Not sure, but I think you missed the meaning of the Holiday.

From what I've gathered as an outside observer: being forced into contact with people you want nothing to do with, ostensibly with a lavish celebration that's often badly done, and being miserable?
I guess this BP weekend is right in the spirit of things then!

im more or less bummed that I get to deal with swfs the entire bloodhunt. So much fun to just get a bunch of 3-4 man escapes.

Well, Thanksgiving, at is core, is about giving Thanks for all one has as an individual as well a community.
Sounds like you have observed some questionable situations.
Glad I do not have similar experiences

Sorry you are not having fun. Hope your games get better

I'm not American, the true meaning of your turkey day is all a bizarre joke to me.
I just know that a lot of people seem to really abhor thanksgiving dinners. You know, the joke I was making.

As an American History teacher, few in America really understand the truth of the holiday.
It was enacted by Abraham Lincoln, a day of thanks, in 1863 after the Civil War looked to finally be winnable.
The pilgrims and turkey ######### is BS.

Well I got to see Ghostbusters so Thanksgiving was very beautiful and emotional for me. DBD would definitely have screwed it up though. Poopy game.

Hah!
Eh...Thanksgiving is a really complicated phenomenon (like...basically every other 'holiday') and yes, it's origins are debated. From my understanding, Lincoln affixed it to a specific date, but it was observed widely before then, with the dates and customs differing slightly from state to state. It was later altered again with the hopes of providing an economic boost.
To some, it's a harvest festival. To others, it has a religious or historical significance.
But for most people, it's just a time for you and your loved ones to eat an enormous amount of food and get into heated political debates with that one uncle (everyone has that one uncle - and sometimes I'm that uncle too).

Been here since 16 and was around for that as well. I just can't wait to leave California in the next year so I'm not in a highly dense populated area with more odds to go against SWF.

No, he proclaimed it a National Holiday, days of Thanksgiving were had, in different places, but the orgin of the current Holiday stem from Lincoln. Who mentions nothing of the pilgrims.

I’ve been playing mostly survivor. Bps are good. Try it out. Might like the gains.

With these queue times, it might technically be faster to play survivor. The big problem is BBQ versus, whatever the survivor one is.

Eh, tomato, topoloday.
The celebration itself predates it significantly and was definitely widely observed before.
Lincoln made it more of an 'officially' codified national-level holiday rather than something that drew it's character more from specific states.

No, the celebration referred to by the pilgrims was a harvest celebration that originated in Europe. There is no evidence, that native Americans were even invited.
Days of Thanksgiving did indeed predate Lincolns holiday, but had nothing to do with the Pilgrims, except religion.

True even games I'm getting my ass kicked I'm getting at least 100k bp per game.

Ah, we're talking past each other here.
I'm referring to the latter, you are referring to the former.
Regarding the actual 'first Thanksgiving' narrative, it's one of those things where we'll never know the truth. History doesn't break down easily into black and white, and applying modern moralities to it and then bickering is seldom productive.
As it stands, it's just a fan day we all get to enjoy together.
