Coming Back

So I quit this game around late July. Last I heard, Pinhead was coming to Dead by Daylight, and as someone who loves Hellraiser to pieces, I decided that maybe I'd get back into the game with the purpose of playing as one of my all time favorite characters. But, after coming back to the game, prestiging Pinhead, I now realize the mistake I made in reinstalling this game. The main issue I have with this game is the amount of bugs that there are, at least on my end. But while that is not a real universal subject, I will not be discussing it here.

Seeing survivor boon totems, has made me feel as if the developers are practically taking away the disadvantages survivors have. To me, the survivors were the victims, and should have less advantages than the killer since there are four of them. I just did get back into the game, but after playing for some time again now, I do not see a way to counter boon totems whatsoever. I do play killer, so you may believe I am being biased when I say I believe the game is more survivor sided than killer sided. What I'm trying to say, is that survivors have a plethora of tools and methods to locate totems that the killer has. I go into games where my ruin or devour is gone in about the first thirty seconds. This is not a huge issue since that's what totems should be, is rng related features that are high risk high reward, but my problem comes with how easy it is to locate killer totems with survivor perks, while killers have none of these options available.

I just wish that when I am playing as a killer, I do not feel like I am being constantly bullied by a survivor group that is way higher MMR than me after my break from the game. Killers get turned off by the fact that they never feel like the threat, at least that is what I assume. I'm the same way. Unless I play Blight, Hag, Pinhead or Spirit (I am not a good Nurse), then I at most will get three hooks. I wish I could play my other killers and have fun, but I don't enjoy losing over and over and over again against the same perks, same strategies, and the same rng. I am worse than I used to be, yes. I can always get better, yes. I can play C tier killers and still have fun, yes. But I wish I could win and have fun consistently, instead of getting stomped every game.

Is anyone else having these same feelings about boons, or am I alone in this thought process?

No, no, I think you've accurately grasped the killer zeitgeist around boons.

They're easy to find for people that have memorised totem spots or if you literally walk right up to one, but most of the time it's just "Well I guess one is somewhere on the map" and then you realise it's three floors up or something when walking through a structure and too far away to get.

They're a whack-a-mole hassle that punishes any attritional approaches.

Uninstalled 3x this week and this time I even uninstalled the PC Xbox app as an extra barrier to returning. It's simply too stressful now to play, and rather than keep playing it whilst complaining about it on the forums, I'm going to try and channel my attention and energy into less destructive habits.

Understandable. I'm not exactly complaining on the forums, I'm just genuinely interested in if others share my opinions.

It is a bad time to get into DBD and somehow an even worse time to play Killer.

Sorry, I wasn't at all referring to you there when I mentioned complaining about the forums. I mean myself, I was constantly complaining about the game here, yet still playing it.
