Any reason one queue is faster than the other?
New player here (just started yesterday). If I go survivor, it seems I can't find a match. If I go as killer, I'm matched immediately. Any reason for this, or is it just random luck?

Many killers have taken a break and/or quit with how bad the game has gotten for killers.
Add in an event that is geared towards giving survivors extra stuff to do (and yet another advantage depending on what killer is in play as the snowmen can downright hard counter The Twins and Ghostface) and a major problem the game has retaining killers gets that much worse.
Your location and time of day can also be a major factor. For example here in America (edit: Midwest since it sounds like even your location in America might make your queue vary wildly), survivor queue is usually instant during the day but spikes up at night. Killer is usually a little bit slower in the day but instant at night.

Unfortunately no one wants to play Killer anymore with all the balance issues

Q times depend a lot on the time of the day. Survivor is instant for me during the day, killer is 3+ minutes, and the opposite at night.
I'm on EU with crossplay off btw.
No, it has nothing to do with a "shortage" of killers, that's what they try to make you believe to add to their sob story.

Pretty much this.
Extremly long queues are often because matchmaking bugs too
Most of my queues are under a minute and which one takes longer depends on the time of day.
So unless the shortage of killers is purely in america, a sob story is all it is

I've seen a lot of other people with the same experience as me and they seem to be EU. I'd like to see people from other servers with the same experience. EU definitely does not have a shortage of anything.

The other problem, as the event goes on, is that aside from not being sure "Have I got all the things?", they managed to implement it in a way that both sides need the other to do something to get the cosmetic (most of the time, people leaving as snowmen is the exception), and playing one side you can't even initiate it.
That bugs me even more than the health states.

Killers have no way to obtain the cosmetics if survivors don´t want them to.

I live in western NA and their has been a pretty clear shift in que times for killer. I'm sorry you think I'm giving you a sob story and crying or whatever but the reality is I usually had to wait till after 7pm to get decent que times for killer. I can now get near instant ques pretty much the second I get home from work at 3pm and it remains consistent.
So, call me whatever insults you want. It has no effect on the objective fact I see whenever I play.

Someone here gave a very plausible explanation:
during the day, if someone got some time at their hand to play the game, if they aren't an exclusive survivor player, a lot of peeps might opt to play a quick killer match, so there are more killers online and the killer queue gets longer. In the evening a lot of players will decide to play with friends, so more SWF groups gather and there are fewer killers online, so killer queues become nearly instantly.
If really that many Killer players quit because of the state of the game? I can't say, but it is about 85% true that playing survivor is way less stressful, especially in the current meta. So this might at least influencing the times at night, too.

Because survivors who have all their cosmetics can ignore the snowmen and then the killers have no options. You can't MAKE people get in the snowmen.
1 -
And how does the killer stop that? Oh by hitting them, giving them the skin in both cases. If survivors don´t hop into a snowman, killer won´t be able to get it. Survivors have total control over this.
1 -
Instant survivor lobbies here as well.
i guess this means the killer players are satisfied with the current state of the game right? Since long survivor queues are such a prove of killers being dissatisfied…
3 -
if the survivors choose not to enter a snowman, the killer has no way to get the cosmetic. They need survivors to play along to even try and get anything. Meanwhile as survivor you just jump in and you're guaranteed something unless you choose to forfeit it.
They clearly only thought of the survivor side while designing the event gameplay, but what else is new.

No one wants to play killer my darling. Game currently is very unbalanced and everyone prefers to play a survivor atm to not get stressful games. It will get worse if BHVR still gonna favor survivors in future updates.

I'm also EU, correctly Poland. The Q times for me as the killer is instant, but for survivors it can be either from 5 to 10 minutes. So no it's not a matchmaking issues. No one just wants to play as killer, because the game proper balance sucks.

My survivor q times are still instant with crossplay off in EU, what does that tell you? EU players are better at killer?

Hello Good M. Cantelope. I also play in the PST timezone in North America. Every day. Sometimes all day. I see the same thing you do. in the morning, survivor wait time can be almost instant. At 6:30 AM, the Killers are quite good. They have fancy clothes and bring lots of gen progress perks and addons. They offer up sacrifice tokens or kill direct tokens. And I can't survive usually. By 7:30, it gets easier and I am no longer getting killers with russian and chinese names. It is survivors playing killers during this time of day from 7:30 - noon. At noon, some killers again start dressing up and bringing full set of perks / offerings. They are ruthless. Wait times are still short for survivor and instant for killers. At 3:pm, all the great killers get home from school and start killing. They are again good killers and usually successful. Survivor wait times are long until 7:PM. from 7:PM - 2:am, the wait times get shorter and shorter. It is only the ratio of survivor / killer that affects wait times.
I have about 75 friends. And from 3:PM to 7:PM, there are always about 15 playing. During other times, it is more like 5.
If you M. Cantelope, feel the game is survivor sided then I suggest bringing perks that slow down generator progress. There is one that locks out generators for 90 seconds. That is a long time. Also, start camping the hook more often. We cant resist unhooking. Down the hooked person again and kill them to leave only 3 survivors. We cant deal well with that. Bring starstruck to see survivor locations. Bring the offerings that show you survivors. If you cant get them, your match level will go down until you get less experienced survivors. Its just that. Time of day and you have been too successful and expect to continue with your success. When you start loosing, it is only temporary. Same thing happens on the survivor side. I get killed and killed and eventually get an easier killer. I dont believe there is a mass exodus of killers. It just is not happening. I play killer and this happens to me. I get flashlight cowboys for a while and then eventually they go away and I can catch people again. The only unbalanced thing in this game is peoples success expectations. If it is not fun for you, I understand. But many killers get 4 kills in my world. You act like we can bring gen parts and purple flashlights to every match. This is just not the case in my experience. Most survivors bring nothing at all. I have reached red 1 twice now so I do play a lot. The events only bring out more people.

The story is really similar here in South America too. Of course, queue times are slow for both sides during day time, but for survivor, no matter the time of the day, the queues are much longer.

I'm in Mountain Central Time and that's not typical of my experience.
Morning, short wait time for survivor: Check, but longer than when I first started (ie no longer instant)
6:30 AM: No clue and no plans to find out.
8 or 9 AM until 5 or 6 PM: Short wait times on survivors (used to be instant), short wait time on killers (used to be medium to long)
After 6 or 7 PM: Long wait times on survivors, Instant queues on killers.
Before the Epic launch, I got sweaty survivors after 7 PM (my expectations changed from 2 kills to 2 or 3 hooks) and had just started getting really sweaty killers (as in I got stomped hard whereas I escaped some of the time before). Now after the launch, my games are more normal.
If I had to guess, I would say people were leaving but the influx of new people from Epic has normalized things again for a while at least.

If the killer hits you or you escape you get it. Its guaranteed unless you jump out yourself.
"Playing killer I got them all on day one."
Not the point.
"I do agree they should have done something that both killer and survivor could initiate."
Then we agree.

Same here, I'm on American servers.
Time of day is the main cause. For me during the day until about 7pm my time my survivor queues are fast while killer is slow, at 7pm it switches. It's been like this for awhile. More players are on playing with friends at night, less people are playing games solo. That's it.
Maybe crossplay on/off adds to it because lots of console killers will turn off crossplay when they play killer and turn it on for survivor so there's more survivors with crossplay on than killers. I have crossplay off all the time so it works out for me. 😂
1 -
Weird how crossplay off is soooo much more sweaty for both sides, yet there isn't a "killer shortage" on there.
1 -
Crossplay off is also supposed to give longer queue times too right? Those quick survivor queues during the day and quick killer at night say that's not a problem. 😂

No, I'm saying there has been objective shift in wait times and you calling people crybabies doesn't change that. Everything else is you sticking words in my mouth.
No, I'm saying there has been objective shift in wait times and thebperson I responded to calling people crybabies doesn't change that. Everything else is you sticking words in my mouth.
Last time two people on this forum stuck words in my mouth they harassed me for three days. So if you're replies are going to be to just double down on the arguments you've decided I made for me I'm just gonna ignore you.

OK fair enough. I don't want to put words in your mouth. I am not calling you anything other than M. Cantelope. What killer do you play?

Most of them.
