My opinion on every killer at the moment
This isn’t a tier list but just my overall thoughts on all 26 killers in DBD
Trapper: I like trapper a lot right now. He is very fun to play as and fun to fight against. My only issue with him is how much the game encourages basement trapper. I’d rather give trapper the means to set up his traps around the map quicker. His lore is fairly boring but not the worst
Wraith: I don’t really enjoy playing wraith tbh. His kit is simple and doesn’t have much of a skill ceiling. I think he’s a good spot right now though barring the unnecessary nerf to his post cloak speed boost. Wraiths archive is definitely one of the best and adds to his short base lore perfectly
Hillbilly: What a shame. I enjoy playing billy but it feels like all the effort you put into him is wasted when the reward isn’t even that good. It is still very satisfying to hit curves though and he is my favourite of the OG killers. His lore is probably the best of the OG killers and is almost a reversed version of the killer he is based on which is cool.
Nurse: I ######### hate this killer with every fabric of my being. She ignores everything that makes looping fun to me and everyone who plays her acts like they are in a tournament. Doesn’t help that the devs thought she needed triple blink back. Her lore is boring to me as well
Myers: Myers is what every licensed killer should be imo. He invokes the essence of Myers as a character and there’s a reason he’s still popular despite him being weak. I personally don’t enjoy playing him though because his power feels very too basic for me to enjoy it
Hag: Hag is a weird one. Her playstyle is so different from most killers that it is just inherently unfun to a lot of people. As for me I enjoy her decently though I rarely play her. She definitely needs some form of anti camping measures though. Hag’s lore is a complete mess that not even BHVR understands
Doctor: I feel I’m one of the few who doesn’t mind playing against doctor. I never really try to be stealthy so his tracking doesn’t bother me and his anti loop while annoying wastes a lot of time on his end to get the hit. As for playing him I don’t hate it but if I want anti loop I’ll just play clown. His lore is solid and I enjoy how the brought the elements of Chinese doctor Yang Yongxin and MK ultra/CIA experiments into his character.
Huntress: Probably the best designed killer BHVR has made. She has counterplay from survivors but the chase is still in the huntress’ control. She feels fun to play but I suck with her. Only thing I’d change is make her hitboxes a bit more accurate. Huntress’ lore is pretty cool and I like how they brought some Russian folklore into her character with the lullaby she hums
Bubba: I like Bubba a lot actually. He’s fun to fight (so long as he isn’t facecamping) and is fun to play. He’s the perfect beginner killer but also has a deceptively high skill ceiling. Like Myers he perfectly invokes Bubba as a character and I wouldn’t really change him at all. His lore is also an interesting look into bubba’s mind
Freddy: Probably the saddest killer in the game at the moment. What was once probably the most accurate licensed killer is now just a boring shell of what he used to be. If anyone here genuinely likes new Freddy I’d love to hear why because I can’t think of any reason anyone would want him over the old one. I’m not mentioning licensed lore for the most part but Freddy’s is worth mentioning since it’s kinda a mini sequel to the film and is pretty well written. Give it a read if you haven’t already
Pig: I hate this killer. Her power is essentially just rng with very mediocre anti loop and downright terrible stealth. All the boop the snoot jokes are painfully unfunny and as someone who has never watched saw I don’t have any connection to Amanda as a character. Also I still have nightmares about tampered timer and crate of gears.
Clown: My main since 2019 and my favourite killer of all time. Clown on the surface seems simple but when you start playing him more complexity in his power starts to show. A lot of people like to rag on his rework but I think it’s great. It gave him more anti loop and a higher skill ceiling with the opportunity for survivors to turn his power against him. Playing each loop as him feels unique and I feel like I’m learning a new bottle placement each match. His lore is very good and his archive combines comedy and horror in the way a clown killer should.
Spirit: Spirit is actually in a mostly good spot now. She’s still very strong but now leaves room for survivors to make meaningful decisions. I still don’t enjoy playing her but fighting against her isn’t a chore anymore. Props to all the people who stuck with her. Spirit’s lore is decent though I haven’t read her archive yet
Legion: Probably the second most boring killer. Legions power feels like a half finished PTB version and their lore is pretty boring too. I really don’t have anything else to say
Plague: Plague is a great killer at the moment and my first P3 killer. The buffs were very nice and she has a steep learning curve without feeling unfair to either side. Her vomit hitbox could do with a bit of work though but otherwise she’s perfect. Her lore is some of the best written by BHVR and I love how the entity has a strong connection to her
Ghostface: Since Ghostface is supposedly getting changes soon I’ll keep this brief. Ghostface is just kinda boring to me. He’s very similar to Myers but his power cooldown makes him annoying to play as. His add ons are garbage too. His lore is actually really good though and could make for a great scream film using Danny’s character
Demo: Demo is another great killer. He’s very fun to play and feels like a jack of all trades master of none. Too bad we’ll be seeing less of him :(. I like how versatile he is and I feel like any perk build works on him.
Oni: Oni from a lore/design standpoint is BHVR’s best work bar none. His lore is the best written imo and his design conveys his power perfectly. Speaking of his power it’s one of my favourites in the game. It has a high skill ceiling but can end a game in 1 use if played correctly. Now that topknot is nerfed I really have no complaints good job BHVR!
Deathslinger: I’m just sad about what happened here. I’m not going to say I enjoyed fighting deathslinger but I would revert it just so slinger mains could actually have fun again. He feels clunky as hell and like you’re playing in slow motion at all times. Everything from his cooldown, reload, aiming and general speed is just slow. Not to mention his skill ceiling is insane for little reward. At least his lore/aesthetic is my favourite of any killer (yes even more than clown).
Pyramid head: I don’t really care too much about PH. His ability to tunnel is annoying but his POTD is a fairly fun chase power. I think it could be worth testing hook perks working on PH just to see how it would work.
Blight: Probably the last great killer we’ve got. Blight fits into the lore of DBD perfectly and his power feels very natural to him. His add ons could do with some rebalancing though especially Alchemist ring. I don’t play him because I don’t want to invest so much time to get good with him but I respect anyone who does.
Twins: I’m going to be crucified for this but I actually like twins a lot. They are a very unique concept so i give BHVR a bit of leeway in their issues. They are very fun to play as when things go your way but certain Perks make their life a living hell. COH and exponential especially hurt them and make it essentially impossible to play them. BHVR’s neglect for them hurts a lot though especially in the cosmetics department (literally 1 set in a year).
Trickster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5MzhjswDmo (I’m not talking about trickster players only the character himself)
Nemesis: The most boring killer to date. How could they turn such a cool character with so many different abilities into such a boring one with a generic anti loop power. God I feel like I’m turning into Darktyrant
Pinhead: Pinhead is just fine imo. He gets the job done and is pretty accurate to his source material. He has a good skill ceiling and his power is pretty unique. The rng on his box can be annoying though especially in solo queue when your teammates make it into the “how long you can survive the chain hunt” game
Artist: Meh. She’s another anti loop killer with an info gimmick. I don’t hate her she just feels like more of the same. Her lore isn’t helping when it’s essentially just every female killers lore X10
And that’s it. I’d love to hear your opinions on any of the killers as well!

Very nice write up amd insight. I might write my own, once I am finished with work.

Blight and Huntress are great killers? Sure buddy

Assume a non-mention is an agreement.
Trapper - Yes. Far too many killers have a kit that essentially feels like 'this is designed for camping'. Trapper's big problem is RNG on trap spawns and setup time on some maps.
Wraith - The nerf was entirely unneeded. CoH and the adjustment to All Seeing would have brought him down significantly. Now he feels awful to play.
Nurse - She needs a complete teardown overhaul. In 4/5 matches, she gets rolled. Then you get the 1000 hour Nurse that is unstoppable. She's too streaky, difficult to learn and almost impossible to counter once you master her.
Hag - People overrate her (me included). Back in the day, she was a monster. Now...people know how to play around her, to set off traps safely and to abuse her immobility. Her addons are also bleh.
Doctor - Badly needs an addon pass. Far too many are funky, but useless. His shocks need their validation adjusted because they just totally fail to work 1/3 of the time.
Bubba - Another teardown job. If you aren't camping, you'd better hope you are crazy good, survivors forget how to abuse vaults and you don't get the wrong map.
Pig - She'd be so easy to fix by simply reducing her terror radius to 24 and fixing her addons which tend to be frustrating RNG gimmicks that either do nothing or straight up kill people because they got unlucky. Her crouch/lunge ones should be made baseline.
Plague - Blindingly perfect killer, should be the balance target for all killers.
Demo - So close to being great. Against random groups he's astonishingly fun - but wow can he get rolled when you face survivors that know what they are doing. Shreds are too telegraphed and way too easy to juke. If they increased the 'speed' of shreds and maybe souped up some of his crappier addons (0.5 seconds added to undetectable as a green addon feels like a typo) he'd be perfect.
PH - Good kit, desperately needs a complete addon rework though. Most of them are boring or borderline useless.
Trickster - Massive waste of potential. He doesn't feel 'tricky', and also feels like he wandered in from an entirely different genre of games. His kit is literally impossible to balance, and people hate playing against him.
Nemesis - Give him a third zombie.
Cenobite - Badly needs some help somewhere in his basekit (making chains not useless indoors would be a great start). His addon nerfs were absolutely nuts, leaving the one problematic addon mostly intact and nerfing all the fun ones to the ground. He's a great pubstomper but falls over on certain maps versus decent groups.
Artist - I really like her, but she's just...clunky. All the hitching reminds me of pre-rework Plague. Her purple and iri addons feel like an afterthought and need to be completely reworked.

Your opinion on Freddy is a painful truth .

Honestly, we have very similar opinions when it comes to killers, only exception is Trapper and Trickster
Trapper I like to play, was my first killer I P3'd back in early 2018, but versing? I swear to god, I might as well spawn with a trap already on my foot
Trickster I like because of his aesthethic and just how unique he is, his look, his sound design, his lore, all great imo and just to be clear Im not really a fan of kpop, I dont mind the music but Ive never went out of my way to listen to it. That first day of the PTB when I saw that lobby and heard that theme tho... Ill always remember that
His gameplay could definitely use some improvements, honestly that teaser they showed of the music player replaying was REALLY misleading and apart from him being a music artist I have no idea how thats supposed to tie into anything.

I can agree with these. Giving nemesis a third zombie won’t fix his problems though and only excemplify the rng nature of zombies
0 -
Yep they are
2 -
Pinhead might be fine if his addons did anything or his power didn't have the hilarious combo of "you walking towards them will break a chain" and "one of the chains spawns from the portal that is generally between you and the surv".
Concept is fine, controls are fine, but in practice box-protecting has been shot, and how meaningless the majority of his addons are has become really clear.
3 -
Rather than giving him a third zombie (which I'm given to understand was initially the plan but had insurmountable issues implementing, which is a shame), what I'd do for Nemesis is overhaul the pathing AI for the two we have and dramatically overhaul the zombie-related addons. Most of his other ones are fine (with glaring exceptions), but the zombie ones are just... underwhelming.
Speed is nice, as is detection cone, but the iri is really underwhelming and the purples aren't much better. I really want to like the Depleted Ink Ribbon because its theming is spot on perfect, probably the best themed addon in the game, but the actual effect is... pretty RNG. I'd have it instantly kill + respawn both zombies as soon as the last generator is complete, one in each gate, have it be more of a guarantee since it's such a late-game addon. His iri needs an overhaul- my suggested fix is to make it a permanent speed boost for each generator completed that scales, though obviously the % would be brought down a lot for each completion lol. Also, maybe toy with making Zombie hits count as basic attacks? That seems like a funky idea for an iri addon imo.

I respect your respect :)

Pinhead feels like more RNG than pig for me...
0 -
Pinhead has RNG, especially if you are going for the 'find the box first' gimmick with LP. But it's not overwhelming unless survivors misplay and you are able to chain hunts together. He also has a lot of map dependency - certain maps turn him into essentially an M1 killer.
Pig's RNG is worse, as with certain addons a match can be a 3k within 5 minutes of starting or a 4-out depending entirely on where boxes spawn and which ones survivors go to first. It's unfun to play and play against.

You really think old Freddy with pulling people into dream was better than current Freddy? I can tell you are a clown main if you think clown has better anti loop than doctor.
Relax im kidding lol. People are allowed to have different opinion's. I for one find clown very underwhelming and wraith super fun. Mad respect to you for maining everyone's favorite bottle wanker
1 -
I would argue about unfun to play.
I enjoy watching survivor's head explode.
0 -
It can be satisfying, sure - but I'm very much the sort of person that when I win I prefer it being a matter of me playing better than my opponent and not them rolling a 1. Ditto, I don't mind losing games where I go 'yeah, if I'd done x rather than y that would have been different' but the games were it feels like I had no chance, or were a matter of 'yeah, I picked the wrong killer for this map' are a motivation killer.
It's probably because I was a Starcraft 2 demon for many, many years.

Yes I do. New Freddy is still really weak and way more boring. Old Freddy had a very unique playstyle that could be mastered while new Freddy can be mastered in 2 games

Trapper: I don't mind playing Trapper, other than that it always feels like it's a little too much time involved having to pick up his traps around the map. I kind of wish he could just grab traps out of lockers, and if he did then the oldest trap he previously placed would be removed. It is what it is though.
Wraith: I like Wraith well enough. I don't play him enough to really notice the difference with his lunge distance, but he seems about the same more or less. I like his speed while cloaked but since he's not actually invisible good survivors can still see him coming if they have line of sight on him, and of course Spine Chill also still can make it harder on him.
Hillbilly: I've never particularly liked Hillbilly much. Hitting with his chainsaw feels awkward, and while he can sprint around the map really quickly his terrible turn rate makes it a bit cumbersome if you're not on an outdoor map. (Good luck chainsaw sprinting long distances on most of RCPD for instance!) Basically if I felt like running around the map at high speed I'd prefer Blight, and if I wanted to chainsaw people down I'd play Bubba. Hillbilly is like a less fun version of those.
Nurse: Nurse is the only killer I actively never play because I find her wheezing stun so unbelievably annoying. How in the world the devs could think that staring at your feet for 1/3 of the match could be a fun balancing mechanism is beyond me. I even intentionally keep the Nurse daily mission on my log unfinished just so it never comes up again. If someday they revamp her to at least allow her to still keep her head up while she's stunned after a blink then I'll reconsider playing her, until then forget it.
Myers: Meyers base Evil ability isn't my favorite, but I love all his variant playstyle add-ons (Vanity Mirror, Scratched Mirror, Infinite Evil, and Tombstone). Every single on of those variants is fun. 🙂
Hag: I like Hag, I think she's interesting and unique. My timing on her teleport lunges isn't great since I don't play her often enough and I don't go out of my way to remap the activate ability key to my mouse wheel like some Hag mains do, but she's still fun nonetheless. She's probably my favorite 110% speed killer.
Doctor: Doctor is one of my favorite killers, I love his tracking ability, it pretty much guarantees he's always in a chase all the time rather than searching for occasionally super stealthy survivors. His Madness is also a fun effect thematically, and his Shock is useful at loops. Plus I like the basic 115% melee killers for the most part. Just fun to play.
Huntress: I'm not a big fan of the ranged killers generally speaking, including Huntress. I just prefer the melee chases to the ranged attacks. On top of which I don't play her that often so my aim is pretty terrible when I do. I don't actively hate her but if I had to choose between her and a 115% speed melee killer I'd go melee.
Bubba: He's what Hillbilly probably should have been in the first place at this point. Solid ability in a chase, it doesn't feel really cumbersome to use, and he's got those oddly endearing animations where he just gets SO excited after hitting something with his chainsaw. 😄 Contrary to the trope, I also never facecamp with him or any killer, if the survivors aren't coming to me I go to them. Standing around waiting for them to come to me just isn't exciting, and if they're really sitting on the gens then me not pressuring them off is bad strategy too.
Freddy: I never played the old original Freddy but I like the current version pretty well. His teleport is handy for map mobility, I like the Dream World aesthetic, and even though his snares are a bit better I always use his fake pallets because it's always hilarious when a survivor gets an unexpected blood bath and a free hit when they get fooled by one!
Pig: I do ok with Pig, I like her stealth other than that her movement speed is slow when she does it, but the fact I can turn it on and off easily at will is handy and I can often get the drop on survivors because of her low profile and Undectability. Having built in gen slow down in the form of the head traps is nice (I know some people complain about its luck factor but on average it works out pretty decently if you look at it statistically.) And her lunge is situational but I've even gotten hits with it more often than I expected. Overall one of the ones I like playing. 🙂
Clown: Oddly I liked Clown a bit better before he got the yellow gas, which is clearly all in my head since you can hypothetically totally ignore the yellow gas and play him exactly like the old pink gas only version. But I don't like not at least trying to take advantage of the yellow gas, because objectively it is helpful for certain things, so I do use it. The thing is though it just feels like that extra thing of having to toggle back and forth all the time between gasses just takes away from the simplicity I enjoyed. I liked Clown because he was a really straightforward melee chase killer, I could just focus on the chase and use the gas for zoning and slowdown and have a good time. Now it just feels like they made it more complicated just because they could.
Spirit: Spirit is ok, not my favorite but ... meh. 🤷♂️ I do wish they'd revamp Iron Will to be 90% sound reduction instead of 100% though, nothing's more frustrating with Spirit than having literally zero audio cue of where someone went.
Legion: I'm not really into the vaulting thing honestly so that's kind of a turnoff with Legion. And sometimes hitting with the feral frenzy is a bit stressful since you're moving at super speed and the survivor is desperately juking. They're ok but not my favorite. (Plus it feels like they missed an opportunity with Legion to have a killer that can somehow disguise themselves as a survivor. I wish they could figure out a way to do that effectively, it seems like a traitor style killer could be a lot of fun!)
Plague: Not a fan of ranged killers as I mentioned with Huntress. Plague at least moves full 115% speed, and can vomit on objects which is entertaining. But I don't play her that often so when I do I have trouble hitting with her puke attacks which can get frustrating.
Ghostface: I like Ghostface's version of stealth and stalking quite a lot, at least in principle. He does suffer from a lack of way to get around the map quickly (same as many killers), but it is satisfying getting stealth hits and Exposed hits. The original post mentioned something about Ghostface getting a revamp but I don't know anything about it either way.
Demo: I like Demo. I play him a bit differently from a lot of people, though. I place portals near all the gens and intentionally activate them so I can use them as radar stations at will. Get a ping, teleport over and into a chase. If they leave my portals alone then I have instant map traversal whenever I want. If they try and destroy the portals it takes them 12 seconds to destroy a portal that only takes me 2 seconds to replace so it's still a win. Honestly his portals are the reason I like him, his Lunge is just kind of there. 🙂
Oni: Oni is an awesome looking character with a cool thematic ability ... that I absolutely suck with because I hardly ever play him. If I actually ever sat down and became really consistent with his charges he would be a ton of fun to play, but as is when I play him it's an exercise in futility sometimes hitting with his club against juking survivors. Ah well, he's a causality of me playing whoever is my daily mission that night instead of maining anybody.
Deathslinger: As above, I'm not a fan of the ranged attackers, especially the 110% speed ones. And his nerf made him even less fun to play because his turning speed while aiming is SO incredibly slow! And of course since I don't play him very often my aim stinks to begin with. Playing him really feels like a chore now, I hope some day they turn up his turning speed at least.
Pyramid head: I like Pyramid Head's look and theme, they're pretty sweet. And to be honest I like him best for his Torment trails and cages and execution ability, not for his ranged attack (see above about ranged attacks).
Blight: Blight is a killer I wish I was better at hitting people with his special attack. As with other killers, if I played him more often I'd hit more other with his Lethal Rushes, but as is I whiff quite a bit with them. Even so just the fact that his ability lets him get around the map really quickly and easily makes him fun to play, even if I end up having to finish chases on foot at 115% sometimes.
Twins: I want to like the twins more than I do, but as with the other lunge attackers hitting with Victor isn't easy since I don't play him very often. I tell you though, if or when they ever do an Evil Ventriloquist skin for the Twins with Victor in a little tuxedo I'm all in!
Trickster: I've hardly played Trickster at all so far so not much to say here. I think his ranged attack is a bit easier to hit with than Deathslinger's and Huntress' though, so that's a plus I guess?
Nemesis: Man, if his zombies didn't have such terrible pathing and weren't so incredibly slow I'd be way more into this character. I love the idea of having zombie pets as a killer! His whip is finicky to hit with and frankly never even feels worth the time invested in it, other than for pallet breaks. I like his look though!
Pinhead: Pinhead is the one ranged killer I actually kind of enjoy playing (albeit the limited number of times I have). His chains are actually fairly easy to hit with since they're steerable, I rarely miss with them. His passive Chain Hunt ability is great. And even his teleport has been unexpectedly more useful than I thought it might be given how much people dump on it. I've gotten a number of relatively easy hits and downs after a teleport. It's even sometimes a useful slugging tool, since after I down someone there's some smart aleck who tries to solve the box when I'm thinking of hooking them, giving me a chance to teleport to them and down them too. Plus it denies them the free item for solving the box, so bonus! Yes, it resets your Chain Hunt timer, but if they were going to solve the box anyway and you're not in the middle of something more important the teleport just ends up being a no brainer to me.
Artist: I haven't unlocked her yet so not much to say other than she looks like she's in the same vein as the Doctor, which means I suspect I'll like playing her.

Thanks.

No problem. I wish I had your passion for a specific killer
0 -
I agree with everything except Nurse and Trickster. Nurse imo is a greatly designed killer, because chases against her are skill vs skill. Trickster isn't the most fun to face but I think he feels a good niche to play as.
1 -
Nemesis seriously needs a once per match Rocket Launcher. What prerequisites it should have is beyond me(all vaccines used?) but i dont think its be a huge deal breaker.
1 -
Glad to see a fellow clown enjoyer.
He’s not my main, but I do play him a lot.
1 -
I do agree though on the boring part. He's just not all that interesting even with them I guess trying to change him. Many other directions would've just been more interesting and fun I think without necessarily talking about accuracy. Like I've said in the past I don't like that half of the power has nothing to do with him. Nothing to do with him as in he can't control it in game very well. The zombies sure sound cool and would like to have seen it eventually executed, preferably I wanted it to be a part of Walking Dead, in gameplay are just very.... Meh. Not being able to control it is obviously unfun because... Well you can't do anything with it. It just goes on it's own. I will say the tentacle feels nice to hit. At least for me but other killers still just have much more fun feeling powers. I have more fun on Clown personally even though I've been a long time defender of him.
