I refuse to use Amanda's Letter until it gets buffed
For those of you who didn't know about this Pig add-on, Amanda's Letter before the nerf gave you 12 meters of aura reading while crouched, kinda like All-Seeing Blood, but it took away 3 head traps from you as a downside. Why does this feel-good yet ultimately mediocre effect have such a huuuge downside? But that's not the best part!
When the add-on pass happened and she got a bunch of her add-ons changed, they DIDN'T Buff this add-on so that it still took away 3 of your bear traps, I kid you not! Sure, she now has 16 meters of aura reading with this add-on, but 1 head trap, seriously?! And you still have to crouch to get use out of this.
Crouching isn't even that useful. You have to run 2 crouch add-ons in conjunction before you even thinking about using it, because otherwise you'd be shooting yourself in the foot. Because her base crouch didn't get buffed at all, we still have to use add-ons to MAKE UP for how bad her crouch is.
So these types of add-ons for Pig tell me one thing: You either focus on having good head traps or focus on getting a better crouch, because I don't need to tell you twice, you sure ain't getting both. It is the bag dilemma with Trapper all over again. The Windstorm dilemma with Wraith all over again.
I would at least expect that this add-on doesn't get a downside because you're having to crouch, which is leagues worse than Wraith with All-Seeing because you're actually fast with that. But no, we get another awful pink add-on that has massive downsides for no good reason.

There are several addons that are just 'what?' levels of bad.
Pig has a disproportionately large number of these. I sometimes wonder if the devs just intend for her to be a meme killer forever.

It has always removed 3 Bear Traps. It still does but now it spawns 4 boxes instead of the two it had before, and the aura reading is larger.
Even then it's laughable. This addon isn't good enough to warrant your entire lower. Wraith and Blight have similar addons without downside, so Pig's also shouldn't.

Speaking of which, almost half the ultra rares in the game could have their negative effects removed entirely and they'd be perfectly fine. Most the negative effects on them are just so unnecessary which is why most killers best addons aren't their ultra rares (but they should be).
If our argument is going to be that the ultra rares are supposed to just be game changing and not strong then they shouldn't in fact be ultra rares anymore. The ultra rarity was originally put in place because they were supposed to be strong effects.

Ultra-rare add-on aren't the best because they don't know what is valuable for a killer power. Take latest killer which is Artist. What would be a valuable ultra-rare add-on for her ability? 4 second instant down and undetectable when getting swarmed certainly is not it.
A good add-on for her would be that she can injure survivors with her ranged ability without survivor needing to be swarmed. Her other complementary add-on could be that her charge time when placing crows is tremendously(50%) reduced so you can place crow and fire rapidly, maybe add-on also removed that 0.5 second cooldown between placing crows.
Most of artist add-ons seem heavily rushed.
Amanda letter can be used with her Video tape where you can both her traps and aura reading, but issue is that Pig's m/s crouch is heavily under-powered and same can be said about ambush dash. I would also say that even her traps right now are too underwhelming for slowdown. 4 base box is too much rng. she could use 5th box to mitigate the remove headtrap in 1 box problem.
But as we all know, they only look at stats and since pig was like 2nd best killer by killrates, she won't change.

Man, the Pig add-on re-work is such a disappointment to me. She still has so many add-ons that are gutter trash, and the one add-on that caught my eye (new Video Tape) isn't even that good and is just an enabler of grief-y gameplay similar to when Amanda's Letter enabled the Pig to force a 50/50 kill.

Yeah it's truly an abysmal add on. Other, STRONGER killers get the same effect on lower cost add ons with absolutely no downside, Pig gets aura reding at the cost of 75% of the value of her power. It's a joke.
Sadly, the devs largely don't seem to care that Pig has mostly trash add ons, and that people largely only use ones like Combat Straps and whatever they put the old video tape's effects onto, as they basically band aid the gaping flaws in her ambush, they just care that your bloodpoints are drained by worthless webs.

Just don't use Amanda's Secret then? Aura reading is powerful and iridescent add-ons with powerful effects should have some sort of downside.
If they were to buff it somehow I think giving her an extra trap (Two total) would be fair.
I still want base kit buffs to her more than anything (A reduced TR and base Crouch/Uncrouch speed buffed) more than anymore add-on changes.

I agree. Pig has been one of my main killers since her release. I can usually do well with her, but I do think she needs some buffs to make her stronger and more fun to play. I doubt we’ll get any if I’m being honest.

Why should some aura reading make her have less traps? Should Trapper's one add-on have a downside because he gets to see someone's aura? I meant c'mon.

Because her traps are lethal and aura reading like that could help her camp/tunnel people trying to get their traps off which is a pretty nasty playstyle for Pig players to employ.

Why are you choosing to view any advantage that the killer has as a way to tunnel or camp more? If they're stronger, they don't need to tunnel and camp to get kills. Right now, most do.
