Vriska Serket (Homestuck) - Survivor Perks

Now, Homestuck is not very likely to be added to DBD as a full license. Maybe some licensed cosmetics, but that's probably about as much as BHVR would want to implement. With that being said, though, it's always fun to speculate!

My pick for what survivor should be brought into the game would be Vriska Serket- though there are some backups I might whip up some perk concepts for later. Since Vriska has a lot of experience surviving brutal environments and the manipulations of forces beyond comprehension, and since she has such a strong reputation aesthetic to draw from, I think coming up with perks for her is far from an impossibility. Here's what I have so far:

  • Spider8ite!: You always know how to be the centre of attention, for good reasons or bad. Each time after you are hooked, the Killer cannot read auras through any means for 6/7/8 seconds.
  • Vision Eightfold: You're used to babysitting your teammates. Whenever you read an aura through any means, that aura is also shown to your teammates for 1/1.5/2 seconds. This effect has a cooldown of 20 seconds.
  • Unfair Advantage: You've played the game enough to know where the exploits are, and you aren't afraid to use them. When you are in the Struggle Phase, press the Active Ability button to free yourself from the hook without assistance. After freeing yourself, you are Broken for 55/50/45 seconds and your grunts of pain are louder for the same duration.


Note: The cooldown on Vision Eightfold is to prevent someone from tapping a map or Clairvoyance for effectively permanent team-wide aura reading.

I'm curious to know what people think, or if anyone has better ideas for a Vriska perk if they're familiar with her character!

    Damn, 2 Homestuck concepts within a day of eachother, what are the odds? Also, really pog stuff! Vriska is a pretty good choice.

    There was one for Jack yesterday (full disclosure, it's mine. but it did really surprise me that there were 2 Homestuck concepts within days of each other, let alone 2 total at all)

    Ngl, never expected to see homestuck content on the forums. It is pretty fun to take characters you know from other shows and see how they would adapt into this game, even if they stand no chance at all of actually getting in, for one reason or another.

    I like the concepts of the perks for sure, they're very in character for vriska. I'd do a little tweaking to some of them though. With spider8ite, that period of time essentially makes it a counter to just BBQ. I feel it'd be a really cool perk if the killer couldn't read auras for the entire time they were on the hook. What the adjustable variable for different tiers would be then, I'm not sure though. Vision Eightfold I think is good the way it is. Unfair Advantage, while very in character is definitely too strong. Being able to unhook yourself is a very strong effect, just look at Deliverance. And of course, deliverance has a condition you need to meet before you can use it, and Unfair Advantage should have some sort of activation condition too.

    Honestly, perk tiers make coming up with new perks difficult because there has to be some scaling adjustable number, and while I do like the idea of making Spider8ite last the length of the hook, you're right- how would we scale that for perk tiers lol

    As for Unfair Advantage, I don't dislike the idea of giving it an activation requirement, I just wasn't quite sure what to make it. I wouldn't want to make it a safe unhook because then it'd just be Deliverance 2... maybe 80% total generator progress so you can't just cheese unhook yourself without contributing to the match? It should probably be self-based rather than altruism-based due to the character it's associated with, certainly.

    Yeah, that's one of the reasons I'm for the idea of removing perk tiers, it would give some added flexibility to perk creation by not requiring that a certain part of the perk be adjustable.

    I agree with your thoughts on the activation requirements for Unfair Advantage, making the activation requirement something less altruistic would be very in character for Vriska.
