What do you think the killer's power will be in Ringu?
As the title says lets have a discussion on what everyone thinks the new killers powers will be and what movement speed the killer will be.

Well she uses tapes to curse people who watch them, and if I remember correctly the curse goes in order from newest to oldest. So someone who watched the tapes more recently will be the first to have their face chewed off.
So maybe it has something to do with watching tapes and marking survivors. But what incentives the survivors to must watch the tapes... I dunno. Lots of potential but hard to think of a power

I think she'll be able to walk through walls while hiding her killer stain, but she'll have to commit to the action and it'll take two seconds or so. VHS tape effect would show to give survivors a bit of a heads up with add ons decreasing the visual blur.
She could also slowly suffocate the survivor, slowing them down the longer they're in chase with her while their screen distorts. It wouldn't win you any games but she could have an active ability to make it a lot more intense. Kinda like a clown bottle.
I'd also give her Freddy's teleport to generators but instead of the generator, a well nearby with multiple wells or TVs nearby that she can use to travel through.

Probably teleporting to televisions. Maybe limited by only being able to teleport when a survivor comes into range of one.
I'd also expect some form of mapwide pressure like Pig and Pinhead in the form of the whole "seven days" thing, which can be disrupted by interacting with a well, or by passing it on to a different survivor.

Maybe she has some reliable way to quickly teleport across the map, from well/TV to another. Something that generates map wide pressure.

No idea. Though I think it would be cool if once we load into the trial we immediately watch the video before we see the map.
Obviously this gives away who the killer is immediately but I think it still would be pretty cool.

Exactly but I kind of want this killer to be scary, so that would mean they would have a stealth ability. Only the Pig gives away who they are to start the trial as a stealth killer.
Whether this killer uses stealth or not I think it would be cool to see your character immediately look at a video of the ring.

With Demodoggo out of the way, probably another teleport ability which works by setting up wells over the map. Maybe even with that ring tone, where survivors have a warning what she will emerge from it.

115% possesion mode ( faster movement speed) and each time u repair a gen u get a curse status that have to do something or you die ( like rbt)

I was watching these threads pop up during the night after we made the announcement (it was midnight for me), and it was interesting to see the difference on our social media platforms. Discord and Twitter went into absolute hype mode and I said at the time, the forums will start discussing power & perks before hyping things....glad to see I was right!

Next stage of the forums development cycle is to see people being excited and make sure they know in every single thread that the killer will be nerfed out of PTB and they won't have good perks and BHVR hates killer players, etc etc

I'm not actually all that familiar with this property, but from what I do know, some kind of television-based teleportation mechanic seems like one of the obvious choices- whether it's what she gets or not I guarantee it was on the table during the design sessions, lmao.
Based on what I know of the video tape mechanic, I did have the thought of some kind of potentially-lethal status effect that can only be avoided if all the survivors gather together in the same spot to "share" it, but I'm not sure how feasible that would actually be. Fun to think about, at least!

I would like some haunting ability rather than the well as a teleport like Demodog. More like how the Doctor can give hallucinations, but to affect more than one player at a time. I want survivors to think you are close when you are not.
I want to be able to play her as well, so not teleporting around like Nurse with her undocumented motion sickness power. I feel like she should be able to go through walls since Spirit cannot but I don't know how balanced this might feel to play against.
The well should be saved for her Mori.

I can think of a couple of possible interesting game mechanics
- Since curses are her schtick, it could be that she somehow marks a survivor and after a while something bad happens to them.
- Another possibility is that if a survivors looks at her too long they become cursed, such as if you stare at her too long you become Hindered or Exposed or hallucinate, etc. (I’ve said elsewhere a Medusa style killer where you actively want to avoid looking at them could be pretty cool, and it could fit the Curse theme here too.)
- They may have televisions or wells, etc, around the map that she can teleport between.

As people have already mentioned, I'm also thinking she'll be conjuring wells to teleport through, and on top of that a curse ability that may become an instant Mori ability like Myers with Tombstone if not dealt with quickly enough, although the curse probably takes a while and acts like a secondary objective. Maybe not the second without an add-on, but that would probably be better than an anti-loop; instead distracting survivors with an alternate objective.
