I am in love with the new perk Overcome
It's such a great and fun perk to use that I don't think I can take it off. I just love the distance I can get from it. I used it in Mettle Of Man build and it's not bad. I swear it and circle of healing makes it viable.

Terribly designed perk with no counterplay that encourages holding w. Hope is gets removed along with dead hard soon.

Yeah that’s part of the reason I wish the perk never existed in the first place. Not a fan of completely reworking perks or killers because people may like their current design. That’s why reworking Freddy was a huge mistake. Feel bad for @GeneralV :(

As mentioned above, it came with a killer that essentially forces you to hold W anyways. So what's the problem?

I'll never understand people stigmatising 'Holding W' aka running away from the killer
I get why people dislike it, why they think it's unfair or "has no counterplay" but the thing that enables survivors to do it (Post hit speed boost) has been in the game since the very beginning I believe and the maps have only (more or less) gotten a bit more balanced over the years
Here's a question for you people who hate 'W holders'. What do you want them to do? Commit to the closest loop? Waste their speed boost on an animation lock (Which a lot of the killers punish heavily)? Like what do you want?
imo the real problem isn't holding W, it's that chases can take too long making committing not worth it but sometimes you have no other option. It's a lose lose

You're a fan of... holding W...? Don't get me wrong its a great perk, but i fail to see how anybody would enjoy the perk. Compared to the joy of outplaying a killer with lithe, or head on, or deadhard, overcome has no tangible dopamine hit. Its very boring.

I personally think the problem is map design. On maps like Coal Tower, Rancid Abbatoir, Wrecker's Yard etc holding W will eventually led the killer to your teammates who are doing gens, so looping on those maps is usually the better choice. It's not really the survivors players to blame.

I guess I just like keeping distance between me and the killer. Imo don't think holding w is boring. In fact I think boring is not really a good word to describe anything in dbd

A completely fair response, I agree with you. Maps are at least partially to blame for the playstyle becoming more prevalent.

Ok, thats fair lol. But you get what im saying, theres a tangible thing you do that makes you feel like the perk has impact. Lithe lets you get away from a loop safely, Head on lets you stun the killer, dead hard lets you dodge a whole heap of stuff, etc. Overcome just makes you sprint burst on hit. It doesn't even have the potential strategy of actual sprint burst, you just kinda... go faster in whatever direction you think wastes the most time. Thats it.

To me, it's an anti-deadzone perk in a similar vein to Sprint Burst. The problem with Sprint Burst is that it's easily wasted by smart killers who know you have it. With Overcome, the killer has to hit you for it to go off which is why I think it's a solid perk because it activates when you will likely need it the most
Same with good ol' dead hard.

As a hater of "W Holders", survivors committing to the closest loop is exactly what I wish to see.
I am from a time when the absolute majority of the cast could be looped in the regular manner.
And I would've liked if it had stayed that way.
But then again, that is just me.

The playstyle you mentioned has only gotten harder with the invent of our favourite anti-loop killers who punish animation locks the hardest but if you find that the more engaging thing to see then I can respect that for sure

Its a literal S tier perk in terms of usefulness. Its an F tier perk for game health.
Getting hit now turns into you drop chase and get a free heal. It's actually better than dead hard on most maps anyways.
I really don't get how someone thought it was okay to allow a longer on demand sprint burst to exist in a game that already has issues.

Its mostly because there are very few killers who can effectively deal with the "Hold W" meta, because anything other then a short chase allows the survivor's teammates to smash out gens. And now that CoH is super meta, applying pressure is no longer a viable option, as that pressure is almost instantly taken away by ultra fast heals. Killers either let the survivor go after the first hit, thus allowing the survivor with "overcome" to easily make it to CoH and remove what little pressure the killer made, or we have to commit to a long chase with a survivor who has "overcome" to prevent this, thus allowing for gens to get done ridiculously fast. Its the definition of a lose lose situation.
However, there were killers who actually could deal with the "Hold W" meta, and survivors complained about them endlessly untill they were nerfed into the ground. Nurse could, and still can in the hands of some, deal with the "Hold W" meta, and she was hit in the face with a sledgehammer, addon-wise. Billy could deal with it, untill he was gutted. Spirit could deal with it, but she was hit fairly hard recently. And now, survivors are complaining about how The Blight is "unfun" to play against. So he's likely next for the nerf firing squad
Even if you disagree with me, which is fine, I hope that you can understand that Overcome takes a killer's already stressful life, and makes it so much harder.

The issue here is distance gains after a hit. It's already good enough. Survivors get so much distance after a hit. If it's a hit at a shack or a building with good window RNG then the distance gives at least another 25 seconds of chase at loops.
I'm just trying to understand why the devs felt the need to give twice as much distance now and make it a perk?
For every boost Survivors get, it's one more notch off the belt for any and almost all M1 killers. That's the issue.
It sucks when perks come out, and half the killers are smashes into the dirt even harder. We want to play all killers. Not a select few to be able to keep up with these new builds.

And yet, it'll be used more than most exhaustion perks because it's more controllable. Lithe and Balanced either cause you to go out of your way to avoid using them needlessly or you end up wasting them. Sprint burst most of the time requires you to walk... Or waste it. The only other perks that are more in your control are Headon, which is unreliable with how laggy the servers are, and dead hard which... Same as above.
Always getting your exhaustion perk to work when it's useful is the main reason this perk will be run. I know it was my first thought when I saw it. Yay, one that's reliable!

With the amount of recent killers that basically force you to hold W, or die. then yeah

The problem is that holding w after a hit is a minimum of 20 seconds to catch up and get the second hit assuming they run straight and don't stop. Now you can take that 20 almost and connect it to shack whit pallet. Thats not even adding the time to find a survivor and get the first hit. For a killer to have any chance of winning he need to only spend 40 seconds max on a down against good survivors or its a bad chase.
W has almost 0 counter out of a few killer and SBFL and the latter might not even get enough stack in time to be useful in alot 9f cases.
The thing that I hate the most about it to is is completely non interactive. The whole point of this game been multi-player is the survivor killer interaction other wise is a one button gen sim.

Actually, because it's more versatile because you can control it. You don't have to avoid dropping off of any half inch ledge or rock. You don't have to waste it vaulting the wrong window at the wrong time.
You don't need to find specific star-aligning conditions for it to be useful or worry about lag. It just works. Unlike Bethesda games.

I do wonder how many times so far have you run into a insta down killer or got tunneled of hook where overcome is a dead perk?

It requires zero skill to do. Like it can be done by a salt shaker on the W key and a drinking bird toy to hit space bar now and then. The issue is it's too good and what is the point of learning to loop or anything when I am wasting more of the killers time and thus contributing more, by just holding W? And unless against certain killers, there's no way you're going to somehow mess up and go down early like you might at a loop. My issue is it invalidates survivor skill. You know how to loop? Cool. I know how to hold W and press space at the colored wood pieces, and that is more effective, more helpful to the team, and uses more time than actually looping. Usually people want games to be skillful and not lack any skill.
So what do I want them to do? Get good at looping and do that, and to make W holding objectively worse than looping, rather than better than looping. On a lot of maps vs M1 killers it's a better choice to just mindlessly hold W over utilizing skill and mind games to win a chase. I'm unsure how you cannot get why people find that boring and unrewarding.
