Map Exploits
Hot take, but if you use a map exploit to make yourself invincible and waste people's time you should be perminately banned.

I mean, yea

Of course but i cant wait for the dev to say you just need to pick a range killer and you can hit them XD or if he dont move from the wall just let him bleed out

Anyone been around long enough to remember the Disturbed Ward exploit that got people banned temporarily?
0 -
Exploits are bannable actually in fact, which you can read about it in the Game Rules (click me) - if they give a party an advantage, such as using the one described in the op. I recommend reporting people you believe are exploiting (abusing bugs and errors in design to gain an advantage) and send any additional evidence to support here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

Which map was it on, out of curiosity? A lot of places you can get to as killer and survivor, so while they fix it you still have a workaround for a lot of tiles if someone decides to do it to you.

Was it on Coal Tower?
0 -
I think it's that cart near the gallows on Dead Dawg. You can get up there and the killer won't be able to pick you up.
3 -
I think the killer can get up there? It's a lot more finicky than all other ones sadly
0 -
I've seen people getting up there, but you have to lunge through the hole on the gallows to get a speed boost there, while survivors just need to vault the window to get to it. Definitely something not intentional imo.
0 -
Oh absolutely not. I was just saying there is a work around so you can punish them for doing so while you wait for it to be fixed.
0 -
Oh good, so there's an efficient system in place to actually do something with those reports? Even fog whisperers have said that reporting is useless
0 -
It is bannable technically but reports are basically useless. I wonder if that streamer that was streaming himself cheating is still doing that, haven't checked in a while.

I will clear something up here....the area on the Dead Dawg Saloon that's been discussed in this thread, is not bannable, or reportable so please do not waste supports time in this. The killer can also reach the survivors in this area.
With exploits, we do list on the report page (as linked previously) which ones we ban for.
And yes, people are banned for various cheats/hacks etc - it's just that as we don't allow threads here of that nature, you don't see the complaints and we delete the ones that are here for various reasons. Steam also, we also close threads on this subject.
And whilst you might have heard some streamers say "bhvr doesn't ban cheaters" I'll respectfully remind you, that these people do not know our processes and does not know our team of ACM's who do these bans. It's just a rhetoric that gets thrown around.
EAC gets updated to block cheats, people find a way to get around this, then the updates happen again - it's sadly a vicious circle.

Or maybe just maybe no offense to you Mandy I think you are doing a great job of being pr for bhvr
But people say that you guys don't ban because you don't?
Idk about anyone else but I've consistently faced the same hacker every now and then for the past 4 years he must've racked up thousands of reports cause I've ran into him atleast 15-20 times and I report him every time
He even used to stream on twitch and guess what he's still around hacking
Edit: if your wondering how ik it's the same dude every time I've dm him before and we've actually talked a lot despite his hacks he's a decent real life person he just enjoys ruining others fun

Also what about the spot on Ormond where survivors can dead heard off the second floor and land on that bellhop thingy that they use to carry suitcases in hotels
0 -
Sure, but Mandy - this area is very tricky to reach for certain killers and extremely easy for survivors. It's just a...pain.
0 -
agreed it is a pain, no denying that. It will be fixed in an upcoming patch for sure, we've got acknowledged bug reports in on it.

Thanks. I will say that this game is in a much better state than it was a year ago - hell, I'm even seeing a lot better match quality thanks to MMR as killer (I agree that it should be more nuanced for survivors).
Looking forward to it, and keep up the good work.

I had this happen the other day as spirit. you can in actuality get up there. It took me a bit, but I got it. They thought they were being clever and I just kept trying. I think it has something to do with the vault next to it and then lunging up there.

@GoodBoyKaru it was the salon and on the cart. It wasn't my game I was watching a friend play and he was playing Freddy and the thing was there were two of them. Literally sat there for an hour. He'd use his blood pools to hit one and hit him but then the other person would heal them. Finally waited them out and killed them but still an hour of time wasted on stupid people.

Preventative measures for hacking is tough, I'm sure, with the ever waging war of security that's constantly going on. That said, do you have any plans to improve your reactionary steps to address hackers/cheaters?
From what I understand the reporting process to actually get someone banned from the user's perspective is:
- Have a recording device active before the game, or ready during the game
- Capture and reference the offender cheating on your recording device
- Ensure the offender's name is clear on the video
- Upload video to online media site for sharing
- Report the offender in-game
- Login to DBD's support site that I'd argue few know about
- Create support ticket attaching support documentation
- Get minimal feedback on the outcome of the report
This process seems lengthy, complicated, and places a large burden on the actual user trying to play for fun. Not to mention the minimal direct feedback on ban outcomes can be discouraging on top of all of that. This discouraging process can be worsened further if it's still possible for the hacker to take over the in-game report system and leave the user nasty or threatening messages when they try to use the in-game report function.
In addition to the complexity and burden on the user, people don't really know about this process either like you just said. Even if they did though, I'd argue no one really wants to do this every time they see a hacker since it's just so darn tedious and unsatisfactory.

Can you still Dead Hard out of RCPD?
0 -
For killers trying to get on the wagon on Dead Dawg go to the bottom right of it and just shimmy your way up. Keep moving up it but be moving side to side. The trick is getting high enough on the wagon side that when you come back down you skip along some collision and hop onto it. I would say its necessary knowledge with the number of survivors that have tried to be pricks by using the bug.

wait, you're saying this specific exploit isn't bannable because killer can get up there? HOW? I tried for a long time, both from the top and the bottom and couldn't do it.
1 -
Wait for EGC lol
0 -
is there a video of this somewhere? I've found youtube videos showing survivors getting up there, but not killer.
0 -
Only if the gen there is done. If the trapdoors are closed youre #########.
0 -
the gen has to be done lunged acrosss the trapdoors torwards the vualt so that you trip over the lil triangle supporting the gallow and youll end up on the fence,
0 -
Not saying I'm mad or anything but I love how my one post about a actual exploit survivors need dead hard to get to was ignored 😂
0 -
There's also a spot on Haddonfield. Near one of the high fences I couldn't pick up a Nancy for some reason. Luckily I was playing PH and still could send her to a cage

You dont need to vault the window or do any skillful play to get on that dead doggo cart. You go to the bottom right corner of it (at ground level) and get on it like you would rocks at Ormond (killer or survivor). Its as easy as jumping onto the bar in the saloon basically.

Such a brilliant solution, thanks !

I figured it out and made my own video. :)
Hope this gets fixed in the next patch; without research killers have no idea how to get up there, and survivors are totally safe.
1 -
you guys could just hit the killswitch on this map until its fixed since a lot of people don't know how to get up there as killer and it wastes considerable time. You yourself have said you like quick matches and to get to the next one. This is preventing that.
1 -
I didn't even know about that spot in Dead Dawg Saloon, but a couple of days ago I had a friend of mine trapped inside a room because a Wraith was bodyblocking the only way in or out of that place. A waste of time honestly, I guess that map is full of surprises

Found another bloody 'survivor cannot be picked up by killer but can be healed from' spot on Disturbed Ward today. Not going to say anything more as it's really easy to abuse and spawns every game, in a spot where you can almost always reach.
Frustrating.

Assuming this was reported to support or at least a bug report on the forums made if one didnt already exist?
0 -
Killer exploits from back then: banable offense!!!
Survivor exploits like maps perks etc: only banned in 1 occasion tee hee!!.
In bhvr's words, exploit all you want if both sides can do it
2 -
Yo, idk of the devs know this but you can get out of any map by hacking. Id say its against the rules to do this but its still in the game so? Must be fine.
1 -
Yeah I made a bug report after the match and reported the dude, but can't even find anecdotal evidence of people being banned for this stuff.
Still annoying.
