfield needs it's infinite fixed, as does Badham.
- Here I'd disagree. 'Weaker' doesn't mean 'non-viable'.

Yeah I used to think people vastly over exaggerated about how much actual camping/tunneling was going on (and I still stand by that), but now that boons have come out along with some of the other recent changes I have seen a massive increase in camping/tunneling (I'm talking literally staring at the hook) at high mmr. I honestly can't say I blame them, that's what boons and the other recent changes have forced them to do a lot. On average you will net more kills doing that instead of trying to chase someone down. They've basically realized the game is rigged against them so they just essentially decide not to even play it, hence staying at the hook. It's that bad.
The mmr system even rewards them the most for playing this way as well since all it cares about is kills/time.
I still think that at lower mmr you can play normally and still win easily as the survivors there just play bad. I'm specifically referring to higher mmr.

More easily getting tired and frustrated.
I think Killer isn't worth playing except archive challenges now.
Don't mind Boons but can't handle 1,3,5 in current state.
3 -
The game is rigged, but you can't lose if you do not play
2 -
Which is basically why we've seen the uptick in camping/tunneling. The game is balanced to be unviable to play the way they want you to play it. Playing the way they intend relies on survivors making many, many, many mistakes regardless of even if you play perfectly.
11 -
I am only playing the game for the missions right now and I gotta say, page 3 of the tome is the most survivor sided mess I've seen. Hardly any killer missions and the only one I can do right now requires me to get 10 iridescent emblems on any killer. It's borderline impossible given the current conditions.
2 -
Until enough survivors scream "Nurse is unfun to go against" and the devs nerf her again -.-
Seriously when the survivors want something they scream unfun and it's like the "me too" movement.
Boons remind me of 1.9.2 patch. The one where they removed the timing needed to stun a killer during a pick up animation. The people who made this game thought that would be a QoL change. Then they actually had to remove it because it was damn near impossible for killer to pick up anyone.
11 -
It's more playable now than it used to be without SBMM.

For fun one time on The Game as bubba I decided to just follow one person because they insta threw pallets and see what happened. After chainsawing through 22 with great efficiency the gens were done and I got a 1K.
survivor tip on the game = just throw all the pallets.
7 -
I couldnt agree more with you. I'm actually getting annoyed thag there are all these posts saying the game is survivor sided etc and the devs aren't doing anything about it. However if a survivor posts something it's as if they act more on that.

I might have replied to that thread. I said Ive had people DC because they were the first one to be found.

Nurse say nothing to dead hard or if she say something its sorry master XD
2 -
Look at this bs and tell me this is fine:
I only was able to get 2 hooks throughout the whole match on the Cornfields map, that's how broken the current state of the game is. When I finally downed someone during lategame I put them into the basement and what do they do? They insult me for doing the only possible thing at that point. Even going as far to tell me to go play Fortnite after abusing their broken perks and boon totems.
The game is literally unplayable for killers like Nemesis, it takes a miracle to even reach tier 3 on him without farming zombies nonstop. Power role? More like victim role.

Cringe

My matches as killer are exactly like this. Just quit playing killer. This game will be lacking of killers very soon.
13 -
I read the title and thought you were talking about the map.

Both are equally terrible.
1 -
You are not supposed to win every single game, just go in a game and have fun
2 -
The moment you give up caring is the same moment you give up on the game. Surrender is not an option.
The problem is how these type of games make up the vast majority of matches, this can't be normal at all. There need to be drastic changes or else this game will get murdered by the survivor community.
13 -
Explain me, main killer, how can I have fun playing this role, thank you.
Because I feel like I am playing a Pallet breaking simulator instead of the DBD idea.
23 -
but having only 1 viable killer at high mmr is boring, I don't wanna play nurse - I don't find her fun- and the survivors won't enjoy playing against nurses every other game
3 -
I've usually don't usually get involved on the forums of the games I play, but I made an account just to also chime in how terrible it's been to play Killer. I started playing back when it first came out, and got seriously irritated by survivor antics and put the game down until about a month ago when I thought I'd see how things have come along since then.
Honestly? It's the same or worse. Killer still feels unsatisfying, annoying and ultimately a chore to play.
I played a game recently where the survivors would shadow me when I downed someone, crowded around me to make movement difficult and then broke the hook forcing me to drop the survivor. They did this three times before I had enough. Despite what the description box says, the killer has no terrifying presence. They are a mild annoyance at worst. You're constantly running against the clock and every move you make is the wrong one. Do you chase the survivor you just hit, potentially getting looped/palleted/sent on a wild goose chase, or do you cut your losses and watch the survivor heal up, bringing your net gain in that interaction to a solid zero? Meanwhile, 2 gens are done and you've barely gotten a hook, let alone a kill.
I don't like tunneling or camping and I'd like for everyone to have fun, but that usually results in emotes, teabags and general toxicity from survivors when they escape. I'm almost ready to give up on this game again and play something else that I enjoy.

Being a killer in this game is highly stressful right now. I don't want to play a killer i hate playing = nurse just to do well.
I've been maining plague lately since she's a hard counter to boons but even with her i cant keep up with the gen speeds and huge maps. I dont want to play her since she's not the killer i truly love but the killer i truly love cannot keep up.
Now days i feel like its toolbox with brand new parts and at least 1 prove thyself is always in the mix. Also more and more build to last perks are coming into the mix because people just want to get those gens done in 5 minutes.
Is that fun for you survivors? Getting gens done super fast and then writing at the end game chat EZ? Theres nothing we killers can do in short amount of time.
8 -
thats true but only ONE killer out of 23 is ridiculous
1 -
Yes. Look at all the buffs Trickster got, the awesome Resident Evil chapter (except for the initial launch), Hex: Plaything (what a well-designed hex!), and the add-on passes for different killers. But then it went down the drain so fast. Gen speed not addressed, healing speed not addressed, exploits, Boons, hit rollback, multiple undeserved killer nerfs. It's like they're trying to make the game as hard as possible on killer to make up for the fact that they've gotten some alright buffs. I don't think there's any going back either. Boons have changed things; hexes are a dead perk archetype.
9 -
It's rough playing Nemesis, there's no two ways about it. Survivors get a free health state with the tentacle, AND a speed boost, which is ridiculous. Not to mention he has brain dead AI zombies that get hung up on everything, and what's worse is the tentacle is not designed to go through objects like fences or cars. So long as survivors duck they will never get hit. This is why it's worth playing Pyramid Head instead.
1 -
I'm surprised you mentioned several things and you didn't mentioned the worst: PALLET PARADISE, not only the total amount, also the amount of safe pallets.
Before the rework that map was a bit killer sided, but for balancing it a bit, instead of some creative ideas like more mindgamable Jungle Gym rooms like the one in the 1st floor or an "indoor shack" they just threw a bunch of pallets, PreTTy GooD JoB So FaR.
2 -
Based and based pilled.

This thread is right on the nose. The Devs full on abandoned their killer base. It will be detrimental to DbD in the long run, especially with new competitor games coming out.
7 -
Agree with almost everything you say,Ddos is killing the game and the developers are more interested in pumping out cosmetics for their dress up dolls than fixing this the boon totems and MMR as there’s no money in it…
1 -
Well I'd say my 6th point about survivor sided maps should cover that. There are definitely far too many pallets, more than enough to actually get all gens done even if you dropped them all without bothering to loop. That's how many there are.

Translation:
"just be our point piñata and stop complaining"
12 -
I don't agree. I honestly find killer way more enjoyable and survivor unplayable.
0 -
if you played other fps and playing dbd on pc nurse may not takes long to better than most wm1s,
and even that feels good because hits not only from survivors mistakes or maps
0 -
Maybe we need to switch to the survivors, use all meta perks and more boons boons boons?
Fighting fire with fire. Until all bugged, rigged and unfair stuff is nerfed to oblivion...
0 -
I dont play FPS games but i do play on PC. I personally dont like the nurses exhaust animation. Makes me feel sick
1 -
i agree with some points but cmon Nemesis is not a weak killer. Yes he has to build up his power but once he has survivors have literally no ressources left if you're good with his ranged attack. It's a free hit at every vault or pallet if you don't mess up. He is not the strongest of all killers but there are some that have it far worse than him. I see him performing good mostly when i play survivor.
But have you made stats? Is it really the majority? I think with MMR being in place killers have to accept you will only win 50% of your games. Most killers i know won much more before MMR, losing was an exception for me honestly.
0 -
You get 50% winrates? Lucky you. Mine's at 20% at best.
0 -
I encountered one hacker in the last several dozen games and i still can count the amount of clear cheaters on one hand in 2 years.
Dead Hard is the most crucial thing, that should be balanced. It's way too strong for an exhaustion perk. Imagine, you could use sprint burst with one button press.
0 -
i dont know actually, i was having a very bad time at first with my main but the last times i played i won more than i lost
0 -
There's a bloodharvest event going on and I don't even feel like playing. BHVR should seriously do something about these issues, I can't be arsed to play this broken mess anymore.
0 -
I know, there’s pallets everywhere it’s ridiculous.
