So I've been playing with COH and Shadow Step

Had 10k iri shards so I used em to buy Mikaela and grinded out the boon totem teachables in a night. Now, I don't know what MMR I'm at, so I'm not going to pretend I'm high or low or whatever. All my experience comes from whatever matches I played.

With that said, Holy moly these perks really are ridiculous. I don't know why you'd really want to run any of the other healing perks over COH alone. You hardly ever need a medkit with this perk, but it's ok because seal heal rate is absurd if you do bring one anyways.

Shadow Step has gotten me out of so many chases and let me hide from several Artists running BBQ and Chili. Its way more effective on indoor maps but has still saved me plenty of times on outdoor maps allowing me to trick and hide from a Killer that would otherwise be breathing down my neck.

I just slam out a gen ASAP, let detective's hunch guide me to a nearby totem and bless it and *usually* the Killer rarely ever goes over there and snuffs it out. Even if they do snuff it, it feels pretty inconsequential, especially if I'm playing with friends. 14 seconds isn't that long and the utility the perks offer more than makes up for lack of gen time. I suppose against top level blight and nurse the 14 seconds matter but against the average killer it's pretty whatever if your Boon gets snuffed.

24m is also deceptively large. I played a game on Eeyrie of Crows which, afaik, is a pretty large map. Two other teammates also had boons and we were effectively able to cover about half the map in Boon circles.

Perks are crazy strong!

Crazy strong perks indeed, only issue I have with them is youre able to bring them back infinitely

Either add a limited amount of times you can bring it, or add a timer

I am surprised BHVR hasn't done anything about them yet.

It didn't take them long to realize that Old MoM was overpowered and they soon changed it.

Why not do the same thing with Boons?

EDIT: It didn't take them long for a 'BHVR" point of view, because 2 months is not exactly a short period of time.

I win most of my games as solo survivor. Ridiculous perks

I will say with SS I see it more as a minor annoyance than something completely overpowered. With IW it's definitely frustrating but thankfully the fact it's underused means it doesn't mess with my tracking too much; it's a bit like Lucky Break in that when I see it I hate it but I don't see it enough to get truly tilted.

COH, however, I will use to prove how absolutely busted bullshit OP it is (and because I really like the security of it) until the devs nerf it, because that perk is absolutely not fair. SS and the new Exponential deserve slaps to the wrist, someone needs to get the nuclear code for COH.

Incredibly OP on RCPD's 3 floors, especially that totem spot in the library. But yeah, either needs an internal cooldown of say 90 seconds for that 1 totem / a requirement to bless it (Like how flashbang and Blastmine have requirements) or Limit it to 1 use per totem and when snuffed the totem loses energy or whatever and cannot be blessed again.

I think BHVR had the problem of needing a big enough radius for some perks to work lest they become basically useless. We can actually see this rn with the 3 boon perks we have.

24m for Shadow Step feels about right (though aura concealment is honestly a little much...) and feels reasonable for an area to reduce scratch marks so you can hide from the killer.

24m is totally worthless for exponential though. Unless you go down in the radius it'll rarely come into play because the Killer will almost always pick you up if they hear the Boon to avoid it. It'll only come into play if a fellow Survvior forces the Killer to chase them off and they avoid long enough.

COH is the opposite. You could reduce its radius to 16m and it would still be really strong.

In making it so that one Boon triggers all perks, BHVR has made a unique balancing problem for themselves because the radius really matters.

only problem is the range covering 2 floor maps because it actually has double the effective range. nothing more

its dbd ez mode. its sad because killer was my de-stress role. Now I just rock something like CoH, SS, IW and DH and I have a way better time than even bringing my best add ons with Ebony Mori.

This is a huge problem! The Boons aren't a sphere, they're a cylinder. It makes it really hard to actually hone in on the audio cue

I was watching a former dev (you know who) one of these days and he said he thinks boons should have a 16m range and a cooldown after the killer snuffs it, I think it would be a good change.

Snuffing any boon in a match twice is the equivalent of a single Pop charge in terms of time gained.

Just as a note that TC was running perks to help them find totems faster + the ideal dull ones so the Killer wouldn't find them. Plus the last bit requires multiple people finding dull totems...

Idk, I'm tired and I don't exactly want this to be another "boon = bad" thread that ignores some of the things that led up to this while I sleep.
