In the patch notes we are told
"totem placement and hiding spots will be continuously improved starting with this update."
Finally, we are getting confirmation on better totem spots, we can now start running ruin again!

I'm still waiting for the patch notes with "Map balance and optimization is now a priority, and will be getting better with each patch."
That said, this is a start. A late start, but a start nonetheless.

Well survivors will still immediately find it when going into the building, which is likely since it's a go to place when being chased, but it's at least better than before. I'm curious what other new totem spawns they have with this new patch. In the future I'd love to see certain spawn points where only Hex Totems can spawn and not Dull Totems, since I can understand that having too many hard to find totem spawns will just buff NOED as well, which really doesn't need a buff at all.

My issue with the totems isn't necessarily the spawn location (some are better than others) but that they are SOOOOO easy to spot.
Then once they are activated...it's way too easy to spot and cleanse. They need to revamp the whole totem idea.

So basically, lets limit where it can spawn and actually make them easier to find, good job guys, you really are trying to kill this game.

3. There are 7 gens on a map. Stop acting as it is 100 gens and they are all 5 meters to each other without room in between

I dont understand why totems cant and dont spawn on the edge of the map/walls. Only immerse survivors go right on the edge, so otherwise they be good spots.
Harder to protect for sure, but still good spots. Also probably adding more dull totems would be good too with that change, even though that be a buff for noed and thrill of the hunt.1 -

This seems like a pretty biased way to look at this.
Personally I couldn't really care less about totems as they aren't necessary but the issue is that a spawnpoint is the first thing a survivor will ever see and that they will immediately either go for a generator or try to get themselves settled in a safer area like a structure, it makes no sense to have a perk found right out in the open without effort because it was placed where a survivor will commonly go.
If anything there are way more harmful things that can be done to the game than making a totem perk less miserable to run and more satisfying to use, some of those more harmful things infact already exist in the game. Personally I'd be satisfied when I actually have to put in a little effort to look for them rather than seeing it out in a completely open field like in disturbed ward as you have to keep in mind that this is an entire perkslot that gets wasted due to bad placements which is a big deal for most killers. Good totem spawns are not only a good goal to work towards but also achievable as even with the hours I have in this game I can struggle at times to find totems on Lery's and The Game due to totems being properly hidden.

Idk why they don’t just let killers pick were they want them on each map. so if say I load up it’s were I put it and if it gets destroyed it’s on me. U could use a

And tell me to hide them better.

The problem is often the spawn, but not always, its more the fact, totem spawns are not really random, but instead there are like 20 positions where they can be.
The fact, that they spawn right next to a gen is giving totem spawns the rest.

The solution is not better totem placements, but either an option for killer to decide which totem to activate, or a rework of the totem system. Possibly making all totem look like dull totems, that would help with the "additional objective" request that's mentioned so often.

The only time I managed to get 5 tokens on DH is when it spawned on a random corner on the Swamp, far from generators and literally everything else.
